Columbus developer Daimler Group building 368-unit apartment complex on North Hamilton Road

"A 368-unit apartment complex is coming to North Hamilton Road as the Columbus region seeks to add more housing.

The Langham at Chestnut Hill apartment complex is slated for a nearly 20-acre undeveloped site at 5295 N. Hamilton Road, north of Chilmark Drive, east of Nafzger Drive, south of a self-storage facility and west of small commercial businesses that front North Hamilton Road. The site is in Columbus but within the New Albany-Plain Local School District.

In March, Columbus City Council approved rezoning the property to allow for apartments, council minutes show.

The complex, which is being built by Columbus builder Daimler Group, will consist of 23 two- and three-story buildings, planning documents show.

  • Since it encompasses quite a bit, I'll put It here. (Feel free to move it). The window was a bit dirty so it's not as clear as I would have liked. 😑

Coca-Cola bottler opens $90 million distribution center at Rickenbacker Industrial Complex

The largest Coca-Cola bottler in the United States is opening a $90 million distribution center on Columbus' Far South Side.

Distributor Coca-Cola Consolidated's new 60-acre campus inside the Rickenbacker Industrial Complex includes a 400,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse facility and two 15,000-square-foot buildings to house equipment repair services and fleet maintenance, the company shared in a news release.

The Columbus warehouse, which celebrated the new facility with a grand opening May 14, will handle more than 16 million cases of beverages each year — an average of 75,000 cases a day, according to the news release.

The facility is expected to employ 360 workers.

Church shows interest in joining Fort Rapids redevelopment project. That waterslide would make for a hellava baptismal!

https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/06/04/worldfire-chruch-drever-partners-fort-rapids.html

A local church is interested in joining the developer that wants to rehab the Fort Rapids property to add workforce housing.

WorldFire Church would take over the roughly 60,000-square-foot former water park portion of the long-vacant property at 4560 Hilton Corporate Dr. on Columbus' east side, while real estate firm Drever Capital Management, which specializes in hotel-to-residential rehabs, would add hundreds of workforce housing units in the other structures.

Oh, but come on! That would easily be Ohio's most fun church. The Biblical slides, the Holy Water wave pool, a small Noah's Ark. I'd pay to see that!

Developer breaks ground on multifamily project near Rickenbacker

An Atlanta-based developer has broken ground on a 312-unit multifamily project near Rickenbacker International Airport and Anduril's planned mega manufacturing complex.

The Vista Residential Partners development, coined Greenway Vista, will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments on 25 acres at 5599 Shannon Road in Columbus, according to a press release.

The garden-style apartments, designed by Columbus-based Archall Architects, average about 840 square feet. Units will offer an "elevated living experience not currently offered in the (southeast Columbus industrial) submarket," the release said, including stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and in-unit washers and dryers.

That's so sad. We used to live, quite literally, right around the corner from this before we bought our first house in Groveport. That entire lot is heavily wooded, they're going to annihilate 25 acres of trees next to one of the worst floodplains in central Ohio for a moderate amount of tiny apartments. Housing is housing, but it really sucks that they're doing it there and not on one of the large plots of scrubland nearby.

Looks like there are already paths throughout, would've been nicer to see it become a park and connect up to the trail on other side of Shannon.

Shannon & Winchester Pike is near Rickenbacker?

I mean, it's not that far, but I was picturing Bixby, Rohr or Lockbourne. Not far SE/Groveport/Canal area.

Also, agreed about the forested location, why couldn't they put it at the corner of the two roads? That intersection could use some development anyway.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Would have been nice to connect it to the Blacklick Trail. This whole area is going to be built up over the next 20 years though. I'm just hoping the 1800s farmhouse across the street from this development will survive.

Yea I thought that was funny. It's a 15-20 minute drive from Rickenbacker.

Why is that scrubland anyway? Is it flood plain? Scrubland is unusual around here.

Match Point Pickleball Club to open large facility on the Far East Side

One of the largest indoor pickleball facilities in the world is set to open this fall on Columbus' Far East Side.

Match Point Pickleball Club will cater to local players of the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. and host national tournaments. The facility will occupy 125,000 square feet, more than half the 250,000-square-foot warehouse/manufacturing building at 350 McCormick Blvd.

With 38 indoor courts, Match Point will have more indoor courts than any other facility on the planet.

Match Point will include two combo paddle and pickleball courts, golf simulators, putting areas, locker rooms, a pro shop and a two-story restaurant.

The courts will also be padded for players' comfort and include cameras and screens for instant video replays.

Match Point will offer court rentals, tiered memberships, classes, pro instruction and organized leagues. Match Point plans to open Oct 1st.

Genuinely don't know. There are farms fields on three sides of it, and one of them is on the creek side of it so that should be even more vulnerable to flooding.
