Fake, all the old ladies I know who listen to 700 and 550 every day don't know that these callers are fake.  These old ladies' votes and checking accounts are easy prey for priests and politicians.  Meanwhile, I'm the villain for trying to explain to them that the callers are fake and the hosts don't actually believe what they espouse.  One of them is "praying for me".

That's scary.  But we know this is the AM model from Limbaugh on down.  A lot of older people(and willfully ignorant people) honestly take guys like Bill Cunningham for their word on air.    In one year, my grandma went from being optimistic about the world and Obama to screaming words like 'socialism', 'He's a Muslim', etc.  Two big reasons for that....AM Radio and Fox News.  Unfortunately this happens all over.  Fox news and AM radio play off people's fears and gullibility for ratings

Nick from Loveland is so obviously fake I don't know why people believe anything he says.  Hes so far over the top.  Today, he came in saying Seelbach was 'beaten up because he was gay' and that he's 'going to Chic-Filet' to protest.  But hey it worked because instantaneously the phone lines lit up and outraged conservatives called in.  700wlw is a master manipulator of the gullible

I think automatically granting certain zoning relief where affordable units are provided is a good policy, but only allowing zoning relief for affordable housing is very dumb.

Bill Cunningham is a Democrat.  He ran for office as a Democrat.  So did Eric Deters.  They're lawyers so they get off on tricking people.

Yes I accidentally deleted my comments about Cunningham but I've had some conversations with Cunningham before and he was the complete opposite of his on air persona.  He was cordial, very down the middle on issues, not foaming at the mouth, etc.  You are right.  His character sells.

I think Deters is genuinely insane though or on drugs.  Maybe he wasn't that way before, but he's gone to that scary place mentally it seems like

He's obviously on drugs.  When someone brags about only sleeping 2 hours a night and is still going a million miles an hour, they're on drugs.  But all these old ladies are unfamiliar with drugs, and still don't know so many of their kids did or still do use them.

That is disappointing to hear of Seelbach acting that way, if it's true. :|

Via Reddit: "Mr. Seelbach was wasted last night, I saw him. I also saw him sexually harass an employee. I suspect his belligerence had something to do with the assault."

http://www.reddit.com/r/cincinnati/comments/xgrc7/seelbach_i_have_no_idea_what_happened_i_am/

Any validity to these claims? These are from different people.

COAST's blog is now using Reddit as their investigative reporting arm: "We have received further reports that Mr. Seelbach started drinking on Sunday at about 7 pm and was actually cut off at one establishment before making his way to Mainstay."

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

An easy way to detect a fake caller on right-wing AM talk is if they are well-spoken. That is, unless they identify themselves as someone that's calling in to speak about themselves or their organization. Real callers generally speak in words with few syllables, waste air time, say ridiculous things and have no reasonable ideas of their own.

When I tell people about how this stuff works they do tend to believe me, but people take my word for it knowing that I was on the radio for four years.

The original comments were deleted but screenshot'ed. It's not worth reporting or going further, but if it's true, it's extremely disappointing.

If you are familiar with them, it's easy to recognize the rhetorical techniques.  And it goes both ways -- fake callers who support and fake callers who oppose.

Miss C is real, though.  I have dealt with her twice in RL.

He deleted everything apparently. It anyone had seen his old comment history they were all pretty nuts and gossipy.  I have close friends at Bakersfield who I'm pretty sure we even working that night. One has said she saw nothing and heard about nothing but that the "Seth" guy is a cook who apparently hates his job and complains about everything. Hoping to hear from the other guy as well.

Update: just talked to my other friend who confirmed he paid his bar tab (or at minimum his card was charged after he left). That Seth guy said it was comped but that appears not to be true.

Just so everyone knows, a couple sources have told me this "Marcus Polk" guy attacking Chris Seelbach in the Enquirer politics blog comment section is Mark Miller or some guy I've never heard of named Jeff Capell.  Either way, he's most likely directly linked to COAST.

He is a parody account designed to troll the comment section and parrot COAST talking points "anonymously"

Jeff Cappel is a longtime COAST goon known best for shoving Jim Tarbell back in 2009.

Something tells me everything is being a little exaggerated.  COAST is now trying to say he wasn't even attacked!

My guess:  He was pretty buzzed at Bakersfield, possibly made 'lewd comments' about an employee, possibly not, but I'm also pretty sure he's friends with several servers, bartenders and friends with the owners, so it would be a little crazy if he was really doing that when he's kind of a regular and knows a lot of the staff.

CincyGuy just said he was told by an employee that his tab was paid, not helping the conspiracy story.

COAST even getting involved in this makes me want to rip my hair out and bang my head against the wall. Unbelievable.

A fresh new article @ the Enquirer: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120801/NEWS01/308010136/Seelbach-911-call-stirs-debate

"While police continue searching for a man who physically attacked him on Monday, City Councilman Chris Seelbach on Wednesday found himself the target of verbal and written attacks, too."

[...]

"Later, he posted on the Politics Extra blog: “I was out doing what any legal aged adult has a right to do. Upon leaving a bar to walk home, I was assaulted, punched in the face numerous times and thrown to the ground. No argument or fight led up to this. It was absolutely unprovoked. I was 100% honest with the 911 (dispatcher), although obviously shaken up, as I’m sure most people would be. I’m not sure any of us know how we would respond after being a victim of an assault. And I would expect most people to understand that.”"

[...]

"Hyde Park resident Mark Miller is among those who dislike the impression they got when hearing Seelbach had invoked his city councilman title repeatedly during the 911 call. “If he was trying to misuse his position and the trust the voters placed in him to try to get to the head of the line, so to speak, that’s just disgusting,” said Miller, who serves as treasurer of COAST, Citizens Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes."

Tada.

COAST even getting involved in this makes me want to rip my hair out and bang my head against the wall. Unbelievable.

For all of COA T's rhetoric, they are just christianist Rebloodlican tea bag stooges.

I was in error.  It was Jeff Cappel pushing this judge whose name I can't remember, not Jim Tarbell:

Here's Cappel again a year later hanging around Mark Miller and Tom Luken:

Man- they are scary.  Like lose it at any time scary.

In the second video, at 4:30 you will see Mark Miller right around when he started accusing the streetcar of causing deaths through fire station brownouts.

I remember that incident, and it was absolute bullshit because the fire station closest to that fire was NOT browned out & was on seen in like 4 minutes or something.

Cappell would fit right in with Greece's Golden Dawn.

Another FYI, Mark Miller and/or Jeff Capell have created another fake facebook name.

James Dego from Las Vegas

Makes me wonder how they caught wind of Seelbach being at Bakersfield, since James Dego seemed to be the first to post about it.

^ pretty sure an employee posted it on Reddit first, then immediately took it down, then James

Dego/COAST put it up.

But the comment from that employee came after prompting by Sherman, in which he mentioned the James Dego comments, no?

Man- they are scary.  Like lose it at any time scary.

They might be one 23-year-old-wearing-a-Ninja-Turtles shirt sighting away from snapping.

I saw it somewhere online (either reddit or facebook) before the James Dego comment.

So is Cranley running for mayor or something?

Speaking tonight at 1106 on 700wlw about assault

As a public figure, he should have handed the phone to somebody else to make the call.

As a public figure, Seelbach managed to score his very own "Jerry Springer Meltdown" event.  Good luck to him as his political career now slides downhill.

exactly - because getting mugged is just like procuring a prostitute.

I really don't get this 'blame the victim' bullshit. Seelbach's the one who got jumped. He didn't do anything wrong, and there's no real evidence to suggest otherwise.

And COA T is really going overboard with the "drunk bar brawling councilman" comments. Its really out of hand.

I think it's just the circumstances that have people suspicious.  So he got "jumped."  But it doesn't sound like it was a mugging or there was any theft of any kind.  Factor in the fact he's been drinking, and the "I just got randomly jumped" story becomes tougher to sell.  (I say this having no idea what actually happened; just trying to explain why Seelbach is taking some heat.)

No one seems to be mentioning the gay angle. It hurts the right's position that it is his fault, or it could happen to anyone, or that gays are not really discriminated against. It hurts the left's position that Cincinnati is tolerant and this was a random act unlikely to reoccur.

It is one possible motive, though, which is consistent with Seelbach's story. It could also be a botched mugging.

It won't be the end of his career unless something more comes out, like if something happens with the sexual harassment allegation.

As a public figure, Seelbach managed to score his very own "Jerry Springer Meltdown" event.  Good luck to him as his political career now slides downhill.

This is a ridiculous comment.  A year an a half from now when he's up for reelection people won't be talking about how while he was walking home from a bar he got jumped and called 911 drunk.

If you think a drunk 911 call ruins a political career you don't pay much attention to politics. Sen. Vitter had sex with multiple prostitutes & has been reelected in a conservative state.  Clinton cheated on his wife & he's beloved.

It won't be the end of his career unless something more comes out, like if something happens with the sexual harassment allegation.

How the hell can you call one guys random (and immediately deleted) post on reddit a "sexual harrassment allegation".  That's hilarious.  Pretty sure the Enquirer interviewed the manager of Bakersfield and she said it was a regular night, nothing happened.

Next we're gonna read 4Chan for the inside scoop on PG's dating life or the Mayors night life.

^^ LOL.  (I guess we'll all just have to wait and see, won't we?)

Exactly.  This was an opportunistic idea of COAST designed to attack a democrat in public office.

They spread this dishonest rumor through made up facebook screen names and anonymous internet trolling.

"Marcus Polk" and "James Dego" were parroting the exact same talking points about Seelbach that just happened to be written about on the COAST website....The talking points were almost word for word

I didn't mean to make it sound official or give it credence, I was just saying that type of thing would end someone's career. In the technical sense of the word, it was an allegation.

At a recent finance committee meeting 9/24? Streetcar supporters & opponents organized & about 50 people spoke.

It was strange to hear so many people say the represented some group or demographic. I really got the impression they were just representing themselves. Even the notion of the NAACP president representing the organization in Cincinnati would be a false assumption as one joins the national organization and not the local one.

Ex-Councilwoman Murray mentioned her affiliations but didn't say she represented those groups.

I guess I'm wondering if these people are lying or if they believe they really represent somebody.

Maybe some of you will enjoy my recent exchange with P.G. Sittenfeld on Twitter:

Me: Didn’t @VotePG say that he’d “support the will of the voters” or some line like that?

P.G.: @taestell @jenlkessler thx to u both for ur advocacy. i put a response to a post on my fb page that sheds light in more than 140 characters!

P.G.: @taestell @jenlkessler i know we all want whats best 4 city + show that commitment in many ways, but have different financial risk tolerance

Me: .@VotePG The problem I & others have is that we would’ve liked to hear a clear “I don’t support the streetcar project” from you long ago.

P.G.: @taestell whether u believe it or not Ive never felt that way & I still dont There's a difference btw doing something + doing it responsibly

Me: @VotePG I’m glad to hear that. I’d just like to read more about what you do/don’t like about the current streetcar plan.

P.G.: @taestell sure! We can talk by phone, or you can even come by city hall. I certainly understand why there's so much emotion on both sides...

P.G.: @taestell ...but hope reasonable thoughtful minds can still have honest conversation ab its real liabilities + points of improvement

I realize the generational thing might be a little backwards here but what the hell - Sittenfeld has nothing to say.

I heard one time that your hair is the roots of your brain. This might be proof of the veracity of that claim.

Winburn proposes $175M fund to create jobs, reduce deficit

'Cincinnati City Council Job Growth Committee Chair Charlie Winburn has presented a proposal to use all of the proceeds from Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati to fund a revolving economic and neighborhood development job fund, which he says will help eliminate the City's estimated $40 million general fund deficit and move its pension system toward solvency.'

Haha. So, basically, he wants to spend the city's way to prosperity. How very Republican of him??
