They should make it the worlds largest Cheescake Factory, add some faux paint textures here and there and some Egyptian columns and there you go

  • This video is wild:     The host of the gala, the developer George Herscu, would be bankrupt and in jail in Australia a year later. A sign of things to come.

what is char ruse?

I think any attempt to revive the mall totally ignores the fundamental flaws of the mall's location.  Unless there is a new proposal to turn it into an office park or something, just tear the thing down.

What a shame. Oh well, maybe someday it will look like Dixie Square mall in Harvey, Illinois!

I seriously dont believe that would happen to this mall. Dont think Ohio would let a mall like that stand.. even though rolling acres is still around yet closed..

Except that the mall concourse just closed, and Penny's outlet and Sears are still open...

Wait, Cincinnati Mills concourse???

No he's talking about Rolling Acres, there has never been a Penny's or Sears at Cincy Mills

cincinnati mills and rolling acres have alot in common.. location and teens...  The teens from forest park area hang out in the mall and have caused a bother to some patrons as did the teens from the blue color Akron neighborhoods surrounding rolling acres did in the late 80's -mid 90's.  Cincinnati mills is based in an area off a major highway that has two decent malls each at 2-3 exits away off the same highway. Rolling acres based in an area where it once thrived due to location being in a blue color/common man area could not compete with the other 2 Akron malls. .  I do think that cincinnati mills is more of a jewel than rolling acres because of highway access.. Redevelopment will most likely be announced within a year I hope.

difference as of today.. one is alive while the other is dead.!.

Trust me, if Cincy mills ever would have stole those stores from Tri-County, we wouldn't be having this conversation!

Aeropostle left last week and American Eagle is leaving this week. soon to be a ghost town..

Dixie Square, here we come!

My photographs and information from Abandoned was featured in "Shopping Centers Today" April 2009, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers. What a ... dead mall. Ronny, I am telling ya, it is as good as abandoned!

Can we rename the thread either "Forest Fair Mall d/b/a Something Else Now" or "Cincinnati Mall"?

Done!

Nice rename.

ha ha ha .lol.  I talked with a manager a johnny rockets.. they a leaving real soon.. auntie anns too.. Gamestop is in talks to move to the shopping center where Bearen moved to. I have no reason to go to this mall anymore except for Bass pro.. when that and khols move..it will die real fast.!.

Well, Simon all but took the mall to hell. They knew that when they completed Monroe Premium Outlets, that Cincinnati Mills, with its hybrid outlet setup, would die. What better way to profit than to sell the mall before its death?

I would assume to make it operate profitably and stay alive

Indoor Paintball!!    Urban warfare style!    Capture the flag with three different teams starting in the far reaches of the three different legs of the mall.

That sounds awesome

I'd be there for that... Dont think it would make enough money to stay open long though.

You heard it here first, "Cincinnati Mills is the nicest abandoned mall in the country"

They could add foilage for cover, knock out some of the skylights and add ziplines to accommodate multilevel combat!

Invite all the graffiti artist from Northside and Camp Washington to come in and just go to town to give it that "end of the world" anarchist/commie feel.  This could work!

war zone paintball... I dont know if there would be a complex like it in the world.. it would be an attraction.. probably always booked on weekends..

If only it were abandoned. :-o

Totes is now considered an anchor? You know a mall is dead when...

^I don't see what the problem is.  This is a locally-based company filling a void.

I wonder if the mall has made any effort to move the remaining tenants into a single wing.

The giant Cincinnati Mall, struggling to lease space

By Dan Monk & Lucy May, Cincinnati Business Courier | January 22, 2010

A year after changing owners and 10 months after changing names, Cincinnati Mall is fading again.  Treehouse Kids Co. and the Guess Factory Store this month joined a growing list of tenants closing up shop in the region’s largest shopping center, formerly known as Cincinnati Mills and before that, Forest Fair Mall. Local real estate brokers say anchor tenant Bass Pro Shops is exploring options as its lease nears expiration, too.

“It’s a bad situation there,” said Treehouse Kids owner Scott Jasper. “It’s just about empty now.”  Beyond the leasing woes, the property is one year late on payments required under a 2004 bond deal. Forest Park Finance Director Harlita Robinson said the mall’s new owners missed a $1.2 million payment last February. Another $1.3 million is due in a few weeks. The money is needed to cover debt service on $18 million in revenue bonds, used to finance a parking garage and road improvements.

Bye bye, mall.

A year? Why can't they pay something instead of NOTHING at all????? No one goes there because there is not stores period. Watch Bass and Fish leave. It was happening when they had the movie Theatres

Cincinnati Mall's cinema shuts down

By Laura Baverman • [email protected] • March 2, 2010

FOREST PARK - Showcase Cinemas is the latest in a string of stores and attractions to vacate Cincinnati Mall, Cincinnati's largest indoor mall.

In the year since new owners bought the 1.6 million-square-foot Cincinnati Mills, renamed it Cincinnati Mall and announced plans to redevelop it, the center has lost a dozen tenants and fallen delinquent on its property taxes.

The theater on the mall's second level showed its last films Sunday. Guess Factory Outlet, Lane Bryant Outlet and Treehouse Kids also closed their stores in recent months.

The article also points out  that Bass Pro has 6 years left on its lease

Im sure the Bass Pro will move to near Union center.

^Yeah, the real question will be whether they stick out that 6 year lease agreement or if they decide to bolt prior.

Bass Pro, as a destination store, may stick around until the end of its lease regardless of what happens to the mall.

Bass Pro should be an anchor at Cincinnati Millworks...

No it shouldn't.  That store belongs in the country or outer suburbs, not in the city.  For practical reasons (more people in the country hunt and fish than city dwellers), as well as for aesthetic reasons (who wants that giant trashy store located prominently in the city?) it should not go in Millworks (if that project ever happens).

Im sure they won't keep their lease. They will just simply close the store just like all the others have done and just open another store. The mall has not kept their end of the bargain by bringing in customers and more stores.

^^As stated before, BPS is a destination store ala Ikea. I'd prefer to bring those "in the country" that normally wouldn't come into the city in and possibly visit other city offerings after their BPS stop.

Besides, if Cincinnati Mills were ever to be built, there would be at least one big box store as an anchor. Hell, it's be right next to multiple box stores in Center of Cincinnati.  And I've never thought that BPS were "trashy".

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

^I guess that's just a difference of opinion.  I think Bass Pro is a hick store that caters to a trashy clientel.  I've been in the Bass Pro at Forest Fair once, and the whole store seemed like the set of the Redneck Commedy Tour or something. No thanks...

^To each his own!

This trashy hick spent $1400 there last year.

They seem to do well, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Cabella's take interest in our region in the near future.

Is it me or do many kind of have a bad vibe for Cincinnati Mall?

I went there one time, about four years ago and was very impressed. I have been to many malls in the midwest (though there is many I have not been to) and I thought the design and looks, and just the square footage of the place was just over the top! It was going good then it seems. I take it Biggs is no longer there, and apparently the movies will not be either. What is so ironic is that the Tri-county mall still seems to be holding quite well, with crazy city and such.

I wonder if there is just to much competition on the north end of town. It seems weird there is no mall on the east end. (Harrison or Indiana)

Anyway, I just think it is sad that the mall on the list of one of the best on the Interstate 75 book now may be closing. I really thought highly of it when I was there last time, as it is unlike any other mall I have seen (outside of urban centers).

^I-75?

... This trashy hick ...

I knew it! ;)
