Coming March 2007: urbanup.net

Is this a site you are creating? More details please!

I would like to use it as a resource for urban centers. My first attempt will be at obtaining and posting the histories of past, current and future development projects and historical structures. There is a lot of information out there, especially within this forum, but sometimes the threads are endless and finding quick, up-to-date information can be a pain. I want to streamline it, provide information in a one-stop-shop.

It will be based on the content-management-system at Abandoned where any registered user can edit it, or add photographs to. It would be nice to have one centralized site for this stuff, where people don't have to go and upload images to Photoshack, etc. and then link it all over the place.

Plus, it will fulfill a personal obsession. I have a lot of images and a lot of information, but it has went to Wikipedia articles which I kind of frown to now.

More information will be coming soon on it though.

Cool concept for now!

Urban Up will be online in March 2007.

What is Urban Up? It will be a web-site profiling the redeveloping city centers from new development projects to the historic cornerstones that have helped keep our cities alive. Transportation, parks, gateways and more will be covered as well.

Urban Up will be a community-dependent site and will be something that anyone can edit and add photographs to. If you wish to help out on this project, please register for an account! You will receive a notification in the e-mail stating specifically when it will be online.

What does Urban Up need? Articles on building projects, from the historical aspects to what's planned for the future. Renderings and photographs. And more!

What features will be available?

1. Blogs for each user,

2. User profile options with keyword searching,

3. Keyword searching for all images and locations,

4. External links to other sites (wink wink),

5. And more.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Comments requested!

Currently, I imported the article I wrote for Wikipedia, did major cleaning and reorganizing and posted it. There are no photographs because I'm still working on the Building listing feature (which will work in part with the City listing feature). Comments are requested, especially in the 'At a glance' section and the general formatting.

You can see what kind of formatting options (and limits) are available at this page if you are curious.

Public replies only please. Thanks!

When I first saw this post, I thought urbanUP was going to be a parody of urbanOHIO focusing on Michigan's UP.  :drunk:

I was kinda looking forward to pictures of Ishpeming and Escanaba, as well as other "urban" treasures of the Upper Peninsula...  :|
