Posted June 25, 200717 yr I walked from Broad and High to the Brewery District, to German Village, to the Arena District, up the Short North to OSU and back down to Broad and High and now I have blisters on my feet so savor every damn picture! --Downtown-- --Brewery District-- --German Village-- --The Arena District-- --Short North--
June 25, 200717 yr Nice pix! G-Village and the Brewery District still have some of the most varied and interesting architecture in the city. The photo of the railroad tracks in the alley is a real throwback to when there actually were breweries in the Brewery District. I experienced something similar when living in Omaha, Nebraska. A large portion of their old warehouse district was rehabbed into what is called "The Old Market": named after the many produce and meat-packing companies that once did business there. The place was criss-crossed with railroad tracks and one enterprising restauratuer moved an old railroad dining car onto one of the tracks in the heart of the district and opened up a place called "The Eggspress". Pretty decent food too as I recall. Again, nice photos David. Go soak your feet.
June 25, 200717 yr Thanks Noozer! Yeah Randy, there's a lot to shoot architectually in Columbus, not sure why Columbus forumers don't take more pics and the majority of the ones I've seen are just of downtown. German Village is probably the most unique neighborhood; when you walk along City Park, the landscaping of the front yards and sidewalks are immediately the first thing you notice. A lot of the houses are extremely small..probably the size of apartments, which would explain why there are so many young people there. You definitely get the yuppie vibe walking through there (joggers, dog walkers, starbucks, ugly mid 80s Volvos and BMWs). Its funny how the businesses are just randomly scattered throughout the neighborhood. Good call on putting in a Max and Ermas though :-P Short North is still my favorite though, just because there's sooo much going on.
June 25, 200717 yr Thanks Noozer! Yeah Randy, there's a lot to shoot architectually in Columbus, not sure why Columbus forumers don't take more pics and the majority of the ones I've seen are just of downtown. Because we: A). Work downtown and when we get off, we take photos on our way back home. And B). We actually don't have time for photos and get trashed at those places you photograph. So *yawn* "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 25, 200717 yr You get trashed at the Sunflower Market? Damn..I would sugget Alcoholics Anonymous.
June 25, 200717 yr Nice work, David. Columbus is enjoyable, and I love all the bricks in German Village and the Brewery District.
June 25, 200717 yr I wanna take pictures on and around East Broad up through Bexley, The Hilltop on the west side, and Victorian Village. Those will be my next adventures! New Albany too, at some people, to try and understand why its apparently so great.
July 1, 200717 yr Sweet! My favorite areas of Columbus! :) (especially the Short North and German Village)
August 19, 200717 yr Very nice, that's a lot of ground to cover. How many megapixels you got there? I still have just 2 and I wonder if my thread sparked this photo frenzy...Either way, nice to give Columbus some more attention.
August 19, 200717 yr These were all taken with a 2 megapixel cheap point-and-shoot camera made in 2001. I don't think megapixels matter much unless you plan on doing a lot of cropping and need a lot of detail for large pics. I just take these to put on flickr at 800x600. :)
December 28, 200816 yr <3 Don't hate because I bumped this old thread! And yeah, my composition sucked back then and I went a little crazy oversaturating the photos near the end but not enough people represent Columbus on this forum (except Columbusite, he does a great job). :-D
December 31, 200816 yr ^I was camera shy back then. I didn't want to take pictures with people in 'em. Now I'm at the point where I just don't give a damn. If they ask why I'm taking pictures, I work for an evil developer who plans on a hostile takeover of their neighborhood and doing a physical analysis.
December 31, 200816 yr I walked from Broad and High to the Brewery District, to German Village, to the Arena District, up the Short North to OSU and back down to Broad and High and now I have blisters on my feet so savor every damn picture! .. but .. in which city is this :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
January 2, 200916 yr Fine pics David...but man, I had to wonder if maybe a comet struck the city and killed everyone . There's no signs of any living people in the first 24 pics!!!
