Complete tables:

So now there's only 4 cities in Ohio with over 100k??

^ I don't get it either. That's all they had listed.

Burglaries, robberies rose last year

But Cleveland seeing drop in '07

This study says that Cleveland only had 75 murders last year when the actual number was 119.....also, where did the study come up with the population numbers for each city?

1 The 2006 population figures are FBI estimates based on provisional data from the U.S. Census Bureau. (See Data Declaration.)

2 The FBI does not publish arson data unless it receives 12 months data from either the agency or the state for 2005 and/or 2006.

3 It was determined that the agency did not follow Program guidelines for reporting this offense. Consequently, this figure is not included in this table and has been excluded from all report tabulations.

4 Because of changes in the agency's reporting practices, figures are not comparable to previous years' data.

These are Preliminary numbers and are subject to change when the final numbers are released.

EDIT:  Florida Guy beat me to the punch with this, but I did find a more complete answer about the population figures.

The crime data comes from city police departments, so I don't understand why the numbers are that different, either.  As for the population numbers, the data declaration says:  The FBI calculated 2006 state growth rates using revised 2005 state/national population estimates and 2006 provisional state/national population estimates provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. The FBI then estimated population figures for city and county jurisdictions by applying the 2006 state growth rate to the revised 2005 U.S. Census Bureau data.

Granted, the report IS preliminary, but I'm wondering about the homicide discrepancy, too. There's contact info for questions:  If you have questions about this table, contact the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division via e-mail at [email protected] or by telephone at (304) 625-4995.
