I didn't see another general thread where this could go, and I didn't want this article to have its own "Zannoni's is moving" thread.

Sadly, I start this thread with bad news...

Zannoni's is moving west

by Ken Prendergast

Thursday July 12, 2007, 11:28 AM

A corporate fixture in Cleveland's Clark-Metro neighborhood since 1938 is pulling up stakes for greener pastures. Zannoni's Food Service Distributors and its 16 employees are moving at the end of this month to a new industrial park in North Ridgeville.

Interesting ethnic politics at work here.  Zannoni's, a neighborhood fixture dating back to when this was an Italian neighborhood, gets no help from the Hispanic councilman, elected by the neighborhood's now Hispanic majority.  As soon as the Spanish American Committee is interested in the building, he's there.

hummm.....

Whoops, Pizza Pan has been around since 1970. Says so on their box. Making mental note for future usage.....

^"It, in turn, is owned by Fred Peters of Pizza Pan and Gene Zannoni Jr., whose family founded Zannoni's in 1911."

OK?

Santiago is an idiot.

Yup, I said... I'll say it again... to his face.

Why do you say that?

no problem

I have a correction to the earlier article about Zannoni's... Petaza Inc. is not a company with joint ownership of Zannoni's and Pizza Pan. Rather, Petaza was created by the owners of Zannoni's and Pizza Pan for the limited purpose of acquiring property in North Ridgeville for their shared building. Zannoni's and Pizza Pan remain separate companies with separate owners.

OK?

I misread the post.

Asked if sale proceeds could be spent on development here, Greg Geis said: "Absolutely."

Wonder where they see value in developing? Might it be closer-in, be it inner ring suburbs or core city? Or farther out in the exurbs?

^Wrong thread?

No.

I know it is not Northeast Ohio, but I did not want to start an all new one.

If there is a thread more appropriate, please move.

Meanwhile Goodyear stays in Akron. I just heard it on the radio. I had no idea they wanted to leave.

^ Me neither.  In fact, I thought they had made statements a couple of months back about how they were committed to Akron.

I don't think it was that they wanted to leave, but that they were building a new headquarters and Akron/Ohio officials wanted to make sure the new HQ stayed in Akron.
