Posted July 19, 200717 yr I didn't take these; my grandma did. But Im bored and thought you'd all enjoy them. Most of these are taken in Yokohama, about 20 miles from Tokyo where my grandparents condo is. They're not of building facades but interesting, nonetheless. Most Japanese food is terrible but I love me some Chicken Teriyaki and Miso soup. I hate indoor malls! But its Japan so I'll let it slide! This is my grandpa (as if you couldn't tell from the resemblance?!) Pretty much my biggest influence because hes so smart and successful, I mean damn, the man is consulted to improve management for companies like NTT and Coca Cola to make them more efficient. MT. FUJI!!! Imagine this being the view from your balcony. Merchants put diamonds and pearls on display outside of their storefronts. Crazy. But theft isn't a big problem either! This is Jolly (Rancher) Or as my grandpa calls him "Jerry".
July 19, 200717 yr Fantastic shots! I assume they are over there a lot, so I am envying them very much right now! One of my major studies in college has been Japan -- and its allure is ever so breathtaking :) Let me ask, have they confirmed the used panty vending machines do exist? I know Japan has thousands of vending machines selling everything from electronics to beer to clothes, but we heard from our professor (who resided over there for a bit) that there were ... used panty vending machines. I can smell profit if it was introduced in the states! :D
July 19, 200717 yr Yeah they moved there from Atlanta (talk about a lifestyle change) and live there for an undetermined amount of time. Im jealous as well. They have a lot of different kinds of vending machines but I really don't feel comfortable asking my grandpa if they have used panty vending machines, lol.
July 19, 200717 yr Your making me hungry! Typical Gaijin.. Miso soup and Teriyaki...?? Kinkakuji Shrine is in Kyoto (the Golden shrine) I too have family in Japan, Can't wait to visit in October!
July 19, 200717 yr Word. I didn't say all of them were were in Yokohama! More like Miso soup and rice and seaweed but I eat some pretty crazy american combinations as well. That's how I roll.
July 19, 200717 yr Nice! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
July 19, 200717 yr Wow, that brought back some memories. Thanks for posting. I lived in Misawa (about 400 clicks north of Tokyo on the main island) for two years: 1987 and 88. I visited Yokohama once. Got to Climb Fujisan, too.
July 19, 200717 yr Awwwwww :-) I knew you'd notice the pug! All pugs are stubborn zany goons (much like their owners ;) )
July 19, 200717 yr what the? most japanese food sucks???? i love japanese food. i am especially a ramen fanatic. we just got america's first setagaya ramen chain outpost recently and i have been loving it, they really upped the ramen game around here. i am going to go berzerk when i get there next summer. besides tokyo/kyoto i would like to try to fit in a mt fuji climb sidetrip, i have been reading about it, we'll see. i dk if i will make it to yokohama, but it looks nice.
