Well, the week is wrapping up quickly and a lot of us are getting very impatient! So let's hear some news damnit!

Nope... I own "Lendava" at the Galleria. all the ladies are invited to come and see quality clothing

THis weekend I am hosting the slovenian  ambassador from Washington after the  CLeveland marathon. He is running to raise money for the international trust fund for demining.

Yea I need lots of customers. My clothing is not for the fant heart.

:whip:?

Do you own the Adult Mart?

Fabulous!  Congrats on the store.  You have a sculpture infront, correct?  Is there an UrbanOhio discount at your store?

nope, not yet. no discounts-perhaps inthe future

But if you know anyone who is hiring,I am looking for a job on the side. :strong: :speech: :type:

Edsiou, it's awesome to hear that we have a downtown shopkeeper on the site!  I admit that I am not familiar with your shop though, as I tend not to buy too much women's clothing.  Say "hi" to the Slovenian ambassador for me.

Well dont worry, just tell your girlsfriends, that I have much better clothing than Ann Taylor.

Hey Edsiou, I just checked the Galleria website and you're not listed. Drop someone there an email to get posted-you deserve at least that for your rent.

^blame Stark for this... with all the buzz, hype and anticipation he's created, folks are getting understandably punchy waiting for him to come out from behind his self-created shroud of mystery ... This project's obviously too important... Let's hope it's not fool's gold.

If we get hoodwinked by this project, we can flog Stark and LeBron in Public Square (if they lose again tonight!).

^try Larry Hughes.  Hard for me to flog LeBron (for if it were not for him, we'd have been at home not making the playoffs at all)... At least LeBron, though cold, contributed something to the team.  Larry just turned the ball over in addition to standing there jacking up (and clanking) jumpers.

... and now, back to Pesht.

aren't we about down to the wire for a big announcement this week?  :|

^that's what people are saying.  The fact we know Stark bought 1350 W. 3rd and plans to move his HQ's there gave me hope.  But Mr. Stark seems to like to keep people in the dark.

Mr. Whitehead said Mr. Stark was not available for comment today, but the company will discuss its plans at a yet-to-be scheduled news conference next week at Cleveland City Hall.

As of last week it wasn't scheduled yet. I'm sure it will happen, just not this week.

Full article in Cleveland retail thread, nothing new though.

Developers hope others buy into ideas at annual shopping-centers convention

Sunday, May 20, 2007Henry J. GomezPlain Dealer Reporter

The future of retail in urban Cleveland could come into better focus this week as the region's top real estate developers travel to Las Vegas for the International Council of Shopping Centers' spring convention.

i guess they all have to get back from vegas with some retail deals in hand.

Yep, so probably the earliest we'll here some announcement is Thursday or Friday, but who, but Stark knows? I hope he can really sell to retailers not in Cleveland already and get commitments from them. Then rush back here and start breaking up the parking lots downtown and start building.

Yet another miniscule blurb about Stark.

Bob Stark, still looking on the prowl for retailers to sign on to his $1 billion mixed-use project in the Warehouse District, had meetings around the clock Monday. He flew home early Tuesday to observe a Jewish holiday with his family.

Don't know if anybody remembers, but when Stark was at CSU he mentioned that he spoke with Federated Department Stores and they said they would move into a project like Starks, while Tower City had been trying to get a department store for years.  He then said "you should all be clapping"... but we'll see...

Seriously.  I will clap for Bob, when there is an announcement that a deal is signed.

Show me the money...er the evidence! I like Bob Stark's ideas and daring goals, but I'm not going to call for a ticker-tape parade down Euclid until something happens.

Development would move port

Thursday, May 17, 2007

By Ken Prendergast

Brooklyn Sun Journal

A "major announcement" at Cleveland City Hall is due as early as this week and will likely provide details of a large downtown development led by developer Bob Stark.

While the first phase will be in the Warehouse District, later phases would require a major shuffling of downtown land users. New lakefront housing, shops, offices and waterfront recreation are proposed where the port of Cleveland now stands. The port would be relocated, possibly to land occupied by Burke Lakefront Airport.

KJP, you're the man!

^^ Out of curiosity, why are the neighborhoods south of the airport being consulted? Traffic concerns? Construction noise? The fact that my house might not rumble if the airshow isn't there anymore?

It's probably just the councilman trying to assert his voice as a stakeholder in the process.

If burke closes, then hopkins will be prone to delays which sucks!

Right now we have the luxury of having small corporate jets at burke therefore not interferring taxi time for commercial operations.

However, I'm willing to suffer a few extra minutes on the plain in the name of progress!

I just don't want hopkins to turn into delay hell like Boston, Philly, Newark, LaGuardia or DCA.

I don't want to spend too much time on Burke here since there's a thread for this in the City Discussion section. I posted my response at:

Stark is wasting no time in renovating the Titanic Tower (nee Cambridge Building) at St. Clair and West 3rd. Crews are busily ripping out interior fixtures and walls and putting up new wall studs. They were working this morning as well as on Saturday. I'm at that corner every Monday morning, so I'll keep an eye on what's happening there.

Good news!

KJP, you're on a corner every Monday morning?  Hummmmmmmmmmmm.  My Friend, have things gotten so bad you've been forced to "moonlight"?  LOL

Please let us know when he (they) start ripping of the 1970s era covering from the outside of the building.

PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!!

did it have a histroic facade??

The building dates from 1900, but was modernized with an new skin around the time the Justice Center was built (mid-1970s).

I do moonlight, but not as a streetwalker. You're aware of my other job, MTS. All Aboard Ohio!

I'm at the Justice Center every Monday morning to pick up police brevity reports.

Any word on whether Stark is announcing anything on Pesht

Look at all that damn parking!! Is that from MS Live?

No announcement is scheduled yet, but I'm aware of preparations for one.

Yes, it is.

I felt very ill when I saw that.

I even cropped out a bunch.

Hi all,

("The building dates from 1900, but was modernized with an new skin around the time the Justice Center was built (mid-1970s).")

The building was covered over in the late 50s, when such things were popular. It was the same time the old Baileys on Prospect and Ontario added their, so called,  modern facade. Bear hugz to all.

Jim S.

Damn, they always say it's acres and acres of parking and I never believed it until I saw that picture. That's immense.

So where will those cars go with the development? Vertical with a parking deck or two?

Thanks for the correction, Jim S.

Stark's conceptual plan from last year was to put a couple levels of parking above the ground-floor retail with residential and/or office uses above the parking. He seemed pretty committed to that concept. We'll see soon what his announced plan is.

"In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

I actually hope that he doesn't have parking garages going out to the facade on the 2nd to whatever level, but rather wraps office and residential (with balconies, lots of balconies) around the garage, al a the Avenue District.  I think that a horizontally huge parking garage will look ugly even if it is sandwiched between other uses.

I agree. It does look very ugly with the parking immediately above the retail. But, its a long cheaper that way.

So where will those cars go with the development? Vertical with a parking deck or two?

...maybe, if we're lucky, a large chunk of those cars will remain in the garages of the commuters whose butts will see the seats of the the many buses and trains that blanket the Warehouse Dist area.

I guess the buildings Stark was talking about will look something like the Fat Fish Blue restaurant in the left of this photo, except with residential in the top levels.

If the parking zone is treated correctly within the facade of the structures it could be a dynamic part of composition.  Overlapping different programs and revealing each, should be viewed as an opportunity.

funny thing about this photo, there are only a few small parking garages visible(I count 5 garages, two underground, one in an old building, and two above ground).  thus, most of the street level parking should be consolidatable within the overall design of pesht.  not to mention, it will be nicer parking than those junky lots.

i couldve sworn i read somewhere that the parking garages would be hidden from view or skirted with offices or apartments. something like the cleveland clinic has done with their latest garage. probably the nicest looking garage ive ever seen.
