Looming angrily over London, this is the massive cloud that brought weather havoc to the capital.

This extraordinary twister-like cloud formation over central London is the latest example of extreme weather conditions nationwide

Within an hour, its devastating work was done. Hailstones the size of marbleshad battered Battersea and flashfloods caused chaos in Clapham. Lightning lit up the blackened sky. Taken from the 17th floor of the London Television Centre on the South Bank, this stunning picture shows the enormity of the cloud that heralded Tuesday's storms - the latest in this summer of dramatic contrasts.

Wow. I wonder how much damage it did.

Could you imagine being on the Eye during that?

Crazy.

Awesome picture. Hard to believe I was there just a little more than a month ago. Seems like ages....

Meanwhile, the western half of the United States is suffering from drought and extreme heat, Texas and Oklahoma is suffering from massive flooding (which looks like will not let up for this week), the southeast and mid-atlantic is in severe or extreme drought...

Marbleshad? Gor blimey!

Amazing shot!

Speaking of the US drought conditions, how are conditions in everyone else's part of the Buckeye state?!  The past two days brought a few light showers that probably totaled less than 5 minutes worth of rain and maybe 0.05 inches of rain!  As a matter of fact, using the NWS website, our area is between 3 and 4 inches below normal for rainfall during the last 30 days! The crops are starting to show signs of the lack of precip!

^ Lucky. We have seven inches of deficit here, and most of the state (Kentucky) is under severe or extreme drought. Many areas now have voluntary water restrictions, and some now have reached Stage 1 mandatory.

At least we are not Australia...
