July 8, 20195 yr Doesn't even sound like the owner of Hot Dog Inn wants to be in it for much longer. According to the article, he might just take the money and retire. I honestly don't blame him, although I do hate to see greasy spoon spots fall by the wayside. And what's also encouraging is that the block club seems to be very cooperative with the developer too. Edited July 8, 20195 yr by YO to the CLE
July 8, 20195 yr I hope the developer salvages the sign for the new retail establishment, should the owner of the Hot Dog Inn get a burst of energy for a few years or simply sells the business.
July 8, 20195 yr Update on the Cleveland Rocks project in the Masonic Temple: https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/masonic-temple-get-new-start Sounds like a cool project, and glad to see some interesting stuff going in there, although no details on timing in the article.

July 11, 20195 yr I am on the last street in Ohio City, westbound, and since we moved in, there have been over 7-8 homes bought within 20 homes either way of us, extremely exciting. This includes the house next door, which I thought would lie vacant forever until the raccoons eventually created their own semi-autonomous state. Now we just need Detroit to develop more between Hingetown to 54th. Think a high school is a net positive or negative to investment nearby?

So much more could've gone there. The school will sit empty outside of normal school hours. Doesn't add residential investment, creates a bottleneck for bus access, creates safety issues with all the kids having to cross the street to get to it... creates no taxable property value...

RTA staff merely has board approval to pursue an agreement with Carnegie at this point. If/when that is approved by the board, then you'll see some drawings in the months thereafter. July 23, 20195 yr I take Franklin Road Hill to the gym every morning and lament at what the hill looks like - This project is going to be absolutely transformative and crucial to the sustainability of Ohio City with families with children. My wife and I had a conversation last night about how much more likely this project makes us to have an raise children (at least for a little while) in Ohio City instead of immediately leaving for a suburb when we have kids. Really excited. Props to Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown as well - that is what good government fights for.

July 23, 20195 yr Is the plan for there to be continuous park from Detroit all way to Franklin? Some of the renderings I've seen seem to exclude several of the parcels that front W 25 - particularly the building on the corner or W 25 and Detroit. Also, I really hope they can at least clean up some of those trees on the northern portion of the CMHA property. Regardless, this will be a fun project to watch. Now is the time to buy real estate in Ohio City.
