The projected price tag to carry out the redo is at least $62 million. While the property’s owner and developer MRN Ltd. has been kicking around various ideas for reusing the property for the last couple of years, none of those concepts have advanced as far as this stage of nailing down its financing for a specific program. August 9, 20231 yr This seems to me to be the right move. I would also like to see the cross walk on W25 be raise as a speed hump and a redesign of Market Square Park. After Successful Pilot Efforts, What Will it Take to Close Market Avenue to Cars for Good? By Mark Oprea on Tue, Aug 8, 2023 "The summer of 2019 left a particular impression on Tom McNair, the executive director of Ohio City Incorporated. McNair, then five years into his position, was overjoyed that one of his walkability pursuits, the closing of Market Avenue to car traffic, was happening. By June, the street was covered in Astroturf and Adirondack chairs. No longer did lines of SUVs and cars line the curb. Instead, there was sidewalk seating, in the most European image Market Ave had ever seen. ... In the four years since Market Ave.'s brief identity as a pedestrian street, questions as to how to try again to close the avenue off are resurfacing in earnest, as the support for the avenue's permanent closure grows in its collective intent. But, as in 2019, quagmires continue arise." https://www.clevescene.com/news/after-successful-pilot-efforts-what-will-it-take-to-close-market-avenue-to-cars-for-good-42493025
August 9, 20231 yr In local restaurant news: Condado tacos coming into the old OHC Galley space on 25th and Detroit. Also saucy is expanding into the former title boxing space and Dominos going into Harbor 44
August 9, 20231 yr These are great food news! Condado will be an awesome addition there even though not my favorite. I am just happy that beautiful corner space will be filled and add immediate activity to that space.

August 9, 20231 yr It’ll be interesting to see how Condado does in the neighborhood. Chains seem to have trouble in Ohio City and plenty of the population is Barrio-ed out. Anyone have info on Dave’s Hot Chicken? It looks like construction has really slowed/stopped.

August 10, 20231 yr Here’s what the saucy expansion is going to look like… extended patio that goes on to church and new garage door. The only thing not approved is the awning they didn’t like how big it is and the color being black felt like too much black
August 10, 20231 yr I'm also watching the Landmarks meeting; there was some minor drama involving the Brew Works' "ask for forgiveness, not for permission" approach to putting the original awning up in the first place. 😂 (With the caveat that some lenience was provided by the Commission due to the pandemic in 2020.) Is this approach typical? Wouldn't they be fined for this? Edited August 10, 20231 yr by hamish20 changed a word for clarity

August 10, 20231 yr Its so funny to see these idyllic images presented to these boards. Currently where the new patio on Church Street is shown, there are three major dumpsters that were displaced when the vibrator company property was sold and padlocked by the new owner. Where are they going? Also there is usually a stack of wood pallets outside the garage door. Above the garage door is a giant silo (not shown) that holds the spent grain from the brewing production. Every 2 or 3 days an open bed semi pulls up and the spent grains are poured in - this is also where saucy trucks pull up all day long loading pallets of beer for distribution. None of this is very conducive to enjoying a beer on the patio. The only way I see this being possible is if Saucy is moving production to a new facility. Was there any discussion of that?
