July 24, 200717 yr I hope they keep the giant spinning wheel. The one that spins for like 15 minutes.
July 24, 200717 yr I can't wait to go to the prices is right now! Maybe - someday - i'll make it to contestants row!
July 24, 200717 yr I agree. It will be fun for a little while, but this won't be Drew's career gig. As do I...not totally sold on him getting it, but I think he'll do fine and get people to see the show without Bob Barker.
July 24, 200717 yr He'll probably do fine as long as he continues to enjoy it and wants to do it. Who was the guy who came in and replaced whatshisname on Family Feud who was known for always kissing the ladies? Nobody ever thought he could be replaced either, but I think that show is still on and doing fine. They should tap Carey to do some commercials marketing Cleveland. "Cleveland has it all...world class cultural attractions like the Cleveland Orchestra and Playhouse Square, outstanding parks, beaches and outdoor recreation, nightlife, sporting events, and with an amazingly affordable cost of living.... the price is right!"

I love it. However, they should try to get the price is right "road show" like they do for Wheel of Fortune, Hollywood squares and other game shows. When Bob Barker was the host they didn't want to do a "road show" but now with a new host and he's from c-town, PHS hosting the show for a few weeks could be a great thing. You should send that to Greater Cleveland Marketing Alliance AKA Cleveland+ and suggest they get Drew to do a commercial.
July 24, 200717 yr The Price is Right should have ended with Barker's retirement. The show is an institution and just won't be the same. Sometimes things just need to end. I should add that I like Drew Carey.

July 25, 200717 yr ^ As ink said, it was never the same after Dawson left. I also agree with grasscat, the show should have gone off "on top."
July 25, 200717 yr I loved Drew Carey's "Dirty Jokes and Beer" book, but whenever I see him on TV, I want to punch him in the face. He's just too corny for me. Carey doesn't have the class or "creepy old man grabbing teenage ass" thing that Barker had going on. Don't get me wrong, Drew Carey is a creepster, but not in the sexual predator with a smile sort of way that Bob Barker patented. Barker was a true gentleman who would stir drinks for his models on the side. And he'd always hire the best-looking women a third his age to show off as fetishized consumeristic eye candy. Hell, just have one of the models take over the show. She can dress ultra-skanky and act like a total cokeslut similar to Paris Hilton. Oh, wait, just hire Paris Hilton!! She could use the work. If Paris doesn't work out, get Kim Kardashian- twice as hot, and just as slutty. Id say go with Kim, Paris has a concave ass.
July 25, 200717 yr its hard getting old. Send Bob Barker back to Truth or Consequences! Thanks DanB....You just sent my biological clock into snooze mode!
October 15, 200717 yr In other Drew Carey news: Drew Carey and Reason Launch Video Journalism Project, Reason.tv Carey hosts videos examining issues like traffic congestion, immigration and eminent domain Drew Carey and Reason are teaming together to examine hot-button issues, including, immigration, eminent domain, drug laws and traffic congestion. Carey is hosting a series of short documentaries at our new website, Reason.tv. "We need Reason to help fight the stupid drug laws, the stupid immigration laws, and stupid big government in general," says Carey. "Drew's unique perspective and creativity are going to change and enliven the country's policy debates," declares David Nott, president of Reason Foundation. "Anyone who believes in choice, individual liberty and economic freedom is going to feel right at home at Reason.tv." Reason.tv is a new online community that will showcase the best free market ideas and videos on the Internet. Reason.tv gives you the opportunity to create videos, share videos and suggest topics for Drew Carey's upcoming documentaries. In the first Reason.tv video, Gridlock, released today, Carey delves into a problem aggravating nearly everyone: traffic congestion. Carey meets Josh Lipking, whose 16-mile commute should take 25 minutes. On Los Angeles’ slow-moving, jam-packed roads it takes Josh 90 minutes – each way. That’s three hours a day, lost. Carey, who makes a living giving away great prizes, hires a helicopter to chauffeur Josh to work, showing him how easy his commute could be without that nightmarish traffic. Since helicopters aren’t the answer for everyone, Carey details how cities around the world are using high-tech solutions to build tunnels, elevated highways, and innovative bridges that reduce bottlenecks and make it easier to get around. But Carey doesn’t want taxpayers stuck paying for these much-needed projects, so he explores how the government can get the private sector to foot the bill. “I’d love to own a freeway in Los Angeles,” Carey says. October 16, 200717 yr I saw his first show. (Yes, I am a game show fan, if you think it's dorky, so what and go suck an egg) He was shaky, but good. Very personable, fun, excited, and rooting for them to win. The show has a new life to it, and in contrast to Bob's last 5-7 years or so, Drew wanted to be there. Keep in mind, i was shocked that he was picked initially, but now, I see why. Over time, he'll do well. I love it. However, they should try to get the price is right "road show" like they do for Wheel of Fortune, Hollywood squares and other game shows The reason why the set was redone so extensively is so this could be done...he allegedly wants to take the show on the road. I wonder where he'll go first....:-)
October 17, 200717 yr http://www.cbs.com/daytime/price/video/ (full episodes) He does add in some nice new flavor to TPiR. I actually quite like the upbeat music and theme, and Carey's quirks. He's not like Bob Barker, which is exactly the point. On the premiere episode, they had a perfect game! He will need some time to break in, see what kind of an opening to go with ("The Happiest Place..." eh...), and do a jingle walking in.
November 3, 200717 yr In yet more Drew Carey news: Carey Defends Medical Marijuana Online Nov 2 09:07 AM US/Eastern By SANDY COHEN AP Entertainment Writer LOS ANGELES (AP) - Bob Barker famously closed each episode of "The Price Is Right" with a pitch to spay and neuter pets. His successor is taking a stand on a more controversial subject: marijuana. Drew Carey won't tout toking up on "Price," but he defends the use of medical marijuana in a video posted online Thursday on Reason.tv. "Smell that smell," the 49-year-old comedian says as he walks into a Los Angeles medical marijuana dispensary. "That's the smell of freedom." The video is one of 20 Carey will host for the Reason Foundation, a nonprofit educational group whose ideas "some people call libertarian" and whose mission is to "advance freedom," said president David Nott. Carey offered to produce brief documentaries on topics ranging from traffic congestion to immigration for the foundation's Web site, Nott said. "Drew Carey connects with regular people. ... He has a regular guy's look at things, and that's why this seems like a great thing," he said. "We're interested in freedom across the spectrum, and good journalism about these subjects is important in the world of ideas." It's Carey's everyman appeal that likely helped him land the coveted job as host of "The Price Is Right." But executives from CBS and Fremantle Media, which produces "Price," had no comment Thursday about Carey's extracurricular work. Carey also declined to comment Thursday, but he's not shy about his position on medical marijuana. "I think it's clear by now that the federal government needs to reclassify marijuana," Carey says in the video. "People who need it should be able to get it—safely and easily." Though medical marijuana might be controversial, media experts and fans of "The Price Is Right" said Carey's political punditry will have little, if any, effect on the stalwart show or the comedian's career. "Twenty years ago, this would have been career suicide," said longtime celebrity publicist Michael Levine. "But in the early part of the 21st century, a guy like Drew Carey can come out with his position, and it will not injure him." Shawn Wells, a 32-year-old office worker from Taylorville, Ill., who has identified himself online as a "Price is Right" fan, said in a telephone interview that Carey's political self-expression is "not going to impact me whatsoever." "In this day and age, where everything is electronic, everybody knows everything about everyone," he said. "Twenty years ago, Drew Carey could have had the same views and nobody would have known or thought anything of it." Older "Price" viewers could be turned off by Carey's politics, Wells said, "but I don't think it will make a huge difference." Since Carey is so new to "Price," he's taking a risk speaking out on such a controversial topic, said Bonnie Diczhazy, who runs a "Price Is Right" fan site. People naturally connect him with the show, said Diczhazy, a 38-year-old artist from Cleveland. But his outspokenness could also earn him new fans. "The younger generation could learn something," she said, adding that the medical-marijuana video "doesn't affect whether or not I watch the show at all." "'Price Is Right' is an icon in and of itself," she said. "I don't think (Carey's videos) would stop people from watching." Carey's mini-documentaries will appear every two weeks through the end of the year on Reason.tv, Nott said. Future topics include eminent domain, school choice and immigration. Meanwhile, "The Price Is Right" host will continue to close daily episodes with Barker's traditional spay-and-neuter refrain. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8SLI38G0&show_article=1 Video can be seen here: http://www.reason.tv/video/show/57.html
