Posted May 29, 200718 yr To finish off the Memorial Day weekend we headed to the Getty Villa which is right off the PCH in Malibu. If you're ever in LA, this is worth checking out! The museum is free, but it costs $8 a car to park. You have to plan ahead and order the free tickets on-line. They do this so the museum doesn't get too crowded. All the works in the museum are from the Getty Collection and feature the Etruscan, Greek, and Roman eras. Without further ado... Back to work tommorow :(
May 29, 200718 yr looks like CA is treating you well...it's good to see you haven't forgot about us yet!

May 29, 200718 yr I had a water fight with my friends at the Getty Villa! haha needless to say the staff wasn't very pleased... I love the GV but if given the choice, I would choose the Cetty Center off the 405.
May 29, 200718 yr I had a water fight with my friends at the Getty Villa! haha needless to say the staff wasn't very pleased... I love the GV but if given the choice, I would choose the Cetty Center off the 405. Oh yeah? I've been to the Getty Center also and felt it was fantastic. However, I think I liked the Villa a little more because it's less massive. I felt it was a more intimate museum going experience. I'm curious to hear why you prefer the Getty Center.
May 29, 200718 yr I checked out the Getty Villa last year. Your photos really captured the beauty. I'm still kicking myself for not allowing more space on my flash card for this place.
May 29, 200718 yr ^^ I can see what you mean about the Villa being more intimate. It's a very peaceful and beautiful place to view the old, old art. Artistically, I prefer the paintings, drawings, and photographs at the Getty Center to the sculptures and artifacts at the Villa. I like the design of the Getty Center better as well. The gardens there are awesome as is the view. I like how the Getty Center feels like a little city secluded from the rest of LA because of the tram ride up and the commanding views of the whole basin. Plus, the restaurant's food is much better than the Villa's food. I guess I just like the overall atmosphere and excitement of the Getty Center better than the seclusion of the Getty Villa.
May 29, 200718 yr ^Yeah, the view on a clear day from the Getty Center is pretty fantastic. There is also a bigger variety of art. I've never tried the food at the Getty Center... I had a chicken sandwich with garlic fries at the Villa which was pretty good though!
May 30, 200718 yr Get the coconut lime ice cream at the Getty Center. It might be $9 for some ice cream, but I guess the free admission cancels that out!
May 30, 200718 yr ^Yeah, apparently the life spans of the plantlife increase as you walk down from the near end of the pool to the far end. It is supposed to symbolize immortality.
