Hey Everyone,

This Sunday night I will be leaving Cincinnati to drive to Orlando. I have a few questions about the trip that I figure some of you might be able to answer.

1. About how long does it take to get to Atlanta from Cincy?

2. What time does Atlanta's morning rush hour begin?

3. What other cities along the way have horrible rush hours (maybe Memphis?)?

4. I'll have my digital camera with me, what pics would people like?

Thanks!

2. What time does Atlanta's morning rush hour begin? Approximately 6:30 AM

3. What other cities along the way have horrible rush hours (maybe Memphis?)?  Possibly Chattanooga

4. I'll have my digital camera with me, what pics would people like? Of the south?  Surely you jest!

Dude, why don't you just fly ... that's way too much driving and $$$/gas ...

Orlando is the 4th most dangerous city in the country for violent crime. Watch out!

Driving is actually cheaper when you are splitting it 3 ways. Plus we'll need a car while we are down there. And I don't much mind road trips.

Road trips are the best, have fun!

You must be young!  There is no way in hell I would drive that far.  Hell I hate driving to my parents house and its 7 minutes away!  I can't imagine driving from Cinci to Orlando.

BTW be careful of the Orlando area toll roads.  they are very confusing.  Consult trip AAA before leaving.

Yeah, I guess you could say I'm young.. 21. Lol. I've talked to some people I know in Orlando about the toll roads. I'm just waiting to find out some info about how concerned I should be about Atlanta.

Lord.  You whippersnappers!  be safe.

Atlanta - bad traffic, high crime & hillbillies driving their Fords at 75 MPH on I-75!

Was down that way (Atlanta) in late May.  I-75 is a great and scenic ride through KY and TN.  Chattanooga traffic wasn't so bad, but I timed my rest stops to make sure I hit the tail end of their rush hour. Plenty of Cracker Barrell's to grab some good road food along the way.  Watch for fog in the mountains through KY & TN.... depending on if you drive through in the wee hours of the morning or around sunrise.

Atlanta's rush hour is more like a rush day  Frankly, if you're interested more in sight-seeing than making good time on the highway... I'd get off the Interstate and hit some state roads that could carry you around ATL.

As far as Atlanta, piece of cake! I have hit Atlanta at 7 A.M. twice (going to Sarasota and Orlando).  Sure I-75 came to a stop once before I-285, not a big deal. Take I-285 on the west side of town south and then back to I-75.  I-285 moved and do I mean moved, probably 80 MPH. Shouldn't be a big problem as the west part of I-285 is by far the least traveled. Plus you get to drive under the runway around ATL! Have a fun trip, usually around 14 hours to Orlando!

Plus, no rush on Sunday!

hey, at least it's not South Carolina. Semi trucks drive 85 MPH and rednecks proudly display their confederate flags.

As if they don't do these things in Atlanta-berry

Ended up getting through Atlanta around 2am. The drive between Atlanta and Florida is the most boring drive ever! I got some very cool pictures along the way. Can't wait to post them all once I get back and have my camera cable!

I know this is a bit late, but it takes about 7.5 hours to get to Atlanta from Cincy.  Traffic sucks in Atlanta, and saying they drive 75mph is an understatement.  By the time you hit the GA border if your not going at least 75mph you will be run off the road...once you're in Atlanta, that speed gets even higher (be ready to slam on the brakes though...because people seem to like gunning it 50mph when there is about 200 yards of room in front of them and stopped traffic).

Thanks Rando! Even if it is a little late...lol. We have definitely noticed the speed thing. We are in Florida now and the speed limit on I-4 is 55mph. We were going 75mph (with traffic) and then a cop buzzes by going at least 85mph. We saw three cops on the way down here...2 in GA, all in the same situation as with the cop on I-4.

BTW- Sprawl in Orlando blows.

K. Got some pics. Until I learn how to post them on here, you can view them on facebook here:

why are you humping a tree, in one of those pictures?

thats not me. that's my roommate. One of the guys who went with me. We were very excited to be in Florida! lol
