March 7, 200817 yr Hey, where's mine!? Receiving a UO bumper sticker requires a little bit of effort on your part, like filling out the request form on the main site.

March 7, 200817 yr well, this is OT but I could use some good thoughts or vibes or prayers or whatever your thing is, tomorrow morning. I am scheduled to fly out to LA (part business/part pleasure trip) at 9am and the forecast sounds worse every time I check it. I *hate* flying as it is, and this is not making it better. Either we go and have a horrible/sickening time getting into the air (and hopefully that would be the worst part of the flight) or it's cancelled and I miss out on several things I have planned to attend Saturday that aren't taking place any other night. Either way isn't good and I'm just bunched up in knots about the whole thing. I *know* it doesn't change anything to worry, but I can't seem to help it. Sometimes when you hear different forecasts from different stations/sources it can end up being much ado about nothing or blow over or be delayed or end early or what have you, but this time everyone seems to be repeating the same mantra of bad tonight, worse tomorrow. Help!

March 7, 200817 yr Has anyone ever noticed how pretty the snow looks when you look at your window? Then you walk outside to go to work and you hate it all of a sudden?
March 7, 200817 yr I'm usually the last one to give the "Embrace Winter!" ... "Enjoy the cold, it makes summers that much better!" ... blah, blah, blah ... but I am sick of snow and ridiculously low temps now. I'm ready for spring!!!!! btw, Cleveland & Cincinnati are getting a lot of attention on the Weather Channel today ...
March 7, 200817 yr Has anyone ever noticed how pretty the snow looks when you look at your window? Then you walk outside to go to work and you hate it all of a sudden? I have to be at work in just a few hours. If we have alot of canceled flight there will alot of irate people that I will have to deal with, which inturn makes me irate! Snow sucks when you have to work.

Help! rockandroller, I've flown a few times in not-so-good weather and if you have to fly out of any airport in a blizzard, be glad it's Hopkins - they at least have the equipment to clear the runways. Not saying it's the ideal situation but if not - the Max and Erma's always has Great Lakes on tap. Like when we went to the Bahamas in December - nothing like a nice couple of pre-flight Christmas Ales! :-D clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
March 7, 200817 yr Snow storm hits Northeast Ohio Posted by Michael Scott March 07, 2008 13:19PM Categories: Top Story Strike three: Northeast Ohio is being battered by the third late-winter major snow storm in the last 10 days. http://blog.cleveland.com/plaindealer/2008/03/snow_storm_hits_northeast_ohio.html
March 7, 200817 yr Jeeze... all we are getting from this is a lot of rain and a tiny bit of snow.. I think (hope) our snow is over.. Oh, and Florida Guy, way to make rockandroller feel at ease :-P
March 7, 200817 yr I think hopkins is one of the better airports to fly out of in inclement weather. I have to go to DC in the morning and I don't like to take the train. I'm in for a real treat!
March 7, 200817 yr We've got about 4-6 inches already and it's still going and supposed to until tomorrow night. I think the roads are better now than they were last week when we got 3-4 inches.
March 7, 200817 yr Never mind. Our travel person called me this afternoon and said they are cancelling flights left and right for Saturday and if I really wanted to get out sooner rather than later, I should take Continental's "no penalty" rebook offer and get one of the 5 remaining seats for Sunday morning's flight instead of waiting til tomorrow, which would probably mean I wouldn't be able to leave until Monday, so I said ok. So I'm stuck here til then. It's 5p and I just got home, left work just before 3:30. Dang.
March 7, 200817 yr You always get your types who think s*** is wonderful and get offended if anyone calls it the feces of Satan or anything accurate like that. I pretty much figure they don't have to go to work, or for that matter anywhere.

I't probably wont fly but it's worth a shot. or try a reroute you via houston.

Thanks, but I just didn't want to be so worried about it so I took their "no penalty" offer and re-booked for Sunday morning, changed my car and hotel so I'm set. This had BETTER be over enough by then for me to leave, I am missing 3 fun things I wanted to do out there which can't be rescheduled due to this f*cker.
March 7, 200817 yr I am trying to reschedule the mega bus tomorrow AM and they are being real horses asses about it as I missed the 24 hour deadline by a couple hours. After talking to them on the phone I emailed the National Weather Service definition of "Winter Storm Warning" (basically stay the F home and off the road). We'll see. Some of the drivers are maniacs-and in this crap-we may just have to eat the tickets. Amtrak on the other hand has had great customer service. They have cheerfully changed my reservation 3 times already w/o penalty.
March 7, 200817 yr See... Winter Storm WARNING is a legit reason to bring up the weather in conversation. Am I the only one that gets annoyed by people starting weather conversations? Whenever I go to the gas station to get coffee I'll be pouring my international delights into my cup or shaking multiple sugar packets at once and someone next to me always mentions "yeah today we're suppose to get like two inches". I can't help but to be a smart@ss and say "yeah it tends to happen in winter".
March 9, 200817 yr I just watched a really messed up Angelina movie called "Girl, Interrupted". .. I want to kiss her in the rain :-D
March 9, 200817 yr Any Clevelanders know what this place(thing) is? Is it a mini runway of some sort?? I have always wondered what it was when I would look at the city on Google earth..
March 9, 200817 yr Isn't that the soap box thing near the Shoreway. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 9, 200817 yr Good lord MTS, give the kid a break. CDM is correct. http://www.clevelandsoapboxderby.com/Track.html
March 10, 200817 yr Thanks Florida Guy.. I thought it was something like that. Jeeze that's pretty nice for a sopbox derby.. When I lived in Jersey they used one of the main streets in town.. That's pretty sweet.
March 10, 200817 yr Hi kids! I finally made it to LA. The scene at the airport this morning was interesting but not terrible. Lots of standby passengers and a full-to-bursting plane. The jetway heat was broken so they would only board one row at a time and wait for them to actually step into the plane til the next row could board so we didn't finish boarding til like 45 minutes after our original departure time. Then we couldn't push back from the gate because the plane couldn't get traction so they had to get a stronger cart to push us than the normal cart. Then we had to taxi out for de-icing, the plane had "significant levels of ice" (pilot's words) which made us all pretty nervous. I happened to be sitting just forward of the wing so I got to see the whole process, which was pretty sci-fi if you've never seen it before. Then we were off, yay. There was a guy on the plane who appeared to have just been released from the Clinic, he had some Clinic-branded bag and his wife was fussing all over him. About 1/3 of the way into the flight they started giving him oxygen on a fairly regular basis and by the end of the flight he was bad enough that we all had to wait while paramedics boarded to help him get off the plane. Poor man. I can't tell you how schizophrenic it is to have to clump through knee high snow to get to your car only to now be sitting here in the sun on the patio outside my hotel room, wearing shorts. I had to drive up to Topanga as it's such a beautiful sunny day here and it was 78 up there. Dang! The beaches were packed and in & out burger was filled with teenagers and twentysomethings in springy beach wear. It's just very surreal. I went to the grocery to pick some things up and it was one I used to shop at when I used to live here (long time ago, and not for that long) and it really brought back nostalgic feelings. It's different being here as a visitor, I feel like I don't belong and everywhere I turn is something I want; a house, a car, a body (there's one I wish I looked like, there's one I wish I was next to. Repeat.). Anyway, I'm on my own tonight and am trying to figure out where/when to get dinner later. I just want to go to the beach and stay there. I'll check in from time to time. Not like you're all on the edge of your seats, but maybe news from a place that's sunny and warm will cheer you somehow. RNR
March 10, 200817 yr Yup, that's it. edit- Oops, late reply. This was regarding the Soap Box Derby Track.
March 10, 200817 yr ^ I second that.. I'm ready for spring, and then the balmy summer weather!! Bring on the warm weather!! haha
March 10, 200817 yr ^---I...umm...third that! Give me spring or give me...well...I really don't want death. What do I want? I don't know what I want. I'm tired. I'll tell ya in the morning.
March 10, 200817 yr ^That was the funniest post I have read all day.. I think.. but I'm also tired.. so who knows. This is the off topic thread so it's all good. Yeah I need sleep.
March 10, 200817 yr I wonder when someone will start complaining that the off topic thread has gone off topic? Would it only be a case where off topic is on topic somewhere else?
March 10, 200817 yr If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you. There is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris's computer. Chuck Norris is always in control. Apple pays Chuck Norris 99 cents every time he listens to a song. Chuck Norris can sneeze with his eyes open. Chuck Norris can eat just one Lay's potato chip. Chuck Norris is suing Myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you. Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise. Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.
