So, what is going on in the background with that multistory tower? Are we marketing the airport to be a business park like Blue Ash now? It seems as if the other background renders are in situ so this big building seems deliberate and not just a generic thing for a render. image.png.4905f100c7839c248039f5b0d99fca13.png

From what I can tell, that rendering in the background is placed approximately where there are currently hangars at now. I'm fairly positive that it had nothing to do with this proposal for the terminal. Also, I don't think that building could be built at that height at that location due to FAA regulations. I could be wrong though.

Major redevelopment of Lunken Airport terminal proposed

The developer of Hotel Covington has proposed a $20 million overhaul of the historic, art deco main terminal at Lunken Airport, which would turn it into a boutique hotel, restaurant and event space.

Wetterich wrote another article about it, this time with more quotes from the developer. He mentions that a new structure will be built to the south of the current terminal. It's not clear if that's referring to the hotel itself or a new building to house the displaced companies and flight operations. FEMA, FAA, and US ACE will all have to give approval to the plan in addition to the City.

The terminal building is looking terrible these days.  Weather streaking, overgrown plants, broken concrete.

I saw these three FA-18's land at Lunken today at about 1pm.  They came in close sequence, about 90 seconds apart.

Developer Guy van Rooyen gives update on ‘tremendous’ Lunken Airport redevelopment

By Chris Wetterich – Staff reporter and columnist, Cincinnati Business Courier

Feb 4, 2025

It’s been more than three years since Cincinnati City Council approved a major redevelopment project for Lunken Airport that would bring a boutique hotel, restaurant and events center, but little has been said about it since until this week.

In an interview, developer Guy van Rooyen, CEO of vR Hospitality, which also developed Hotel Covington, said the project is back on track, will break ground in 2025 and be finished in 2026.
