He gave his permission to RTA, that's all. It wouldn't cost him anything to get a trial balloon floated at someone else's expense. But, in the end, he did what many Cleveland property owners do... Not pursue the highest and best use for their properties when they can sit back and collect rent checks with little or no effort. May 31, 20187 yr The existing property unfortunately is probably in a sweet spot. It's old enough to be paid off, new enough to still be in decent shape to attract corporate tenants like KeyBank, S-W, Pizza Hut, Spectrum, etc, and is in a neighborhood that today is far more active and thriving than when the property itself was built. To boot, they probably even got grant money when they built it. That all means that owning the property today is easy money, and it's probably hard for new construction to compete with. As the building ages, current tenants could start to look elsewhere, and hopefully apartment demand and rents will still be solid, and eventually, something will happen.

June 22, 20186 yr For those who are within the bounds of the Franklin Clinton block club -- the Casto project at the corner of 28th & Franklin is being brought to a vote next Thursday, June 28th at 7:00pm (held at St. John's Parish Hall -- 2600 Church Ave.). I'm planning on being there in support of the project, and I hope some of you are able to join as well! The developers have made significant changes to the height, size, and design of the project throughout the community input and design review process, and I've attached a few images from the updated renderings that capture the highlights
