December 29, 200816 yr No...no...no. If you weren't a House Music DJ in the 80s, you know what REAL house music is. this "techno house" is horrible. :| No, you're just too jaded and old to appreciate how the genre has evolved. :-) Bah! Electronica is all the same 10: CLS 20: Play "Boop Boop Be-doop be-doop boop boop" 30: Goto 20 I kid. I'm no one to judge. In my mind, music peaked in the mid to late 80's
December 29, 200816 yr Too Much Joy is the greatest band that has ever existed. They were around in the 80s and 90s. It is impossible (for me) not to be excited and happy after hearing a few tracks of them. Just got my first MP3 player for Christmas. I've never downloaded a song before and until recently was still making mix tapes. I'm about to go foraging the internet for every song I've ever liked.
December 29, 200816 yr DJ Orion, that youtube post I made was originally by Smith & Pledger. Also I have to agree that Fonzerelli is great. Not my favorite, but typically the stuff I hear from him, I like a lot. Here's what on my mind right now. . . Elektrohouse! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM4HbjQVaI4

December 31, 200816 yr Someone mentioned upthread about a guilty pleasure being Coldplay. I have to admit, I bought my first coldplay album (yes...I called it an album. Be happy I didn't say LP)...albeit from Itunes. I historically hated Coldplay, but something about Viva la Vida connected with me. I still think it's mostly lullaby music, but nevertheless, oddly compelling lullaby music. which reminds me of this website I found a couple years ago shortly after number 1 was born. http://www.rockabyebabymusic.com/web/page.asp?pgs=product&catid=41&id=409 or, alternatively http://www.rockabyebabymusic.com/web/page.asp?pgs=product&catid=41&id=408
December 31, 200816 yr How do you dance to that? Music like this is usually classified as "electronic" (aka not necessarily one for the dancefloor, but with all the synth, etc. that most dance music has). clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

That was a hot mess. I hope you kids have better rhythm than Elaine.

December 31, 200816 yr Not really feeling the Starkillers so much on that one. . . Ronski!!! FTW Oh, and. . . !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nprbqWLwJNc
January 4, 200916 yr Haha Mayday, I love the Starkillers. Nick Terranova is great. And, Beadoleoma, have you ever heard Jonas Steur's remix of All the Way? It's amazing. Plus Aruna's voice is so beautiful in that song anyway. Perfect for cruising down the boulevard at night. Don't even get me started on Ronski Speed, as he is one of my all time favorite DJ's lol. Ronski Speed: All The Way - Jonas Steur mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TrcwIc1JU4
January 4, 200916 yr yeah dude this is an awesome remix. I first heard this on Ronski's "Pure Devotion" album. This one is probably the best. Have you heard the Paul Miller remix? It's a joke. Not to get you started or anything, but have you heard the Ronski Speed Live at Sputnik mix from '03?
January 4, 200916 yr Yeah I bought the Pure Devotion album about a month ago and it is really good. I bought that remix back in August, before I heard the original. And no, I haven't heard that live album. I have a lot of his stuff from maybe 05 and 06. The song that got me going was EOS, when I heard it on A Trip in Trance 3 lol. I have a lot of music he did with Sonorous, and also stuff he did with Stoneface & Terminal. One of my favorite songs by him though is Asarja that he did with Mirco de Govia. I like Mirco's remix better. I can go on and on haha sorry. Oh!!! And also his remix of "Alone Tonight" by Above & Beyond is worth checking out. Another one of my favs by him. Ok, sorry. I'm done lol.
January 4, 200916 yr The following is my TOP FIFTY ARTIST OF 2008 as tabulated by Last.fm (which I use to track practically everything I listen to). If I coded this correctly - and you're interested - you should be able to listen to any of the artist listed by pressing the "play" sign. I'm sort of surprised by the amount of Ambient music I've listened to; but given my mental/emotional state over the past year, it all makes sense. January 5, 200916 yr A great song and a great video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRpgwgVwCVA&feature=channel You'll just have to go the the actual page lol. I am currently, but happily suffering from a Dave Matthews Band addiction haha.
January 5, 200916 yr That link won't work DJ :( Musky - Daft Punk and The Cure seem to be making a big comeback lately. I wonder why. Maybe song samples by people like Kanye might have had something to do with it. It's funny how sampling has that effect. I noticed tv shows and movies do the same thing. That whole Rick Roll phenomenon actually started from an episode of Family Guy when Brian sang "Never Gonna Give You Up".
January 5, 200916 yr Yeah I know, if you click on the video after it says embedding disabled, I think it'll take you to the you tube page.
January 5, 200916 yr @David - I hear you. It always happens that way though. My 16 yo daughter is all about anything from the eighties. Good thing she's not making music. January 8, 200916 yr Yeah, normally I just jump around from Fusion Radio Chicago, to Music One, to Energy 98, but once I stumbled on that, I haven't changed anything! clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 8, 200916 yr David mentioned it a while back, but www.pandora.com is a great site for playing music specifically to your taste. They break music down algorithmically to scientifically determine the components of music that appeal to you...which is really how music should be enjoyed.... I'm diggin' some Liquid Soul right now. Salt Peanuts!
January 9, 200916 yr INSANE and jaw-dropping drummer, Carter Beauford, from Dave Matthews Band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bw7yzwhlGY&feature=related The song is "#41"
January 9, 200916 yr One of DJ Shadows best live performances ... obviously it's in the UK ... with sweet visuals too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_exTW1gYwVs I have that dvd. It's so good. "Live: in Tune and On Time" had an album and the dvd with this performance. It's awesome!! The actual cd will always remind me of driving back home to Jersey from Recording Workshop in Chillicothe in '06. It's perfect driving music.
January 9, 200916 yr Leona Lewis; "Better in time" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrNoDUblAtE Really good song!

January 12, 200916 yr I've been listening to Wale's The Mixtape About Nothing a lot lately. A lot of Crystal Castles and The Tallest Man on Earth, too. Oh, and I seem to be on a Massive Attack kick, too.
January 12, 200916 yr yeah, i typically don't even watch the videos, it's all about the tune. here is another great: it is a great song to run to, as it really, really, really takes off around 2:20 and most of you will probably lose your mind.
January 12, 200916 yr Massive Attack is so great. I have their Mezzanine album and I love it. I like 'Mezzanine' but I *love* 'Blue Lines' and 'Protection'. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
January 12, 200916 yr My favorite songs by them are: Angel, Teardrop (before I knew it was the theme for House :-P), Man Next Door and Mezzanine. I guess I'll have to listen to some of their other albums. Forgot one: Exchange. Both the instrumental and weird and creepy vocal versions lol. Also, Black Milk.. Hell, I love the whole cd haha.
January 12, 200916 yr Anyone ever listen to a woman from Portland, goes by the name Grouper? Good stuff.
January 13, 200916 yr I broke out the Judas Priest catalogue for the first time in 10 years... and my god, I'm lovin' it (at least their early stuff before they devolved into caveman rock) The intensity of this track must've bewildered people back in 1978 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf-RSd8T9L0
January 13, 200916 yr If there are any jazz lovers out there, and there must be at least one or two (and I’m not talking about “lite” jazz :-P), WKCR-FM 89.9, the radio station of Columbia University, is presenting a non-stop tribute to jazz drummer/legend Roy Haynes running all the way until Jan. 23. I’m sure this would include his entire discography. So far I’ve heard everyone from Ella Fitzgerald to Sarah Vaughan and Duke Ellington to Nat King Cole and many other great jazz musicians with whom he performed over the past 50+ years. Every so often this station does this. A few years ago on Billie Holliday’s 90th birthday they presented a solid two-week tribute to her music. No need to live in NYC however, it’s available online: http://www.columbia.edu/cu/wkcr/ http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
January 14, 200916 yr URBAN OHIO ALERT! Kingfish and eastvillagedon agree on something. GO ON ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS.
