So, having reviewed the thread, I see that the start time is 11am, which means we'll leave Cincinnati at 9am, returning after Phase I of the meet at 4pm...I believe I'm driving David and Jake, which means there's still one empty seat...

I just very well might show up to this...although I don't really like to venture outside the I-275 beltway.

Really?  And here I thought that you were planning to have your penthouse in Atlanta, Portland, NYC, or some other big city.  ;)

^LOL!!!

I'm glad to see the bride and groom saw the error of their ways.

Looks like we got a party started here...

Well, I'm kinda new to the site but since the meet is in my hometown, I would like to add my name to the list!

^Welcome aboard, tough guy!

I was thinking it was THIS Saturday for some reason. Next Saturday won't be a problem at all.

So just to re-cap, who all is coming? Ethan (Riverviewer), Rando, myself, Jake, Kingfish, yubhatin, ColDayMan; anyone else? Jeremy you better tell me you're coming!  Brewmaster? Columbusite? CHM_Downtown?!

Pope, mi casa es su casa if you want to pull a jihad in my house while I'm not around. Just kidding...that's not funny. Ahem, anyways..

Everyone from Cleveland should try to come as well, if they can. Columbus is in the middle of the state--not very far from all of us. There's no excuse if you have no big obligations.

no I'm definitely coming. Don't worry, pope has peeps all over this grand land, i'll be crashing somewhere in VV.

Where is Columbus?

Why I oughtta...

Oh, I'll have to make it. Do you mind if I invite the CU crew (of which I'm a part of?) Universes would collide. And "Town Rich" ColDayMan? It's OK, I'm embarrassed for both of us.

And "Town Rich" ColDayMan? It's OK, I'm embarrassed for both of us.

Um, that was probably my mis-type. Sorry. I'm new around here. I can hardly find my front door.

As for your CU friends. Sure. We'll meet you at the corner of Town and Rich.

(Get it? They run parallel. Ah, map humor).

Press Release:

Jeremy is going to the Urban Ohio November 3, 2007 Columbus meet.

ok, looks like I am going to make it, along with my sig. other.  Thanks david for pointing this out to me.  I didnt even see this was going on.  I mean I thought it already happened like 5 months ago.

I can make part of the meet. I have work from 4:15AM until 1:30PM, so I can probably arrive around 1:45-2:00PM.

so whos all going from cincy?  David, Rando, you best be planning on staying and getting rip-roaring drunk with me.  You'll have a floor to sleep on if you do  :-)

^eh...I have to work the next day at 7am.

RV is driving us back to Cinci around 4pm and I have to work that night, probably until about 12-1am. I'd be down after that, if you'll be back in Cincinnati. I dont have to work sunday. We could get drunk and make fun of Columbus' shortcomings!

I'm going to have a lot of felonies to be committing in ohio this weekend.

I'm so totally IN!

LOL! Well, Randy and I had a conversation about it. I was defending Columbus of course. Most people in Cincinnati think its a sprawly mess but don't realize how vibrant the inner city is. I do think Cincinnati has better architecture in the inner city but the vibrancy of the short north is unmatched. Can't deny that. I think a lot of CIncinnatians will be shocked. The fact that we're short on Columbus members here is kinda misleading as well. There's a lot going on in Columbus but it's hard to realize that as someone who regularly visits this site.

I would but I am staying in C-Bus all weekend.

Agreed.  The one thing Cincy is missing is a short north type place.  Although C-Bus is missing a few things in which Cincy has.  But yea, C-Bus is fun and vibrant and I love the short north.

Part of the "problem" and one of the reasons that I don't participate in these forums like I used to is that no matter what you show or how much you try and inspire some appreciation of what is here, people will continue to compare to what they know instead of embracing the differences between the two. That and the fact that a lot of people just don't care.

^Seriously.

How is it this thread is already turning into a versus thread?

^^I only compare Columbus against its potential. Based on that, sometimes Columbus makes me grumpy.

It's what happens when you allow comments from people who live in hellish nightmare cities like Cleveland and Cincinnati.

^only perpetuating the vs. thread atmosphere.

^Me thinks KOOW's comment was tongue-in-cheek.

Though koowy, if you reeeally wanted to strike a chord, you would've spelt it Cinncinatti. ;-)

Edited to correct KOOW's name...don't know what I was thinking!

Hey, don't throw my name into that mess of a conversation!  I've got nothing against Cbus...except that it has a weak downtown.  Other than that I agree and appreciate all it has to offer and enjoy.

To be clear, Randy wasn't trashing Columbus or anything, in case my post is constructed in a way that sounds like that. I'm just saying they're very different cities but I think the Cincinnatians will be pleasantly surprised. Whatever.

Pope--I think we're all mature enough to have an intelligent conversation about what we do and do not like about aspects  of certain cities.  I would agree this isn't the best thread to discuss it but I don't see anything wrong with the subject itself.

I don't trust you forumers to the south.

Apparently the wedding's on so I'm not coming.  I haven't talked to the groom in 2 months despite emailing him and then he called me this afternoon making sure I was still coming.  Good thing I don't have a life or else he'd been up a creek.  I'm supposed to be there noon-9pm.  Unless people think they're still going to be partying around 10:30 I'll have to skip this one.

Alas...would have been fun...next time!

Well, that does free up a spot in my car, if there are any last-minute Cincinnatians interested in going...

UGH.

Count me in as a possibility RiverViewer. I'll be in Cincinnati anyhow Saturday, so maybe...

i can't wait for columbus, my 7th favorite city in ohio!

seicer if you dont go, im gonna straight up murder your ass....

(ok so i realize this is bad humor on a forum like this but im just quoting anchorman, and I say it all the time, and it fits here.  Just to clarify, I couldnt kill a fly, much less a person.  Hopefully ppl dont get mad, but I wanted to say it.)

I think David will join you in that.

that high huh?

I think David will join you in that.

yea, and if you think your nipples hurt now, just wait 'til David gets ahold of them if you dont go.

Will we all be sharing the car together?

I can deal with this. I was planning on going to Cinci anyways to do a photo shoot, so if we can be back around 4 or after, would anyone be interested in jaunting about town? I'll drive :)

^Noozer'll be there too, not to mention "Forgotten Columbus" author Andy Henderson.

Oh freakin sweet. I talked to Andy a lot on-line since he runs Forgotten Ohio, which was inspiration for my web-site, Abandoned. Nice!
