Posted April 22, 200718 yr Are there any minor league sports fans on here? I follow the Canton Legends (AIFA) pretty closely, and I worked for the ill-fated Wayne County Rumble (CIFL) for about a month last year...they're going to play in Tallmadge this season.
May 10, 200718 yr I had never heard of these teams, so I looked them up. It looks like the Rumble really suck this season.
May 13, 200718 yr I don't have time for minor league sports...its professional with a decent showing from D1 NCAA, and since I am a natural born Cincy Westsider there is some HS athletics in the mix as well (Go Highlanders). After those, I am too diluted to pay attention to minor league.
May 13, 200718 yr Well, some people are from cities without certain professional sports teams, so... "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 14, 200718 yr ^I know...I simply stated my position. I didn't say that is how everyone should be. If I were from Dayton, I would be a big Dragons fan...Toledo and I'd be a Mudhens fan. But I'm not so...
May 14, 200718 yr And thanks for contributing your opinion in a sports thread you don't care for ;). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 14, 200718 yr The question was if there are any minor league sports fans on here...I gave my response/answer and then gave the rationale behind it. *insert token smiley here*
May 14, 200718 yr The question didn't ask "Why UncleRando doesn't care for minor league sports." The question was if there are any fans here. :) "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 14, 200718 yr Why do I even have these conversations with you...its hopeless. :-D :-) :-( :-o :? 8-) :x :-P      :| :shoot: :wtf: :wink2: :yap:  :whip:  :drunk:  :strong:  :behind: :jo: :fight: :banger: :weird: :argue: :type: :bang: :bang2: :box: :speech: :cool2:
May 14, 200718 yr I mean, you're the one that is wrong in this case :). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 14, 200718 yr And thanks for contributing your opinion in a sports thread you don't care for ;). Well at least I contributed something to this thread. It was my opinion...I didn't know that it was wrong to state your opinion on a blogsite. The question didn't ask "Why UncleRando doesn't care for minor league sports." The question was if there are any fans here. :) You're right...I said whether or not I was a Minor League sports fan (answering the question), then I gave the rationale behind it...clearly too much substance for one post...I'll keep it to one-liners that are harmless: Are there any minor league sports fans on here? No, not me
May 14, 200718 yr I like the Akron Aeros, but I can't say that I follow them with any regularity. I try to make a game every summer, though.
May 14, 200718 yr i keep mild tabs on the Mudhens since I'm a tigers fan. But you won't see me checking box scores daily.
May 15, 200718 yr Well at least I contributed something to this thread. It was my opinion...I didn't know that it was wrong to state your opinion on a blogsite. Oh, you did alright... You're right...I said whether or not I was a Minor League sports fan (answering the question), then I gave the rationale behind it.. The question implied discussion on minor league teams. It's the whole "read between the lines" thing they taught you out in Oak Hills. ...clearly too much substance for one post...I'll keep it to one-liners that are harmless: Please do. Are there any minor league sports fans on here? No, not me Ah, now we move on. And for the record, Go Dragons! May 15, 200718 yr ^Like I said before... Why do I even have these conversations with you...its hopeless.
May 15, 200718 yr I used to go to Clippers games all the time as a young child. But because I had free tickets (they had to do something to get people to show up lol).
May 15, 200718 yr ^They also have wing night as well, fyi ;) "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 15, 200718 yr my favorite minor league memory is once i went to a mudhens game at the old toledo rec center where it was a double header with the game and then "pro" wrestling afterward. first they put this giant spring coil over the pitcher's mound. then they put the wrestling ring over it. very hokey. the wrestlers were running in the stands and diving on the ring. i went with a bunch of retarded people (seriously, as in a group home) and we were all howling laughing. hee hee ha ha.
May 15, 200718 yr i went with a bunch of retarded people (seriously, as in a group home) and we were all howling laughing. hee hee ha ha. Ahh...the mystery is solved, you were a passenger on the short yellow bus! :-D
May 15, 200718 yr "Columbus Clippers, our team is number one, Columbus Clippers, our fans are half the fun! No matter who they're playing, they'll always play 'em well, Columbus Clippers, ring your bell!" *Cowbells ring* "They'll always be team players, they'll never let you down, That's what makes our Clippers the talk all over town! No matter if they're winnin', or if they've had a spell, Columbus Clippers, ring your bell!" *Cowbells ring* "Catch that Clippers spirit, help 'em score another run, Catch that Clippers spirit, keep a-ringin' till we've won! Get behind our Clippers, so the final score will tell, Columbus Clippers, ring your bell!" *Cowbells ring* Ahhh...the memories. I remember I always wanted a cowbell to ring at Clippers games as a kid. It's a shame they don't play the song anymore (or so I've been told).
May 16, 200718 yr are they good wings? No. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 31, 200718 yr I had never heard of these teams, so I looked them up. It looks like the Rumble really suck this season. Uh, yeah...about that. The Rumble were originally slated to play at the Toledo Sports Arena...they backed out or something, so they came to Wooster. We were all pretty hyped about it, but they never bothered to be sure of how many people the Alice Noble Ice Arena could hold. When they found out it would be too expensive for too few people, they left. The whole thing has been a joke and if the Summit County Rumble come back next year, it will have to be with new owners. Actually, their league does have some really good teams that do everything right, but the Rumble certainly don't reflect that.
June 17, 200717 yr ...and some remotely good news (I mean, I suppose it's not that relevant considering I'll be in college for their season) Wooster is getting a professional hockey team! www.woosterwarriors.com Having already been "burned" by the Rumble experience, it will be interesting to see how this works out.
June 18, 200717 yr The most memorable minor-league experiences I had was in '94 when Darryl Strawberry was in Columbus doing a stint from one of his...ahem...'rehab' assignments. The Columbus crowd chanted Darryl as well as any New York one. That guy never got a break, even in the minors.
June 19, 200717 yr ^ speaking of that sort of stuff. one minor league moment i'd like to have experienced...kinda: there are stories of george steinbrenner and whitey ford getting on the pa during clippers games while they were roaring drunk. that would only be funny. ok maybe not haha funny, but in a cringing way. also, not exactly minor league, but to have seen the negro league all stars kick the mlb all stars butts in lima way back when would have been something too.
