Check out this hotel of a house being built in Indian Hill.  This will surely be Ohio's most expensive when sold as it is much larger than its neighbor a "block" away which sold for a mere 14 million and was Ohio's most expensive.

Dear lord.

"You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

I see the owners have been to Italy... and liked it.

hubris

I am so not impressed, but I don't have to live there.

I wonder what the surrounding homes look like.

BTW, not only were the owners in Italy, they stopped by Greece and (I think) Turkey as well.

that house really is kind of ugly

"kind of"....no baby, it IS ugly!

I wouldn't call it ugly but the majority of the house looks bland/boring except for the center. I always wanted a circular driveway with a fountain in the middle.

Lebron might have something to say about that.  He's building a 35,440 square foot place in Bath Township...

Really, Why?

Growing up almost everyone on my street had a damn circular drive, with some sort of element in the center.  Its just a status symbol.  To me a circular drive, breaks up the flow of your lawn, but hey..thats just me.

Fugly. They could have bought the top floors of the ascent and made a really nice home.

I just like how they look. Plus, its easier to just keep driving around the circle than to back out of the driveway.

the houses around it are all very, very large too (it is Indian Hill after all) but most are in a more traditional style.

Hey!!! Thats my hhouse!!.... pause... NOT

I prefer Amberly Village or east Walnut Hills but that's just me :]

Yeah I like Hyde Park the best for the nicest of homes because you can have a huge house but still have the walkability and neighborhood feel of Hyde Park.  Indian Hill is gorgeous though.

I saw deer in front yards in Hyde Park the other day. Crazy.

Is that on old indian hill road? What street is that ?

It's on Cunningham

I almost hit a deer driving in Clifton

(-3) out of 10

That house is full of fail.

Dear lord.

QFT.

I can kinda see that...because of Mt. Storm.

I think it would be okay if the wing on the left side matched the wing on the right instead of going on to provide space for whats probably a 10 car garage. Remember it is a mansion, and I think it looks better than most of the Mcmansions beign built in suburbia USA.

As Antoine Merriweather and Blaine Edwards would say, "Hated it!"

Personally, I don't get it. Are both of those structures part of the mansion? Are we looking at the rear or the front?

It's the front (I'm guessing because of the potico) and its all one connected museum..err house.

yep, I was right over by there.

Wouldn't look out of place in affluent LA.

1) Big - Check

2) Stucco - Check

3) Spanish Tile - Check

4) Palm trees - Need to import.

^Only difference is in LA the next house would be within spitting distance, where as this house (and all of Indian Hill) is on a huge plot of land too.

^so much for symmetry.

True, but if you scroll right you'll see its symetric until they add all that house at the tail end of what looks like the west wing of the house.

no they just went to a Any Subdivision in Florida and copied the clubhouse design

Ugh. Disgusting pseudo-villa home in Ohio. I wouldn't waste the money on that, but people can do what they wish I suppose.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the photo.

Although in Florida, we'd have to throw a trailer park in!

Lebron's house will be 35,000 square feet. The lot is just a few acres.

  • 8 months later...

I love this house and in person it is even more incredible.  I'm not real crazy about the main entrance, but I like the randomness of the rest of it and the way it bends.  From the photo here it looks like it is stucco, but it is actually blond brick like Michigan Terrace has on it.  It also looks like a 2 story brick outdoor fireplace is in the back.  The garage is underground on the far left.  Not sure if there are other garages.  It's located at 9150 Cunningham Rd.

A lady I used to work with back in the late 90's at West Shell had a nephew that bought the house that used to sit there.  He owns some type of business that makes machine parts or something like that.  Anyway, he paid around $1.5m for it and tore the house down so he could build his own home.  He had a hard time selling his huge house on Ross Dr. in Mason at Heritage Club.  I don't think he ever ended up selling yet.  It's kinda suburbia brick, stone, look at my turret kind of house.  He even installed an 8 car garage that looked like a 4 car, but each stall was like an elevator (like at auto repair place) and it would lower the cars down to his basement.  Seems like it would have been easier and cheaper to just have 8 on one level.  Anyway, he sold the Cunningham property to one of the Grammas brothers (they own office buildings, shopping centers, etc. I think) for $1.65m.  I think one of their sons is part owner of Bang on 4th St.

I like the mix shape of the outside where it looks like it was added onto over time, but perfectly matched materials.

I found a video a while back on YouTube and saved it to my favorites.

Somebody did a drive by on it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uchp-7NSSQQ&NR=1

Somebody mentioned a house selling for $14,000,000 in this area.  Which one was that?  I know Stan Chesley paid $8,000,000 for one over on Camargo, basically right behind the green belt that is behind this house.

gaudy, just gaudy!  If I had to live in one of those, I might have actually gone thru with my suicide attempt!

I don't think I could ever live in something like that either.  I guess I'm just fascinated with "look at me, I got money" architecture.  To see that in person is pretty cool b/c it is so large and so wide.

I think it's funny that whoever put that video on YouTube has Kelly Clarkson "Never Again" on the radio.

Indian Hill is a very beautiful wooded neighborhood but I don't like the new houses. They just don't fit. They look like they belong in an upscale subdivision. The area is so pristine, use more natural looking building materials like brick.

David, I feel you on that.  You have an old soul.  lol

I understand, "new" build homes and "open floor plan" condos are such a turn off to me.  I'm an old school type of dude that likes each room to have its own walls - not furniture situated as to "designate" where the "living" room and "dining" room is.

LOL, MTS...  no he doesn't, I took that back!

I'd rather live in one of the mansions in Hyde Park or on Keys Crescent. At least it's walkable and close to stuff. For one thing, that house is just too big. Whoever lives there is not going to ever see 90 percent of the space. I'd rather buy multiple houses in different cities than have this. I'm not impressed.

I kinda put houses like this in the same category as Aaron Spelling's house or Biltmore.  I love looking at them, but that's about it.

NO house compares to the Biltmore.  Have you ever been there?  I thought I would die!  It is FAB U LOUS!!!

I completely agree. Growing up I thought it was cool to live in a big ass house.  Now, looking back, I realize it made no since for a family for four to live in a home built to accomodate a family of 10/12.  Now my parents live there alone.

I've never been there.  They have some videos on YouTube that are pretty cool to watch.  I think they're even produced by the estate.  I've seen it a few times on that "America's Castles" show on A&E.  Yep, that one is completely unreal.  The Aaron Spelling house is one of my favorites to check out.  I've never seen any interior photos.  I can't imagine living in a 40,000 sq ft plus house.  I wonder how big the Indian Hill one is on Cunningham Rd.  The one Chesley owns behind the greenbelt on Camargo was in MLS as being 25,000 sq ft, but auditor says it is 14,516.  Maybe MLS was including the lower level.  I think I read one time that Biltmore is 175,000 sq ft.  That's like the size of a Meijer store.

yes it's overkill and probably going to be way cheeseball, but i'm kind of a sucker for mediterranean styles and terracotta roofs. i'll wait and see.

if you think of it, can you go by later in the spring and take a pic?
