*** so that's what's up in brooklyn development these days, who knows?

maybe it could be inspiring to somebody like a local 3C ohio developer or something***

another brilliant mrnyc thread... great to see a cleveland company having such a big impact on nyc

FC/Bruce is no longer an off-shoot of FCE. Its all FCE now.

yet parking lots still stand on public square

would be greater to see them having a big impact on CLEVELAND

AMEN!

I used to live on State St.  I sooo glad I don't live there now.

damn, if they were building that much in Cleveland (or any city in Ohio for that matter)...it would be completely revolutionizing the place.  In NYC, it's just another day..ho hum

Nice.

But how are they dealing with the increased traffic congestion?

Great thread!  Thanks for posting these.

Awesome shots! The last time I was in Brooklyn, I could spot many of the new developments from Interstate 278 and was amazed. Good to see this borough rise up from the stalemate it had been in for so long (IMO).

Reminds me of NKU's campus.

Fun & interesting thread.

i know we have an atlantic yards thread, but this news is fresh today so i'll put it here.

damn straight! thats one reason why i did this thread.

be aware what they "are" doing when they cry they can't do anything in clevo.

not that i would expect this scale necessarily, but absolutely nothing in downtown cleveland???? shame on fce.

oh well enough about fce, hopefully other developers and homesteaders can be inspired by urban form like some of this stuff.

Great shots mrnyc!  I love the nabes surrounding downtown Brooklyn, but I have to say, the downtown part itself is a total disaster and FC's office towers are not making it any better...just different.  It seems like Manhattan just sucks the commercial wind out of Brooklyn despite Brooklyn's huge population.

  • 2 weeks later...

^ totally agree with that. it'll just be more people living in a rather unfocused/almost suburban styled downtown (albeit an old one).

a cool flickr photo blog below, but first check this out about the forte condo above...  :-o   :-o   :-o   :-o

Forté Condo is #1 With a Bullet

Tuesday, July 3, 2007, by Joey

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A little while back, when explaining some high maintenance fees, the Forté Condo gang took some shots at fellow Brooklyn developments such as J Condo, 110 Livingston and others. Well, some of those competitors may be firing back, in their own way. A tipster writes: "I was strolling down the street over there when it looks like someone put a bullet thru the window on one of the lower floors. Brings new meaning to 'welcome to the hood'." Guess that's why they call it the BAM Cultural District.

Yes. Bravo!

i'm actually surprised there isn't more of this condo-buying-gentrification-hipster backlash type of activity. people are sooooooo sick of these ugly condos going up everywhere, closing down nyc institutions. you go to other cities in other countries and they actually preserve so much of their history and old charm, but not here.

By squiggy at July 3, 2007 10:54 AM4.

Yeah the vacant lot where forte once stood really meant something. Derelict buildings and stagnantion that's what a real city needs...

By Anonymous at July 3, 2007 11:19 AM5.

hey dope. (i mean number #4)

who said anything about preserving vacant lots? you moron.

you completely miss the point.

By lenny at July 3, 2007 11:31 AM6.

#3 other cities built all types of buildings in theri cities. Just like NYC does. Your bitchy NIMBY attitude sucks.

Now I hope they arrest the punks who shot at the building.

By Anonymous at July 3, 2007 11:43 AM7.

very status quo and compliant of you #6.

By anonymous at July 3, 2007 11:49 AM8.

right #7, becuase if it was you child who was in there and got shot, you'd be sooooo thrilled with your neighbors.

By common sense at July 3, 2007 12:04 PM9.

Brooklyn is still Brooklyn. If you don't want to get shot, don't move there.

By Anonymous at July 3, 2007 12:13 PM10.

All new buildings suck. Landmark everything. I love vacant lots. Buck Fush! Free Mumia!

By Emelia Diehardt at July 3, 2007 12:26 PM11.

I would like to move to Brooklyn to get shot. Preferably somewhere close to the subway so that the shooters can escape via mass transit.

By Anonymous at July 3, 2007 12:54 PM12.

I was shot once, not that bad. its the ny experience. most of the people who write on these coments should be shot too.
