According to an email/newsletter from the National, Homecoming will be returning this fall. Hopefully this year it pans out and they are able to get some good bands to show up with them too.

My (cool) ex just sent me the lineup, they knocked it out of the park again. It's definitely niche but they do a good job not just getting people to get people. We were at the last one (2018?) and it was an amazing time.

The National bringing music festival Homecoming back to Cincinnati this September

Indie rock band the National is bringing its hometown music festival Homecoming back to Cincinnati.

...

Tickets for this year's event will go on sale Friday, May 19.

The two-day event will be headlined both nights by the National, which released its ninth album, "First Two Pages of Frankenstein," this April. Other acts, according to a Facebook post, include: Patti Smith & Her Band, Pavement, Weyes Blood, the Walkmen and the Drin.

Pavement and The Walkmen are huge gets, both high-profile reunions and in Pavement's case who knows if they play Ohio any other time before hanging it up again. The rest of the lineup is basically the cream of the crop for contemporary indie rock plus a legend in Patti Smith.

I've heard some grumbling in other forums regarding the change in venue but with this level of talent I can overlook it.

Taylor Swift has sold out Paul Brown Stadium on both Fri June 30 and Saturday July 1.  Meanwhile, San Diego plays The Reds at Great American Ballpark both nights.  It begs the question...are The Padres staying at a downtown hotel or are they seeking refuge somewhere out in the suburbs?

MLB, NFL etc usually have contracts with hotel companies so they should be in somewhere downtown. Unfortunate for the the host hotel tho because they could have made so much more on the rooms on the open market maybe quadruple from what I’m hearing about prices during that concert weekend. This Taylor Swift concert weekend is shaping up to be absolutely giant.

There is also an FC Cincinnati game Saturday the 1st too. Im not going to any of them, but i'm definitely going to walk around town and enjoy the pure utter chaos!

Same lol

I just saw on Reddit people are pre-purchasing parking spaces downtown thru stub hub for the Taylor Swift Mega Weekend. I had no clue this was possible.......or ever necessary in Cincinnati. It sounds like it is going to be an unprecedented weekend.

Just had a convo with a downtown hotel manager who said this is shaping up to be the biggest revenue weekend ever for the food & beverage and hospitality industries. As mentioned before Taylor Swift, The Reds, FC Cincinnati and concert at The Brady Center at the banks along with it simply all taking place on a summer weekend is extraordinary. There are zero hotel rooms downtown and almost none between downtown and the suburbs. The only decent/nice one I could find was at The Summit Hotel in madisonville at 800 bucks a night.

Ive seen projections of upwards of 15,000+ ticketless swift fans that are going to surround Paycor Stadium/The Banks just to listen in.

And it doesn’t stop there. The Summer and Fall for that matter is wild. Cincinnati is hosting a Concacaf Gold Cup Semifinal doubleheader which will probably include team USA. A big P!NK concert at Great American Ballpark, Cincinnati MusicFest (which is normally Cincys highest grossing weekend money wise), Inter Miami and Messi is coming to play FC Cincinnati in the US Open Cup Semi (cheapest tickets is like 500.00 bucks right now) and of course the Western Southern Tennis Open. Wow just wow. Oh and the bengals season is fast approaching and UC kicks of BIG 12 play versus Oklahoma at Nippert Stadium. I don’t remember a time like this.

I think it's funny because many people I've talked to, and other people I've seen online are saying the exact opposite. I think this is the real urban/rural divide; when you hear that downtown is going to be packed and energetic and filled with people... they want to actively avoid it. I'm with you; my wife and I don't have tickets to any of the events but plan on going over to experience the hopefully Blink-like crowds and energy around downtown/OTR.

Really? My Co Worker in Pittsburgh said Taylor’s Stage setup/sound tech was really good and they could hear it easily. Although the stadium speakers may be the same at Paycor different tours sound quality can vary a lot. Guns and Roses was 2016/7 years ago if I’m not mistaken.

I bet the sound is different spots.  I was there with my pup in the lawn where the ICON front yard (back yard?) is now and it was loud enough to hear the song at least. Awful quality, but still "listenable". Joke on G'n'R intended.

Update: Apparently Taylor’s tour pushes music out of each venue (via positioned speakers) as a treat for those who couldn’t get tickets. The tour is aware that thousands show up in each city to listen in.

Is she going to open with Welcome To The Jungle?

I took these photos yesterday...is Taylor going to zip line down from this perch?

Crews putting finishing touches a couple days ago

IMG_4453.jpeg

I rode my bike through the Swift crowd today.  It was...hilarious.

The women seemed to be dressed in the following categories:

1. County Fair (boots, cowboy hat)

2. Nashville Bachelorette Party (again, boots and cowboy hat)

3. Dressed like Taylor Swift herself

4. Gymnastics/Cheerleading meet

5. Ginies

6. Mermaids

Zero male fans.

I went down there and checked out the chaos during the show. There were probably 20k people outside listening to the concert without tickets.

You could actually hear pretty well from Elm Street and on the South side of the stadium. Pretty cool seeing so many people hanging out downtown.

On the Banks side of the stadium there were some street performers really drowning out the music, which was lame.

Voices of America Country Music Fest founder aims to put Cincinnati 'on the map'

A blank canvas confronted Tyler Wogenstahl in 2022 when he looked out at Voice of America Park in West Chester Township and decided this grassy field would be the home of his newly conceived music festival.

Blink festival expanding in Northern Kentucky for 2024 edition, moving to new city

When the Blink festival returns this October for its fourth incarnation, it will expand its footprint to a new local community.

Blink, the nation's largest public art, light and projection mapping show, will expand to Newport for the 2024 edition, which takes place Oct. 17-20. It's the first time the festival will expand to that Northern Kentucky city, after making it across the river to Covington for the first time in 2019 and again in 2022.

The expansion is made possible through an investment from MeetNKY, Northern Kentucky's tourism and convention services bureau. The funding amount was not made public.

So basically if you go each night you can break it down to one night in OTR, one in Downtown, one in Covington and one in Newport.

America's River Roots Festival is being announced right now for October 2025, its not quite Tall Stacks, but it has the potential to be pretty amazing. Dessner is involved on the music side, the bourbon trail is involved on the Kentucky side, Cincinnati is hosting, and hopefully it all comes together to be a real draw. If we could alternate this and blink every other fall it would be an amazing yearly showcase. One with classic roots and history of the region, and the other with modern art and technology around the urban basin, could be really special.

Cincinnati plans huge America's River Roots festival to mark nation’s 250th birthday

Cincinnati leaders are planning a major music, boats and culinary festival aimed at bringing hundreds of thousands to the riverfront to mark the nation’s 250th birthday.

The America’s River Roots festival will run from Thursday Oct. 9, 2025, through Oct. 12, 2025, with events spanning from Smale Riverfront to Sawyer Point in Cincinnati, as well as sites in Covington and Newport.

A cultural tourist event, America’s River Roots will feature visiting celebrity chefs, nationally recognized musicians and riverboats. The names of participants and details on cruise tickets and merchandise sales will be announced at a later date.

“America's River Roots will focus attention on the Ohio River Valley region and its impact on the nation's growth and shaping of our diverse cultures,” said developer Rick Greiwe, event co-chair. “The event will deepen this awareness with roots music, river cuisine and cultural experiences along our world-class riverfront. Area residents will connect with our common roots and visitors will discover the heritage of America’s inland river culture.”

Is it just me or is the symbol used for Newport, the Peace Bell, no longer there? I thought it was moved away because that block is getting developed. With the exception of some large mural walls at the Levee and maybe the courthouse or Thompson house, what are they planning on projecting on in Newport?

Buzz. In the music world, it's hard to define and even harder to create.

This year, MidPoint Music Festival aims to be "Where the buzz begins." The slogan nails the event's goal of bringing the music of independent artists to potential new fans and industry supporters.

For the festival itself, the buzz started when it was launched three years ago by two Cincinnati musicians, Bill Donabedian and Sean Rhiney. And this could be the year, the two say, that the noise generated by the event reverberates loudly enough to prick up ears on the national scene.

Cincinnati's Talk Low Festival features music designed for 'deep listening'

Music festivals are not unusual. Fans of rock, country, jazz and other mainstream genres can easily find multiday events that appeal to them, especially in warm weather months.

Experimental music, however, can be more difficult to discover. That’s what makes the Talk Low Festival that runs Sept. 24-29 at locations in Northside, Over-the-Rhine and downtown intriguing.

The event is the creation of Ryan Hall, the man behind Whited Sepulchre Records, the sponsor of the shindig. It features not-quite-household names Laraaji, Claire Rousay, Joy Guidry, Niecy Blues, plus local artists Five Pointed Stars and Shermvn, among others. It is billed as providing context for ambient, jazz, indie rock, electronic and all genre shadings in between for “deep listening and thoughtful engagement” in a live setting.

Cincinnati.com reporting a major summer event/concert announcement coming Thursday morning. The Bengals stadium will host. Hopefully it’s a giant one like Beyoncé. But no idea. I would assume its a huge one if all these folks are in attendance? On the flip side interesting Anthony Munoz and Dan Hoard would be in attendance so this maybe some kind of one off thing.

Rod Stewart and Billy Joel, September. I’m sure it will be nice but was hoping for more.

Har to believe those two will sell out a football stadium.

"It's just fate, as usual, keeping its bargain and screwing us in the fine print..." - John Crichton

Yeah I'm not old enough to be in the demographic for this one, but some older artists have huge catalogs of songs that I would be willing to pay to see just knowing the artists won't be around forever. But these two artists have combined like 5ish good songs. Not that Rolling Stone magazine is the be all end all; but on their list of 500 greatest songs of all time, Billy Joel and Rod Stewart have zero. Not to mention Rod Stewart is 80 years old, which I guess finally answers the question to "da ya think I'm sexy".

Yeah amazing if they do it. The media did a horrible disservice by hyping the announcement with the Post Malone-Beyoncé clickbait speculation. LOL yikes this one fell really flat it certainly didn’t need a press conference.

OTR Film Festival balances weighty cinema with upbeat celebration

Films about disability, diversity, freedom, faith and identity are on the bill for the Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival over a three-day event in March.

Now in its thirteenth year, the festival uses the art of cinema to present stories that celebrate differences and create windows into the worlds of people whose tales often go untold.
