July 21, 20222 yr REPORTS: Bengals close to naming rights sponsor for Paul Brown Stadium The Cincinnati Bengals are aiming to secure a naming rights sponsor for Paul Brown Stadium before the 2022-2023 season, according to media reports. WLWT-TV reports, citing a source, the Bengals are close to a deal to rename the downtown stadium, which Hamilton County owns. Both the city and county would need to sign off on any deal before it could go into effect. The Cincinnati Enquirer first reported the potential deal. The stadium has been named Paul Brown Stadium since it was completed in 2000. July 21, 20222 yr Hopefully they just sell the naming rights to the field. Paul Brown is too much of an Icon in the NFL Formerly "Mr Sparkle"
July 21, 20222 yr The article mentions that upgrades will cost $500M over the next decade, but it seems like the naming rights dollars go to the Bengals even though its the county's stadium? This can't be right... right? If it's the Bengals' money, none of the naming rights will go towards the $500M
July 21, 20222 yr Per the lease agreement, 100% of the first $16.7 million of a naming rights deal goes directly to the team, as well as 70% of all monies above that 16.7 (county gets remaining 30%).
July 21, 20222 yr Per the Enquirer the Bengals get the first $60.5 million and anything above that is split 70% Bengals 30% county. The Bengals are also going to be on the hook for some portion of those $500 million upgrades, so I think that's why they're doing this now after not having a corporate name for 20 years.
July 21, 20222 yr The number of case studies we did in college about this exact situation. They should rake in the big bucks. Rumor mill that I've heard is either GE or 5/3.
July 21, 20222 yr Please God let it be GE and not Fifth Third Field/Stadium. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
July 21, 20222 yr When GE spins off GE Aerospace as a separate company, which company gets the building at The Banks? It would make a lot of sense for the recently rebranded GE Aerospace to buy the naming rights and try to cover The Banks with their branding the way that Fifth Third does for Fountain Square.

GE Aerospace will occupy the building at The Banks. There will be no "GE" anymore. GE Aerospace will own the GE brandmark and lease it to the other two companies.

It is in Boston now, but that could change once everything is spun off. It makes sense that it would likely move since the current GEAE is based here and would not really make sense to keep the Boston HQ going without any operations there or other subsidiaries to oversee. It may not move right away, but could see it happening within a couple years after the spin off. I am sure that even after the spin off there will still be a number of consolidated services between all 3 companies to unwind.

I don’t think they would need more office space. The current building is enough even if you include some top level execs moving in from Boston. The other divisions being spun off would not be based in Cincinnati so they don’t need a ton of room. And if need be they have the huge evendale campus where they could easily put up a cheap office building and not have to deal with leasing another building at The Banks.

You have to figure that they have the space they need with the evendale operation being based here since forever. Can’t see a tower for them as it does not necessarily fit the model of their industry either. They are an industrial company now, not a financial.
July 21, 20222 yr GE Aviation has office space in West Chester Township as well, on Aviation Way off Union Centre Boulevard.

The 5/3rd rebranding on Fountain Square is WAY to heavy handed. 5/3 logo is everywhere. Its distracting and takes away from the civic space experience. I find it off putting and have actually been avoiding FS because it a bit.

I agree theres too much signage but in my opinion it’s not bad or cheap looking signage. Also let’s not forget they spent 10s of millions on the latest upgrades including the new stage and it looks great!

Also let’s not forget they spent 10s of millions on the latest upgrades including the new stage and it looks great! I take a lot of visitors around our city. We go from Over The Rhine down to the riverfront. Since the remodel, and the lack of a cut through on Walnut, visiting the square has kinda fell off my tour. I still talk about the fountain and its story from across the street.
July 22, 20222 yr This is getting off thread, but Fountain Square is one my favorite public spaces in the City (probably second only to Washington Park) and I think the latest round of updates only enhanced the space. I don't really miss the cut through to Walnut since it really isn't any longer to take the cut through to 6th and then walk over to Walnut). I highly recommend checking out one of the live music events (choose whatever style strikes your fancy), or get lunch to-go and eat under the shade of the trees. If the wind is just right, you might even get a nice cooling mist off the fountain! And I promise that in all my countless hours being bombarded with Fifth Third marketing, I still have never purchased any products or services from Fifth Third!

August 2, 20222 yr The cascading decks are cool looking, the added sports book and things are probably going to be league standard soon, but the parts I really like are the Findlay market inspired food stalls and the "german heritage" inspired food/beer hall under the new scoreboard. If the other alternatives are either A. building a new stadium from scratch with tons of public money (like Buffalo or Nashville) or B. the stadium getting moved way out of downtown (like the Bears are currently doing) then this plan is a really good option. It would be cool if they could do a patterned scheme like FCC did at TQL. All things considered I like a lot of the ideas being shown here. The most controversial move I can see is the removal of some seating in the north end zone to make way for the new scoreboard/club area. I wonder what the total capacity they're planning for is.
August 2, 20222 yr I really don't understand the Night Club idea. Does this open just for the game and immediately afterwards or is this trying to carve out clubbing space on Friday and Saturday nights when there is no football?
August 2, 20222 yr The new Allegiant Stadium in Vegas did a night club area in one of the end zones for people who want bottle service and party atmosphere. My guess is that this idea was taken from there... but Cincinnati doesn't exactly have the club culture of Vegas so I'm not sure how successful it would be here. Maybe it will be open for events or renting out for non-game days?
August 2, 20222 yr I am taking the "nightclub" proposal with a grain of salt... this list seems like a throw everything out there and see what sticks. I believe the full / complete report is due later this year.
August 3, 20222 yr Any stadium proposal that includes public funding better include finishing the remaining undeveloped blocks at The Banks as well.
August 3, 20222 yr I really do think the blackburns are trying to figure out how to make money outside of just nfl tv deals. They really do have to if they want to stay relavent in the nfl. They were just ranked least valued franchise even with a super bowl appearance. I am excited about the change in guard I do think we will see more investment in the surrounding areas. August 3, 20222 yr The best thing about this proposal is the fix for the nightmare congestion issue on the east side of the stadium.

This probably should have happened with County money to rebuild that staircase/plaza years ago but I'm glad they have a specific solution to divert people. It makes sense but still it's crazy that nearly half of all attendees come in through that one gate. Edited August 3, 20222 yr by ucgrady
August 3, 20222 yr What Cincinnati Bengals’ Paul Brown Stadium redesign could look like A redesign of Paul Brown Stadium could dramatically liven up the Cincinnati Bengals’ home with a food hall, districts highlighting some of the city’s most recognizable features, a sports betting facility, a larger scoreboard and more mini-suites and loge box seats. Other highlights might include a bigger variety of ticketing options including increased standing spaces, a nightclub and more escalators instead of walking ramps. Those are among the plans included in a report from San Francisco-based architectural firm Gensler, which is handling design for the project along with locally based Elevar Design Group. Hamilton County, which owns the stadium, released the report this week. The changes are intended to, among other things, “create revenue opportunities to support (a) competitive NFL team,” Gensler said in the report. It highlighted heightened sponsorship opportunities. Those would include naming rights for the stadium, entry gates and various new areas and sections within the stadium as well as in-stadium sponsorship opportunities. The increase in revenue opportunities is one of the four goals for the master plan. The others are: Accessible top-quality experience for fans Preserve Paul Brown (Stadium), football and Bengals history Show off Cincinnati to the world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I get your point but the new value rankings are a bit off / “undercooked” in regards to the bengals. - Along with the bengals there are about 6 or so other teams all clustered around the 3 billion dollar mark, Detroit I believe was ahead of the bengals by only about 20 mil? Alot of teams are in the same bengals “range” so it’s not that much of a insult. More importantly the bengals may have went to a SuperBowl as a end result but it was certainly a surprise. They didn’t get really hot until the end which certainly had an effect on revenue. Fast forward to this upcoming season where they are going to be a white hot ticket front and center from start to finish and have sold every single season ticket. Revenue is going to pour in this season which should boost the franchise value in next year’s rankings. Also a huge factor in these rankings formulas are the stadiums and sponsorship-advertising dollars franchises generate, the added sponsorship value isn’t going to kick in until this season for the bengals and Paul Brown Stadium can’t generate nearly as much as the more modern venues in the NFL. This will change once renovated and will boost franchise value a TON. For example if the bengals opened a glitzy cash grabbing new stadium with all the new bells and whistles and tons of points of sales like the new stadiums around the country the franchise value would soar by hundreds of millions. August 9, 20222 yr Bengals ink naming rights deal for Paul Brown Stadium with Paycor The Cincinnati Bengals' stadium will now be called Paycor Stadium. "As longtime fans, this is a big point of employee pride and we are honored to support our local team and build on the legacy of Paul Brown."
