June 30, 200717 yr Haha..Silly Christians. I like going to black churches. They actually get into it. People appear to want to be there. I used to go to church sometimes with my best friend and his family at this church in Price Hill. It was ABSOLUTELY PACKED. My friend and I got there late so we had to stand outside of the main entrance. Normally, an inner city church like this wouldn't get such high numbers but the mass is literally like 25 minutes long and lets just say its everyone's favorite church. I don't know why they don't just add a drive-thru where people can pick up their cracker and grapejuice. Anyway, there was someone next to us wearing a Bengals jersey (being Sunday) and we were forced to stand outside the doorway and cars were driving by, honking, and people screaming "WHODEY!!!!". I f-ing love Price Hill.
July 1, 200717 yr On the comment above about shorter service, I totally agree. I'm Catholic and attend from time to time, but I can't stand the LOOONG masses when I come home to visit my parents. They seriously last an hour and fifteen minutes. The songs are dull, and the homily is way to long. It's not the message, it's the presentation that bores me. If anyone avoids church because they feel it's boring, I can definitely understand that. My church back in college was way more interesting with louder more upbeat music, and mass was about 35-40 mins long. As far as the mom in the video, she definitely reacted in the wrong way, but I can see why she would be upset.
July 1, 200717 yr At least she doesn't try to guilt her child into subscribing to her beliefs, or make threats. Obviously her beliefs have made her a happy joyful person. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
July 1, 200717 yr There are about 15 specific aspects of this video I could (and probably will eventually) comment on, but my favorite is the naked hypocrisy of it all, summed up, perhaps most obviously, in the line, "...you'll get absolutely nothing––NOTHING--for Christmas because that's what Christmas is about: it's Jesus Christ". Someone's GOTTA put that on a t-shirt. Say...
July 1, 200717 yr Christmas is always used as leverage with parents. I saw it all the time with soccer moms while I was working at Old Navy. "Madison, stop misbehaving; Santa Claus is WATCHING you!"
July 1, 200717 yr I always got the sense that Santa and God were roommates, or at the very least, very close friends.
July 1, 200717 yr My personal belief is that it is good for anyone to question their faith and common held 'truths'. Look more deeply into what you're following and then decide on your own what you believe and have faith in. It seems that Catholics in particular feel most threatened by this type of personal quest. No one really knows the ultimate 'truth' that's why it's called having faith. I just wish people could be more open minded to those who may believe in different types of gods and/or no gods at all. Does anybody really know for sure??
July 1, 200717 yr ...I just wish people could be more open minded to those who may believe in different types of gods and/or no gods at all. Does anybody really know for sure?? Apparently this kid's mom does. But really, I'm of the mind that faith unexamined is empty faith. That's what's so amazing about this mother's reaction to the situation: her son hands her a perfect opportunity to examine God, and she completely blows it.
