Posted June 18, 200717 yr Here is round two: Portland State University - really an urban campus the street grid - and Portland Streetcar - runs right through it. Food trailers like this are located all over the place here. Yeah you guess it - some of these were taken from the streetcar. PSU's hand in mixed use. Hillside dev south of PSU Edge of the Pearl District - streetcar stops near Powells Used Books - this awesome bookstore takes up an entire city block :speech:! Now north to the Pearl District - It is underconstruction - mixed use projects all over. Incredible plants. A Whole Foods - yeah the Pearl District feels very yuppie - but at least they can walk or ride the street car to the grocery store and save the Land Rover for weekend excursions to the coast. Actually from what I hear, Portland is the 2nd "Greenest" city in the world - behind Lyon, France.
June 18, 200717 yr Wow, I really like the new, clean, modern architecture and how its fits around some of the older buildings.
June 19, 200717 yr Wow, really liked both sets. If I close my eyes . . I think I see (or I hope to see) The Banks. :)
June 19, 200717 yr fantastic...that art piece on the side of that building reminds me of the Cincinnatus piece in Cincy.
June 19, 200717 yr Such a clean city! I really appreciated the sleek urban styles and the mixed use developments. And the streetcar... What does this corner building hold?
June 20, 200717 yr Nice! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 20, 200717 yr All three photo threads have been great! I absolutely love that city. The fairly dense, modern, mixed-use architecture plentiful throughout Portland is something I really really like about the city. Thanks for all of the great photos! :)
January 13, 200916 yr Great pictures and all, but for some reason, I just don't like Portland. I really like the "Go By Streetcar" sign. I think a little glamourization can go a long way.
