With all that’s happening in Franklinton and the Westland mall site inevitably being developed, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the hilltop in the next few decades. Franklinton has the benefit of being right next to downtown, and the westland development will most likely use the casino and easy highway access as its main attractions. Assuming the LinkUS initiative does its job and greatly improves transportation along broad street, I could see some big changes happening in this area

May 24, 20241 yr New mental health hospital unveiled in the Hilltop "The Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital opened Wednesday, May 22 at 2200 W Broad St. The ribbon-cutting of the Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital on Columbus' West Side comes amid both a growing need for mental health care and a harrowing mental health workforce shortage at state and national levels. The new hospital on West Broad Street will replace the Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare Kosar building next door as the region's state mental health hospital. That building will be torn down and replaced with green space. Its successor will contain 208 beds, 30 more than the Twin Valley building, and stands at 270,000 square feet, nearly 100,000 more square feet than its predecessor. Staff and patients will begin moving into the facility in June. It's expected to serve 990 patients per year from central Ohio counties." https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/healthcare/2024/05/23/hilltop-mental-health-hospital-care-demand-columbus-ohio-healthcare/73804689007/

January 15Jan 15 Amenities Planned for Newly-Preserved Areas, Including 50-Acre Woods on West Side Plans are advancing for five Franklin County projects awarded Clean Ohio Conservation Program funds late last year. On the Hilltop, a triangle-shaped piece of land that has remained untouched by development for decades will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Trails are planned for the 50-acre, heavily wooded piece of land off of Whitethorne Road, but the exact nature of the improvements – including how exactly the public will be able to access the site – will be determined later this year. “We will be actively starting the project in late spring 2025,” said Stephanie Garling, Communications and Marketing Manager for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. “This would include public engagement with the Hilltop community and performing a site inventory and analysis of what scale of public access and development of the site is appropriate…the number one priority is preserving the largest remaining natural woods in Hilltop.” More below: https://columbusunderground.com/amenities-planned-for-newly-preserved-areas-including-50-acre-woods-on-west-side-bw1/ "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
