Posted March 25, 200718 yr sorry this took so long, but i have access to the motherload of stock photos. i think the most important thing besides the pretty pictures is to keep in mind that this is how "stock" ohio is portrayed and available to the commercial world. ok, so first up is clev, but i'll get to other cities when i can. if you have any requests for anything in the world old or new let me know and i can search the archives for us. fyi -- please enjoy, but do not reproduce for profit or you will be in a lot of trouble! March 25, 200718 yr hmm, sometimes they came up, sometimes they didn't. i guess they are not gonna let me have'm. ugh, too bad!
March 25, 200718 yr **** i guess the mods may as well zap this thread. too bad getty is an amazing collection of commercial and new and old fine art photos, it's the stock leader used by evryone.
March 26, 200718 yr I right-clicked on each of the images, then on Properties, then copy and pasted the web address into my browser. That's the only way I could see the pictures. I liked the first two pictures, most of the rest were OK. But I didn't care for the picture showing the riverside steel mills in the background with the burnt dock piers in the foreground. March 26, 200718 yr ^ i'm sorry you had to do that kjp. too bad we cant see them more easily because in sum that was my point. this is the kind of stuff that is available to the world to use in commercial media. it's not all the best nor the most interesting. i think many off us have done as well or better than much of the "stock" commercially available stuff. however, because of the way getty acquired their images, some via buying collections, there are also "classic famous photographer" fine art photos too that are equally available -- like for example from margaret bourke-white (the one from under the bridge of the terminal tower being built). i found that kind of jarring when browsing the archives. ********************************************************************* ps -- you can browse the pics i tried to post above more easily right here. clik on them to enlarge: http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/classes/FrameSet.aspx?&UQR=pymitn&pk=4&source=front&lightboxView=1&txtSearch=cleveland&selImageType=7&chkLicensed=on&chkRoyaltyFree=on&chkNLM=on and here is the homepage link if anyone wants to go right to some general browsing: http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/home/home.aspx *** bonus: if anybody wants to get into stock photography and perhaps get paid this is the new getty-owned site for non-pros: http://www.istockphoto.com/index.php
