March 25, 200718 yr Some suggestions, in no particular order, and most is typical tourist stuff. Oh by the way where are you staying? Tower of London Westminster Abbey Houses of Parliament Science Museum Tower Bridge Windsor Castle Kensington Palace Buckingham Palace Fashion Museum Wimbledon/Wimbledon tour Jack the ripper tour (this is not the actual name, but if you ask at the hotel, they can probably tell you) Walk down Oxford, Reagent, Sloane, Bond and Jermyn Streets for specialty stores. Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Oxford Street Portobello Road and The Camden Markets Neighborhoods Waterloo Bankside Southwark the Borough Afternoon Tea - Carlton Tower or Orangery at Kensington Palace Harvey Nic's! - A must see. Make sure to get an oystercard - www.tfl.gov.uk/default.aspx. Don't forget to touch out always, or you will be charged the max fare. If I think of anything else I'll edit.

March 25, 200718 yr I'm going to be in London for four days in late May, so you've provided a service to more than just mrnyc! Thanks for the info My NO problem! I'm just honoured to have my KJP created smilie. I guess being forumer of the year, has it privileges! thx for the tips! I'm staying on the southbank by london bridge/borough stations. No problem, I just can't think of anything else. It's like being caught on the spot and not being able to remember anything. Oh...see something comes to mind. Please visit the Kensington Palace Garden Mansions AKA Billionaires Row. The homes start at around 110 Million. The guy from Mittal steel has a 130 million home there.
March 25, 200718 yr When I first saw this post I wasn't sure if you were talking about London, OH. I would be very interested in hearing about where you stay.
March 25, 200718 yr I wasn't sure if you are asking me where I'm staying, but MyTwoSense inadvertently referred to the location. We're staying at the Oxford Hotel (www.oxfordhotellondon.co.uk), just north of Kensington Gardens. The arrow points to the hotel's location on Craven Terrace... March 25, 200718 yr ^ lol! kjp how did i know of all people you would find the hotel nearest to cleveland square (look just north on the map -- it's under the 'ba' in 'bayswater')?!! i'll be sure to walk the point and take you a snap of the nabe if i make it up around there ( i expect to be getting lost a lot from what i read). just for fun -- some google stuff about cleveland square, london: and more: Cleveland House on St. James’s Square in the heart of London’s prestigious West End is a 6,782-square meter building encompassing seven floors of premier office space which has set the pace for some of the highest lease rates in the city. ***ps -- we're longtime hostelers, i'm staying at st christopher's orient espresso - check out my dorm room pics - lol!: http://www.reservations.bookhostels.com/st-christophers.co.uk/hosteldetails.php/HostelNumber.504/PHPSESSID.ukgnt21014hboldk36c7j95vob7rpm75?PHPSESSID=ukgnt21014hboldk36c7j95vob7rpm75
March 26, 200718 yr mrnyc: also make sure to see Covent Garden, which is a pretty cool marketplace. If you want to see the changing of the guards, note that they only do it every other day in the winter (odd days I believe). I wasn't prepared for that and therefore missed it. They may have switched back to a normal schedule now, but you never know. If you miss seeing the guards there, you can always see one guard standing just outside St. James Palace. Not sure if this how you want to do your sightseeing, but you might try buying a ticket with the Big Bus Company. I know it's a cheesy kind of way to sightsee, but since I only had the weekend during a business trip, it helped me get the lay of the land quickly and also see a bunch of sites that I might not have otherwise made it to. On my second day, I honed in on the sites that I wanted to see in more detail. In the winter, the normal one-day 20 pound ticket is extended to two days at the same price. I've had a bunch of pictures from my trip in early February sitting on my PC for awhile. One of these days I'll try to find some time to post.
March 26, 200718 yr FregntFlyr, good catch, I forgot about the changing of the guard. The big bus is like Grey Line in NYC
