Fifty-two people were arrested, most of them juveniles, on alcohol-related charges during a party at a Sylvania Township home early yesterday, said Earl Mack, agent-in-charge of the Toledo District of the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

He said the party, at 5931 Stewart Rd., off Alexis Road, was a celebration for a divisional playoff victory for a Catholic Youth Organization basketball team from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance.

well, at least they stayed in one place. i read in the nytimes the latest long island suburban trend is to get loaded, get in the car with your crew and go crash thru fences in front of people's houses. sometimes there is hidden concrete in the fencing and it gets ugly.

Okay a bunch of 24 and 25 year-olds hanging out with high school kids?  Granted I went out once with a 19 year-old when I was 26 but still there's a big difference between 17 and 19.

One time when I was in college my roommate and I had the wise idea to pass out 1,000 fliers randomly...at 9pm some mom dropped off a minivan full of high schoolers.  It was freaking hilarious, but we let those guys stay and HUNDREDS of people showed up.  This was right when about 1 in 10 people had cell phones (October 6, 2000 to be exact) and I remember somebody getting on their phone telling everyone to get over, this thing was HUGE. When the cops showed up, there was a traffic jam just getting down the street to our house!  Considering how people don't believe me when I tell the story, I bet nobody believed those kids when they went back to school on Monday!

Plus Mr. C, growing up playing on the CYO teams the parents used to drink like crazy at the games and after, many parents took their kids to the bar afterward.  Our end-of-season parties were sometimes at a place called Riester's Tavern.  To put it in perspective, when my grandfather was 15 and working at a service station HIS boss used to take him after work to that exact spot!

I always like it when international students see a U.S. keg party get busted for the first time.

Yankee kid: "Shit! The cops are here! Typical!"

Foreign kid: "Why?"

Yankee kid: "Because it's a party."

Foreign kid: "Why would the police come to a party? Are they in the mood to party?"

Yankee kid: "To bust underage kids."

Foreign kid: "Why?"

Yankee kid: "Because they're assholes."

Foreign kid: "No wonder you Americans are so fat. Nobody lets you have a good time. How did the police find out about the party?"

Yankee kid: "One of the neighbors probably called them."

Foreign kid: "Why aren't the neighbors at the party?"

Yankee kid: "Let's get outta here!!!"

Any one catch the name of the town where Our Lady of Mount Carmel is located??  ;)
