Why is this such an issue in the south?  It seems like everywhere else the police don't give a crap what you photograph.  I mean, I've taken pictures under the Ambassador bridge in Detroit and border security and police just drove right past without caring.  (not that I was doing anything bad, I just think the bridge is cool).

Download this, print it, and carry it with you at all times when you are photographing buildings, bridges, etc. I had to whip it out when police began harassing me for photographing a dam and a bridge -- a case which I won FTR. The whole 9/11 incident just gave police more reasoning to harass photographers/videographers in general.

The Miami police violated the civil rights of innocent Americans when they were demonstrating against the FTAA (Free Trade Agreement of the Americas) several years ago.  They rounded up photographers, bystanders, and moderators who were there to be sure that no violence started. 

 

The police were organized by some thug named Timoney.
