um.....that sounds sooooooooo intimidating!    It sounds like a really bad barbershop quartet!

Your school probably had to have really good athletes in order to live down such a sorry name as "The Maples".

^The whole school kicked ass, athletically AND academically.

About the most threatening taunt we could devise was "The Maples Will Crush You." We had some kid in a leaf costume who would run around the sidelines, but since the costume was divided vertically with our colors--white and maroon--depending on your angle, it would seem we were called The Fightin' Klansmen.

^you're from Detroit, correct? What high school?

Here's another favorite: The Dots of Poca High School.

Birmingham Seaholm. I own a mansion and a yacht.

^I taught at U of D Jesuit for a few years, so I'm familiar with the area.

Isn't one of the main streets up there named "Maple"?

15 Mile Road is called Maple as it traverses Birmingham, though technically, Seaholm sits at the corner of Lincoln and Cranbrook. Cranbrook is taken. Lincoln...well Lincoln just sounds a little too ghetto.

More fun nicknames: my mom graduated from the long-defunct St. James Catholic in Ferndale, MI.

No, not "The Ferns."

"The Dales"

So did they ever consider this: The Seaholm 15-Miles ;)

I dated someone who was from the Charleston, WV area and the first time I heard that Poca High School in Poca, WV was actually the "Dots", I about died laughing.

One vote for the Poca Dots.

Make that two.

I didn't know they had maps up there....much less snobs.

My mom went to Point Pleasant High School (WVa.) home to the Big Black Knights which was often shortened to just Big Blacks.   Can you imagine a bunch of rednecks at a football game yelling "Go Big Blacks!"
