"Low-fare airline Breeze Airways announced it’s adding summer flights to Norfolk, Virginia, from the Akron-Canton Airport.

 

The service, which began Thursday, June 1, comprises flights on Thursdays and Sundays through Sept. 3. To launch the service, Breeze is offering the routes at $50 (one-way) if purchased by Monday, June 5.

 

Norfolk is the airline’s sixth route from the Akron-Canton Airport. It also offers service from Akron-Canton to Charleston, South Carolina; Las Vegas; and Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach, Florida."

"Low-fare airline Breeze Airways is adding another nonstop route to Florida from the Akron-Canton Airport.

 

Breeze on Tuesday, July 18, announced it will launch a winter and spring seasonal route, starting Nov. 16, to Fort Myers, Florida. The flight will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. To launch the service, Breeze is offering the routes with fares starting at $59 (one-way) if purchased by Monday, July 24.

 

From Akron-Canton, Breeze already offers nonstop service to Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach in Florida, as well as Charleston, South Carolina; Las Vegas; and Norfolk, Virginia."

The airline, which didn’t even exist prior to 2021, started at Akron-Canton with three destinations. It now flies to seven cities from CAK, with an eighth landing this fall, drawing travelers from throughout Northeast Ohio.

The low-fare carrier on Tuesday, Oct. 24, announced it will add service from Akron-Canton to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, starting Feb. 2, 2024.

 

Fares on the route start at $39 one-way, if purchased by Monday, Oct. 30, for travel by Sept. 3, 2024, Breeze said.

 

The Raleigh-Durham flights will run twice per week, on Monday and Friday. Additionally, Breeze announced it's adding what it calls "BreezeThru" service - one-stop, without a plane change - from Akron-Canton to New Orleans, also starting Feb. 2, 2024, and running on Monday and Friday.

Akron-Canton Airport in May will add the longest regularly scheduled route in its history as Breeze Airways starts nonstop service to Los Angeles.

 

The West Coast route will begin May 23 and will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, Breeze said in a news release. Fares will start from $119 one way if purchased by Jan. 29 for travel by Sept. 3, the low-cost airline said.

 

Breeze said the route to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) from Akron-Canton (CAK) is scheduled to be seasonal, though it could be extended if it proves popular with travelers.

Holding company for private jet charter company based at Akron-Canton Airport files for bankruptcy protection

GREEN, Ohio - Ultimate Jet LLC, the holding company for Ultimate Jetcharters LLC, the private jet charter company based at Akron-Canton Airport in Green, Ohio, has joined its operating unit in bankruptcy court.

 

Late last week, Ultimate Jet filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Akron.

 

As was true for Ultimate Jetcharter’s bankruptcy filing in October, the charter airline intends to keep operating as usual while its holding company restructures in bankruptcy court.

Breeze adds new summer flight to Myrtle Beach from Akron-Canton Airport

 

Breeze Airways is adding a 10th destination from the Akron-Canton Airport, a summer-only flight to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

 

The new flight will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting June 22.

 

The new destination is Breeze’s 10th from the Akron-Canton Airport. Nonstop service to Los Angeles International Airport starts next month.

The Akron-Canton Airport is planning to add new ramps and hangar space with a $3.2 million state grant.

 

“The addition of ramp pavement to the West Side General Aviation Area provides much-needed flexibility for our current and future tenants to expand,” said Ren Camacho in the release, president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport.

Breeze Airways adds operations base, jobs at Ohio airport

AKRON, Ohio – Breeze Airways on Monday announced it will add an operations base at the Akron-Canton Airport.

 

The airline, which is known for its affordable fares, began serving the Akron-Canton Airport in June of 2021. Today, the airline offers 10 non-stop and four one-stop flights to seasonal and year-round destinations including Charleston, South Carolina; Las Vegas; Orlando; Los Angeles; and Raleigh, North Carolina. The operations base will bring more flights to the airport to better serve passengers.

 

“We’re going to establish a new crew base here that will allow us to continue delivering our exceptional experiences to our guests and continue to invest in the area as we grow. In addition to stationing aircraft here overnight to better support our future growth, this base will bring more than 60 pilot, flight attendant and maintenance jobs to the Akron-Canton Airport and community over the next three years,” Breeze’s Chief Guest Officer Fiona Kiesel said.

Breeze adding five new routes too, to Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach and Wilmington, NC. I guess my dream of one strong centralized airport for Northeast Ohio is fading further and further into obscurity. CAK is now holding its own for low cost leisure market stuff and is hanging in there too with American and United. Could see a New York route or Delta returning in future also

Akron-Canton Airport plans for the future: more service, new control tower

Akron-Canton Airport unveiled its new three year strategic plan Wednesday, including retaining and attracting air service and strengthening the airport's financial health.

The airport wrapped up its previous five year strategic plan in 2024, which included a gate modernization project, upgrading terminal Wi-Fi and expanding air service from four nonstop destinations to a record setting 22, Akron-Canton Airport President and CEO Ren Camacho said. The airport has since added two additional nonstop destinations for a total of 24, he said.

The plan addresses opportunities the airport has right now, like additional air service and investment in new technologies, while also addressing some potential challenges, like airline mergers, aircraft manufacturer delays, infrastructure needs and more federal regulations, Camacho said.

More destinations, better departure times plus hometown employees — that’s what travelers can expect from the newest Breeze Airways crew base, which opened this week at the Akron-Canton Airport.

Breeze, which started flying in 2021, plans to hire as many as 200 flight attendants, pilots and maintenance technicians by the end of the year to staff the growing base.
