Does anyone have the design mock-ups for the Jamestown building renovation? Would be curious to see what it entails.

I’m also going to safely assume Linda’s is not part of this renovation…

They had one in their presentation to Ohio City's design review ( http://www.ohiocity.org/local-historic-design-review ) but it only showed the bottom half of the building. It didn't look much different than the existing storefront and since I didn't have room for extra images, I left it out of the article.

Fixed that for you @KJP

I kid you not, I watched a 50+ year old man do kartwheels down the side walk in front of Linda's, then double back and karate kick a grocery bag out of a woman's hands as she walked out.

Based on what I’ve seen they’ve only ripping out the internals (which is kind of all it needed) The new tenant “The Splatter Loft” has already moved in and is open now through September on the second floor of the building

Clicking on that link I see Daves Hot chicken finally presenting their OHC storefront on 6/2dcd08f0adde664ef3f2302a039e66729.jpg

Ta daaaa.  Gehring, by the Intro, is open.  LOL, I drove on it today.

Thought this was pretty cool, planned renovation of the brick building behind the WSM lots:

Renovation AND addition (see site plan). The mansard roof is strange though. It's just a partial cover of a rooftop deck. You can see it in the view from the opposite direction....

Great Lakes Brewing on the move
By Ken Prendergast / July 19, 2022

A number of factors have come together to prompt the Great Lakes Brewing Co. to seek a relocation of its production facilities from its longtime location in the heart of Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood. Previously, the large craft beer brewer had considered expanding production to properties it acquired over the last four years along the Cuyahoga River on Scranton Peninsula in the Flats. Now it appears that it may move all of its production to the nearly 10-acre site.

The maximum building height allowed is 115 feet which equates to an 11-story residential building.

Man when are they going to increase these height limits? How is 11 stories the max in the heart of Ohio City?

Kind of OHC related, but specifically to this article - I put together a web application that shows where all the former Cleveland breweries were (I know I've posted this in the past), but since Ken mentioned the former Gehring Brewery I figured I'd post this link again: https://veganbrisket.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=19628b56e7f8479c9261b7700272616c. Enjoy!

(and feel free to move as needed)

I guess this is suppose to be a positive tweet regarding the project, but given @KJP suggestion a few months ago that the principals may have been shopping the project around rather than actually being  interested in completing it, some of the tweet's language is a bit concerning.  Words like "vision", "proposed", "investment opportunity" and "contact info".  Still, maybe I reading too much into a tweet by a proud papa.

Yeah the ambiguity of the text is concerning and the huge lack of detail also concerning in my opinion. Could just be VERY early on but it seems projects that get developed have much more detail in the renderings/announcements messages. This looks like a 3D rendering that was thrown together.

If this is a serious project, I don't understand the point of that tweet. And why is it coming from a real estate broker rather than the developer itself or at least an equity partner? Perhaps Rico IS an equity partner here, like he is with Reallife on its The Pine proposal for Columbus Road in the Flats?

Was walking by today and although skeptical at first, I think these turned out pretty nice all things considered. I think the landscaping looks nice!

Harbor 44 sets new course in Ohio City

By Ken Prendergast / August 15, 2022

With City Planning Commission approval behind it, the developer of Harbor 44 is ready to set sail on its next phases of the mixed-use development in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood. Local Development Partners, LLC (LDP) in 2021 completed phase one at the southeast corner of Lorain Avenue and West 44th Street, called Harbor Street before 1905.

Working overtime from Europe I see.

Ah...the internet. As much as we hate it for its malign influences when used for actual info it sure is nice.

I pre-wrote a few articles before I left for Germany. I wrote two while I was here. On a train heading eastbound from Bremen right now.

I looked up the street view while reading that since I wasn’t too familiar with that particular area of Ohio City. Wow what a huge difference these buildings will make. This city needs more of these infill projects.

James Miketo of Forest City Shuffleboard and investor in "The Amelia" seems to be acquiring the property (4500 Lorain Ave) next to Forest City Shuffleboard.

I wonder what his plans would be. Expansion? New concept? I know the prior owner wanted to demo the building. Regardless, hopefully it can be preserved and James work toward preserving/amplifying this stretch of Lorian can be heightened.

I believe the building owner wanted to demo it and build new but the city wouldn’t  issue a demo permit. That’s just hearsay tho.

If I remember from the meetings, they ended up getting the approval after a ton of back and forth. I wonder if it was a ploy to kick out the tenants .

Apparently citizen bank has had a fully set up bank branch for months on the corner of W28th and Detroit at 2615 Detroit ave but for some reason haven’t put a sign up or opened yet.

And guessing most have already seen but Tost sandwich cafe is coming across the street from the citizen bank in the Jamestown building under the new splatter loft

I was told it was a CF Bank. I’m not 100% tho.

Follow up: Looks like James plans to save the building instead of demoing. A truly great ambassador to Lorain Ave and the neighborhood as a whole.

Awesome. And if I remember correctly from previous meetings on this property the past owner insisted it was unsalvageable.

Historic Vitrolite Building harnesses new future

By Ken Prendergast / October 14, 2022

Restoration of the historic Vitrolite Building, 2915 Detroit Ave., in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood moved closer to reality yesterday when the city’s Landmarks Commission approved the project with a unanimous vote, along with a few conditions. The nearly century-old building with its unique terra cotta façade is on the National Register of Historic Places. But it has a new future with a new owner who will take it in a new direction.

Haven't seen anything posted about the "Lakeview Connects" project but I have heard a few things from local leaders in-the-know. Apparently, there are proposals to demo Lakeview Estates and replace it with new build apartments - with a section of the area being rebuilt for low-income residents. The long and the short of it is they plan to essentially remove the projects, altogether. Has anyone heard anything more?

I also haven't seen anything about the development on the above-pictured lot on Clinton. I will try to join the virtual meeting (rescheduled due to the ALDS) and report back.

Edited by BJBaes

Nothing additional, just heard the same talk about a month ago from someone that works for snavely

Glad to see there’s some actual confirmation that’s public

looks like this meeting is cancelled due to the Guardians game: http://www.ohiocity.org/community-meetings

TONIGHT'S (10/18) COMMUNITY MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE RESCHEDULING OF GURADIANS ALDS GAME 5. The Next Community Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30pm and we're working to reschedule as many of the presenters from the 10/18 meeting to November. Stay tuned for a full agenda including an opportunity to connect as a community prior to the holidays.

Saw this on Twitter and need to bring a blow up version of this to my next block club meeting:

It should be noted that the renderings online don't seem to match the new description and site plan (3 SFH on Clinton and 4 townhomes on Vine).

I'm extra butt hurt about this one. My wife and I wanted to buy one of those lots to build our forever home :(

New renderings, might be worse looking.
