Mariemont, Spring Grove now national historical sites

WASHINGTON - The Village of Mariemont and Spring Grove Cemetery were designated Tuesday as National Historic Landmarks, each singled out for being a model in design.

The sites were among 12 places across the country that were designated as historic landmarks by the U.S. Interior Department. Other sites included a synagogue in Pennsylvania, a house in California designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and the former home of Queen Lilioukalani in Hawaii.

Both are equally deserving of such title.

It seems like this was already posted...and ColDay had the same response.

Am I losing my mind?

I couldn't find any thread on here that would even loosely relate.  I am reluctant to start new threads, because there are usually threads already in place that cover the general topic (thx grasscat).  But as for ColDayMan....his responses do often blur together!

Cemetery to mark honor

April 25, 2007 | CINCINNATI ENQUIRER

CINCINNATI - Spring Grove Cemetery plans to celebrate being named a National Historic Landmark with a series of events starting at 2 p.m. May 25.

The day will be marked with speeches in the cemetery's Civil War section, a brief tour of the most historically significant grounds, refreshments and unveiling of the landmark plaque from the Department of the Interior.

Does the city pay for the maintenance of Spring Grove? It is private property, right? But it can't be generating a lot of income.

There is a lot of room left in SGC.

They have property extending up onto Spring Lawn.

Yeah but its not in the cool part :]
