It's going to be cold and rainy on Thursday, but the heat of the play of the Crew will keep you warm. Go Crew!

COLUMBUS CREW - 2008 MLS EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!

Resolve all doubts: Columbus IS a Fútbol Town.

MASSIVE!

WOO HOO!  GO CREW GO!

WHAT A WIN!

I was at the game...absolutely AMAZING! The atmosphere was electric and the fans were exstatic. The game was exciting to watch and the win was a great cap to the night. As Kingfish said, ¡Columbus es un pueblo de fútbol! Go Crew! ¡Viva el Crew!

Woot Woo!!! Huge game. Must admit it hurt a little bit to see McBride get the goal, nonetheless is was great to see Blanco whine his way through the second half. On to California!

McBride's goal was scary, especially the way the Crew was playing in the first half. I would've liked to have been a fly on the wall to what Sigi said to the guys during half-time because they came out and broke Chicago's back straight away.

The Crew made the front page of the Dispatch and now Mayor Coleman stood in front of the Nordecke.  Seems that Columbus is really starting to love their Crew!

everyone loves a winner

Its about time Ohio has a winning team!

As we singing and walking out of the stadium, I remarked that I forgot what it's like to cheer for a winner. The Bengals in '06 and the Reds in '99, '94, and of course '90.

The Crew will face the New York Red Bulls in Sunday's MLS Championship game.  The Red Bulls beat Real Salt Lake 1-0 last night.

These are a few of the many quality videos made about the Crew this year.  Being a part of the evolution of the Nordecke has been amazing.  Columbus has had the most improved supporters group by far this year!  Hopefully we can keep this support up next year after we win the Cup! :-D

Crew's history is a lesson in perseverance

Saturday, November 22, 2008 - 3:18 AM

By Shawn Mitchell, The Columbus Dispatch

LOS ANGELES -- The 13th season of the Crew has been the most fortuitous in its history. One of 10 original Major League Soccer teams, it has often been a leader among its peers in its off-the-field endeavors but has fallen short on the pitch. On Sunday, it will play in its first league championship game.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The mayors of Columbus and New York are putting beer, chocolate and pizza on the line over Sunday's Major League Soccer Cup Final.

Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman is promising a package of Ohio State Buckeye candies - a chocolate-and-peanut butter concoction in the shape of a buckeye - and a case of beer from the Columbus Brewing Co. should the New York Red Bulls win.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is promising even more if the Columbus Crew win: a large pizza from Basille's Restaurant on Staten Island, a sandwich from Carnegie Deli in Manhattan and a case of Brooklyn Lager from Brooklyn Brewery.

Funny. You would never see that in Cleveland for our soccer teams

It's shocking to see sports coverage like this here for anything but OSU football.

congrats to da crew!

yuh huh. yes you did. the city even had parades when they won.

Good for Columbus!  I remember when the Crew first started up ;)

congrats to da crew!

You mean to tell me there was a parade and all the regional local rags had front page headlines when Cleveland won the USL Championships last August - in only their second season as a team, I might add.

Wow, I must have been drunker then I thought.

I was at the airport last night to welcome the team home. It was pretty awesome seeing all the people decked out in black and gold apparel chanting multiple cheers to the beat of a drum (my favorite is "we all cheer for the yellow soccer team" sung to the tune of the Beatle's "Yellow Submarine"). I wasn't sure if there would be that many people, since the rally was thrown together at the last minute. But there were probably over 100 people waiting by the ecelators in baggage claim for the team. GO CREW!

Crew's return to Columbus kicks off fanfare after MLS Cup victory

Tuesday,  November 25, 2008 3:13 AM

By Tim Doulin and Debbie Gebolys

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A sea of black and gold filled the baggage claim area of Port Columbus last night, as fans decked out in Columbus Crew colors awaited the arrival of their victors' plane.

When the winners of the Major League Soccer championship came down the escalators shortly after 11 p.m., the MLS Cup held aloft, the raucous crowd of more than 100 people erupted in cheers. One fan banged a drum; another blew a trumpet.

"This is absolutely insane," said the Crew's No. 2 Frankie Hejduk. "It's like we are one big happy family. The fans are awesome."

Hejduk said the Crew members had no idea whether anyone would be there to greet them.

"It just shows how much the city wanted the trophy," added No. 8 Duncan Oughton. "It's beautiful."
