Condos planned for site on river

More high-rise condos and office spaces are planned for Newport's riverfront.

This time the land is the site of the Riverchase apartment complex across Columbia Street from Newport on the Levee and adjacent to the $1 billion residential/retail/office complex known as Ovation.

i like the optimism and the intent...hopefully this guy can pull it off.  i wonder if the banks were available to individual developers such as this...would these project also going up on the cincy side?

we need a chicago river mentality for developing the riverfront.

Nice! I was wondering when the western part of Newport would be developed. It seems so barren on that side...

I can't wait for the renderings.

Call me crazy, but wasn't Riverchase apartment complex part of the area planned for the overall ovation project?  I thought that Corporex was planning on trying to pick-up all the lots to the east including Riverchase and Travelodge.  Wonder if this isn't just a play by the Riverchase owner to try to increase the asking price in negotiations with Corporex.

I would highly doubt it for a couple of reasons.  First of all much of the Cincy riverfront (aside from the Banks) is already developed or being developed (East End).  Second of all...it lacks one thing that those retirees want out of their retirement condo....a view of the Cincinnati skyline!

Very true, I wish it wasn't always portrayed as a competition.  I know that I also do the Cincy v. Nky thing, but living in the Cincy region also forces you to do so.  If you act friendly towards Nky then the Nky'ers claim victory...its a sick cycle!

I just don't see this project coming to fruition...between the Banks, Ovation and the other multiple condo tower projects...I just don't see the demand; even if the wait until 2010 to complete the first tower.  We already have about a 3 year surplus once these current construction projects finish up...when the Banks and Ovation get to the point of large numbers coming on line....you could see a 5 year surplus taking us at least until 2012 before real demand starts to come back.

But we'll wait and see I guess....

lol ... you're reading too deep into this, man.

I'm just saying that every project that happens takes that turn eventually.  I just wish it wasn't the case...but it is funny that I get upset about it.  I guess I'm just a little too passionate.

Well it has been over a year since this release first came out, and nothing.  I wonder what happened?

I've been wondering that myself.  Personally, I've always believed that this project was only announced because the land sits between NOTL and the proposed Ovation.  I got the impression that the guy was just trying to lure one of those 2 into purchasing the land from him while it was "still available", but that's 100% conjecture on my part.

Well if we want to talk competition, the QCS tower will show all the towers who's their daddy lol.
