Collector card giant Upper Deck takes a swing at Topps

In a New York City boardroom, a cherished slice of Americana hangs on by the thinnest of threads. Topps, the time-worn trading card and bubble-gum company, has received a $416 million takeover offer from Upper Deck, its hipper, flashier rival for almost two decades.

The market's still pretty good.  You might check on e-Bay.  I see a lot of baseball cards sold in "lots'.  Basically, it all depends on what you've got.  You might also look into getting Beckett's sports card guide.  Depending on what you've got, they could auction off at a decent price.

^^ I would think twice before cashing them in. I did the same thing in college and I regret it to this day. I had 4 shoeboxes full of baseball, basketball, and football cards from the 70's. Today they would be worth a small fortune.
