I actually think this was one of the better State of the City addresses in a while.  Much like the "state of the union" these speaches often times are a lot of wishful thinking to get the room to feel good for a brief moment.  However, Frank appeared to only discuss tangible items and thinks that are and will definitely be done.  I was glad to not see a lot of talk about the lakefront and convention center - and more about the quality of life issues in the neighborhoods.  The Lakefront definitely needs attention, as does the convention center, but there are many other items that the citizens of Cleveland want.

I did not vote for Jackson - but I have been somewhat happy with him.  I do wish he was a bit more of a "cheerleader" for the city, and was more vocal about crime, but he honestly is making small decisions that I personally see impacting my neighborhood, Old Brooklyn.

I finally see that the City is putting its resources and capital plans where the people need it - SAFETY, neighborhoods, and education.  It also is noted how Frank calls downtown a neighborhood now, which it is.  During his campaign, he received a lot of press about this perceived indifference towards downtown verse neighborhoods.  Including downtown as a neighborhood - he is able to maintain his original plan of action.

I like how he's killing 'em softly with regionalism. Not too much all it once.

"We all must invest in Cleveland. Invest in our people, economy, schools and quality of life so that Cleveland and our region can grow and prosper. But, just as important, if not more so, invest in Cleveland with your attitude, an attitude of greatness, an attitude of can-do. Thank you"

Best part of the ENTIRE speech!

This is what he really meant--If you don't like it here, leave.  Otherwise, quit b*tching and get off your fat @sses to make things better!

2012 seems like the magical year huh?  "5 years" is the new "tomorrow"...
