Posted March 19, 200718 yr While downtown Springfield is packed with amazing architecture, demolitions and a modern central plaza drastically hurt its overall sense of place. Nevertheless, I love the city, and can't wait to see some infill and restoration projects! Sorry for the dreary pics... Astonishing old city hall and market Masonic Temple St. Johns Lutheran New ice arena site The Tecumseh Building, vacant for over 20 years; someone help! Courtyard I'm not sure what the Elderly United building once was, but it was probably a pretty fabulous building before the one-story addition that hides three sides. The Arcue Building The Regent Theater may see a renaissance Another poorly maintained beauty :( Former library  Looks to be something coming out of Geo. Clark's nose. The spectacular Bushnell Building Former Shawnee Hotel Birthplace of 4H The Clark County Courthouse is a real surprise considering the grand scale and architecture of the rest of the city. The art deco post office Have you caught it?
March 19, 200718 yr Wow! Some impressive structures. I had no idea Springfield had so many neat buildings.
March 20, 200718 yr Springfield, I still say, has the best architecture for a city of it's size in Ohio, for a smaller city. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 20, 200718 yr Springfield is defiently in a league of its own! I actually find it more impressive than the larger Canton, although I'm a big Canton fan as well.

March 20, 200718 yr The Elderly United building used to house "the market" and Mattie Guthrie's diner. This is serious way back stuff, tho. The old city building tried making it as a retail place which was kinda cool at first but petered out. Now it is the Clark County Historical society ?
March 20, 200718 yr i'd like to congradulate them on having the only city hall uglier than lorain's, although the old one more than makes up for it. they have a great group of buildings, very nice. and you didnt even include any wittenberg.
March 20, 200718 yr very nice. and you didnt even include any wittenberg. I showed this post to a friend of mine and she said the same thing. Hey, Ink, have you looked at Harry Laybourne's Images of America books on Spfld ? I have only been able to get my hands on the second one.
March 20, 200718 yr ^No, but that is a good suggestion. Perhaps I can get it via OhioLink. ^^Wittenburg is coming mrnyc. Lorain's is uglier than Springfield's during the holiday season, when the concrete columns are replaced with candy canes. Of course, Newarks might be uglier than both.
February 23, 200916 yr wow, this is really great. Any info on the land that you said was going to become an ice arena?
