Troy is one of Ohio's best small cities, easily. Besides a pleasant square and an ornate (but overrated) courthouse, the city is packed with great commercial buildings and has a fantastic presence on the river.

The courthouse is set off from the center of downtown and separated with this modern mess.

You are greeted with these signs around downtown

But, the city also placed bike racks around town as well, so?

Wow, you are on a roll!  I feel like I'm getting a virtual tour of the whole state through your work.  Looks like Troy has some good building stock.

Super shots as usual...

I have always really hated this view, which is in a lot of the Troy promotional literature.  It begs the question of who painted that hideous mural... it is entirely out of keeping with its context... plus its just plug ugly.

^My thoughts exactly. Bucyrus has a similar situation in their square and have painted a much more appropriate mural.

At the expense of Piqua ;).

Sweet-looking town!

Nice shots.  Troy is indeed one of Ohio's great towns.  I've always liked the Miami County Courthouse, but it just seems a little too separated from the heart of downtown for me--but I shouldn't compain...they still have it, it seems to be in good shape, and they aren't trying to tear it down.  But at least the square itself serves as a nice focal point for the heart of downtown.

It seems like I've seen that type of mural on other movie theater building before (which is what is in that building, isn't it?), but I'm not sure why.  Maybe I'm just thinking of the Neon in Dayton.

Also. the building that has the construction going on may have been the victim of its roof collapsing after a snow storm and not a fire.  I'm not sure if that was the building or another one, but I think they were going to try to save the building after the roof collapsed.

Troy is a gorgeous small downtown area, I saw President Bush there during the 2004 election campaign for a rally and its downtown square really lends itself to a cool political rally.

Oh, I think I did hear that. Of course the article is hidden in Random Dayton, so I'll never find it!

Love the roundabout and fountain downtown.  That alone makes Troy an easy favorite.

Ah, Hobart - home of the Miami Valley Silverbacks! Probably one of the coolest arenas in the CIFL - at least from the outside images I've seen.
