Very funny!  The dumb broad should have just put the cat down when it started getting cranky - pretty obvious it wasn't happy!

 "this little guy is having fun" ?? CLUELESS!!

wow talk about someone who is 100% clueless about cats. geesh ditch the tv prop and put it down fool! so i laughed right after the cat attack when she started crying...aww, but then i felt bad for her and was glad she wasnt hurt.

she really got it together and wrapped it up at the end very well tho, she was even kind of self-deprecating about it which really humanized her (the tv reporter hair and make-up generally play against humanity). so that finale was professional of her, as in the spirit of 'the show must go on.'

i love the way the cat "slaps" her in the head twice!  LOL

Also, this is why I dislike cats............too much 'tude!

Go, Cat!

Anyone who knows anything about cats knows that when they start to vocalize like that it's time to quit whatever you're doing, else you're gonna' get hurt. A dog may bark or growl without doing anything more, but cats always follow through.

OMG, that was so funny.

Yes... go cat go.

Poor Kathleen, she looked like she was about to cry.

Depends on the kitty. My kitties are quite sweet and would never think of doing such a thing.

Yep, like my dog, he would be headed for the hills with that sound  :-)

If that flea bag, had done that to me, I would have a new pair of house shoes!

Bless you, KJP.

So did they cut away from the story completely at the instant of that attack and then go back to her after a commercial or something?  And the guy back on the station obviously hasn't discovered Youtube's unblinking, unsympathetic eye (the whole "reel" comment).  Welcome to 2006, bro.

I actually saw it as it played out live ... it was brilliant. It took them a second to cut away to the pre-recorded clip. The great irony is that it was a story about someone who had sadly thrown two cats from a moving car and was being forced to do community service at the humane society. I'm sure she was probably thinking, well hell, I'd probably throw this cat from a moving car, too. They showed the clip, and she was back on the air in a matter of minutes.

oh man, you don't even go near a cat making sounds like that

It didn't look like a slap to me - kinda looked like she might have gotten some claws to the neck

that hurts

Most of the calicos I have known were pretty nice

weel, to me, the birds & mice they met might have had different opinions

I loved it when Bill told her that "this is going on a reel somewhere". I think that's basically code for this is going on youtube and you will be mocked by thousands of people for eternity. Poor woman..

And I was a little confused (paying too much attention to the cat making those awesome gutteral sounds) -- these cats belonged to people that threw a couple others out their car window?? Gee, I wonder if maybe the owners aren't the kindest people and perhaps the cats have not been particular ingratiated to human contact.

I'm sure that the cat didn't like that a large camera and bright light was pointed at it.

Yeah, that probably didn't help..

Though pretty much whatever I do, my cats just stare at me like fools. Maybe I just got lucky with a couple particularly chilled ones, but I'd like to think I had something to do with it

As long as Sharon Reed and Mizz Markina Brown are fine, who cares.

I was watching them this morning to find out about the tornado (I was in tgifriday''s for my sons birthday during the storm and knew there was a funnel cloud above us). One of the morning anchors was commenting on all the crazy stuff happening this week: earthquake, warm weather, snow, tornado. The other anchor - I think it was Bill Martin - chimed in: "attacking animals." The whole newsroom busted up laughing.

There is a follow up video posted on YouTube:

They keep showing the moment over and over.

Somewhere in here there's a crass comment involving the concepts "bitch," "heat" and "pussy."

C-Dawg?

^I wonder how many times that article has been sent to Miss Cochrane

^By me personally? About 30 times.

Ohcomon:

Let me preface this by saying I have three cats myself.

But if a stray cat went to attack me, and assuming my first attempt of dodging it missed, after the first bite from the cat it would instantly become a football and be kicked into whatever I decide to call a goal post at the time.

^  How do you do that when it is hanging off your face ?

Ouch! Even when my own cat gets like that I avoid her.

I thought it was hilarious that in the follow up story they just kept replaying the footage in slow motion as they were talking....toooooooo funny!

I've never had a cat do that to me. If you don't know how to communicate with and approach cats, better stay away from them. I get along great with them. That includes cats that friends or relatives warn me to stay away from because of how they respond to strangers. Yet I can get them to warm up to me, to start purring and even cuddle in my arms. My own cats are probably the only "children" I will ever have.

She should stick to puppies and dogs, cats are NOT where its at!!

If someone from Fox8 got that close to me I'd take a swipe too.

*Insert joke about about Dick.... Goddard here*

Who knew there were so many cat owners on here!

If someone from Fox8 got that close to me I'd take a swipe too.

hilarious!

She gives women a bad name; the newscater not the cat; lol. I knew I was a dog person for some reason but really, that noise was blood curdling; put the thing down! lol  Have to admit I'm still laughing

This was entertaining.  I love how they had a four minute follow up to the story the next day.  I like how she imediately thought about the fact that it would be up on YouTube instantly.  She said she wasn't crying, but instead was laughing, I can believe that.  Given the fact that she was on TV she was probably trying to contain herself, came off as crying possibly.  haha.  Anyway, I am not a cat fan either, somebody mentioned it before, they have too much of an atitude.

^ But

cats like fish .....

I worked with Wilma at WJW.  Always seemed nice to me.

In all seriousness I would guess that when a TV reporter is on the air they are under extreme job evaluation pressure to keep themselves focused and moving along on the story.  This probably requires them to learn to completely tune out everything else.

Just for that, peabody - I hope "you DO make it a good day!"
