Frightened Rabbit has potential, and I like that they do not hide their Scottishness. Pretty good lyrics, although the refrain in this song is little overdone.

Frightened Rabbit is a favorite of mine. Their second album, Midnight Organ Fight, is easily one of the best records I've bought in the last 3 years. Their third is pretty great too.

We went to the Beachland Ballroom last night to see Kishi Bashi. Amazing show. How that guy isn’t a huge star is mystifying.

There's a local ska band in town, and one of their main influences is The Specials.  They usually perform a few covers in their sets.

Never knew I could have so much fun at a concert before I met those guys.

The Specials - monkey man

^I approve

Pre-gaming before work? Hah!

I know what you mean though. Music sounds best in the morning. Preferably after I've revved up on Monster or coffee.

Railroad Earth.

...and I'm flying up to Boston in October to see them on a double bill with Donna the Buffalo.

this month marks the 40th anniversary of Janis Joplin's death. I remember a classmate in high school--Gwen, who's African-American--remarking that Joplin was the only white singer she liked; something about how "whites" mostly "sing through their noses." LOL

cheer up to rye rye - sunshine

that is all!

Nice! Very few singers give me chills quite like she does

In the same vein, I'd be remiss to not bring up that this weekend marked what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. VH1 did a documentary on the last couple years of his life, focusing on his re-emergence into making music after walking away from it for 5 years, basically to be a stay at home dad.

Going through my iTunes list. These are some the ones I've been listening to the most, lately.

D'yer Mak'er (Pronounced Jamaica you dumb@sses; it's old English   :-D )

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Eminem - Cinderella Man

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Pink Floyd - Hey You

Ice Cube gets political in his cd that just came out.

Hood Robbin'

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

John Mayer - Assasin

Jay-Z D.O.A  (Death OF Auto-Tune)

Jerry Reed. "Eastbound and Down" and "She got the goldmine (I got the shaft)" not really my favorite right now, just what's playing on my ipod.

I really like The Doors.

I'm listening to Five Against One. I don't see it on Youtube but it's on my iTunes.

I could never get into the Doors too much. They were a little too hedonistic. Then again I had a friend in high school who thought he was channeling Jim Morrison. He also thought he was the reincarnation of Edgar Allan Poe.

I didn't know there was any other kind of music.

I loved this group from the 60’s from Chicago (I think they were named after the Buckingham Fountain there, as an Americanized response to the British invasion at the time). They now tour as one of those dreaded “nostalgia acts” baby boomers seem to flock to, but they were really big during my jr. high days…(I doubt than anyone under 50 has ever heard of them at this point!)

Kind Of A Drag- The Buckinghams- Original 45 MONO Mix (HD)

The Buckinghams - Don't You Care

The Buckinghams Susan

I like The Zombies. You ever listen to The Zombies? You're right about younger people. I don't know much about anything before '70s rock and roll. I was born corrupted.

I loved the Zombies!...I also liked the Hollies, the Dave Clark Five, Spanky & Our Gang and the Association...(OMG, I am so old)

THE DAVE CLARK FIVE - BECAUSE (1964) (EXCELLENT SOUND)

Spanky and Our Gang I'd Like to Get to Know You

Music like this restores my faith in its future.  Reanimation theme included without too much synth...you get it.

I've been junking out mostly on these two lately.  One is old but great, always somewhere in my playlist .  The other is a new favorite.

Meat Puppets:

Jenny Lewis, such a great voice:

Neil Diamond's cool! I like a lot of his stuff.

"I am, I said

To no one there

And no one heard at all

Not even the chair

I am, I cried

I am, said I

and I am lost and

I can't even say why

Leaving me lonely still.

I like the Descartes and Plato reference.

Great song but depressing as hell lol

^I didn't think anyone under 56 (or so...) listened to Neil Diamond!

anyway...

Everybody's Boppin' - Lambert, Hendricks & Ross

Did you roll your eyes at me? :whip:

I'm an odd bird, but yeah, I listen to Neil Diamond. I appreciate all kinds of music. A few of my friends - the same age as me - listen to some of his songs too. Good music is around forever.

lol--no, at myself!

You wouldn't believe what's on my itunes. Since my dad is on the road all the time for work, he called and asked me to get a bunch of old music for him on mp3 that he's lost over the years (he's stuck in the early '70s) - since I have a mac and don't get viruses and he's not computer savvy.

I said, "What do you want? He goes, "A bunch of The Doors, Grand Funk Railroad, ...umm...there's this really rare album by Bon Jovi called "One Wild Night it has such and such songs on it" ... "Billy Idol's first Cd, "Rebel Yell", Oh...and there's this one rare live album, you'd probably have a really hard time finding it, but it's called "The Song Remains The Same - it's Led Zeppelin". Also, Pink Floyd's "Meddle".... I said hold on..........yeah....I have all of that already on my itunes. Swing by tomorrow. lol. I ended up burning the entire discographies for most of those artists though, since I had it anyway.

Found an old cassette, "The Association Greatest Hits".  At least my car still has a tape player!

Rad song, rad video for those of you who dig Indie rock:

I like the vid^

Check out Suckers!

Anyone like Neil Diamond?

Love me some Neil Dizzizzle! The original leisure suit gangsta!

LOL

That song reminds me of my quarter life crisis. Lyrics are genius but he never talked about how he's going to get himself out of that dark place. I think he inspired me to work on my auto-biography though. It's going to be titled: "An air mattress and a Dream."

My loftmates are in a band, and they just released a new EP. Not a huge fan of the video, but it is their newest one.

lately i've been listening to The band, Imortal technique, the weakerthans, elliot smith and the new kayne west.

so that is my favorite right now

KASKADE, Deadmau5, Adam K & Soha, Flanders...  In that order.

Fitz and the Tantrum-Winds of Change

One of my wife's best friends has serious thing for Neil Diamond. She's 32 and has a collection of concert DVDs too.

Vulpster, I'll have to check that out, no youtube at work. My wife is a fan and I have liked what i have heard so far.

Whoolawd, that new El Debarge & Faith Evans song "Lay With You" is on heavy rotation with me!

Better known as the "Black Christmas anthem"!

I love that song.  Right up until Xmas.  My mother played that song to death over the thanksgiving holiday.
