lmao I love that picture MTS. The Navy is the butt of all gay jokes thats for sure. The Air Force and Navy defnitely have it made compared to the other two branches of service though.

I thought the AF was the "gay club" of the military. Most of the gay men I know are in the Air Force.

I can assure you that it is the Navy. They are also the only service with their name on their butts.

REALLY?

MTS---think about the Village People and it shouldn't suprise you.

I don't think so.  They fill arenas.  All the big "disco" era acts can fill large arena.

They played at Cooper Stadium in Columbus! You could hear them for miles, unfortunately.

You had to be there!  I remember when I was elementary school, we did the "YMCA" dance in gym class as a warm up.

One of those all-you-can-drink/eat deals in Midtown East near Grand Central.

I'm going to be in South Beach Florida with the Bearcat Football Team. I have NO idea what we'll be able to do though. I've never been to Miami and it's an official school trip. :-/

What hotel are you staying in?  Hell, just layout and catch some rays!  also, "south beach" is a district of "miami beach".

Is Pickwick and Frolic fun on new years eve?  I want to go somewhere with a lot of people, and an easy transport to hotel or home...if you have any suggestions for Cleveland lt me know. Otherwise i may head down to Columbus to my friends party.

Yeah.  SB pretty much ends at 21 street.  You're up by the Eden Roc and those "old school" resorts.

What do you want to do?  See?  How much time will you have?

Details...details...and I can give suggestions.  I'm sure FloridaGuy will pipe in as well.

That's just it. We don't really have any details yet. We may be relegated to the immediate hotel area. The most time we may have is 1 day. We won't have cars. Is the much to do beside enjoy the beach around the hotel?

There are bussess that run down Collins (the main throughfare) to SB.  So you can walk down to Lincoln Road Mall and Ocean Avenue.

Walk around South Beach (2 miles south) ... have lunch, watch people...thats entertainment in itself!

I'll be at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL for the week of NYE...looking forward to some sunshine...

I can't wait for the W South Beach to open.  The W will be slightly less convienient than the R-C, but I love me a W Hotel.

I will be in Miami next month...any of those restaurants Cuban? If not, have any cuban suggestions?

Random dear diary moment....

Liquid/Fusion was packed last night, on a Monday!  Anyway, I got the phone number of a Rockette who's in town for the Radio City Spectacular.  I needed to brag somewhere.

Ola, yuca and novecento.    You pretty much have to understand/read/speak spanish in most.  I think yuca stand for young, upstanding cubans in america.

There are also place on Espanola Way, but they are mom and pop places.

Do you speak spanish?  If so try Puerto Sagua, it's a dive but my grand parents love it.  Look for the dominoe players.

Did you ever see the movie "Just Can't Stop the Music"?  It has to be the worst movie I have ever seen in my life.  Why they made a movie starring the Village People and Steve Guttenberg, I will never understand.

I swear it's like the secret service prepared Bush for objects being flown at him. He didn't get all flustered or anything. It was like he expected it at some point throughout his term.

I’m glad everybody is so delighted that it’s open season to throw shoes at the President of the United States. I’ll keep that in mind, and a file of all of your comments if, God forbid, someone attempts this on Obama once he takes office. After all, any future shoe-throwers--excercising their right to free speech--will just be “dissidents” who have a “disagreement” with the direction in which he’s taking the country; and apparently, if he’s hit and sustains an injury, so much the better! To reiterate those old but time-honored cliches, what goes around comes around and you reap what you sow.

I think the "Bush Duck" could become a new dance sensation.

Until the shoe's on the other foot, I think he should have been hit!  It might have knocked some sense into him.

A big difference between GWB and Obama is that Obama has empathy for other people's views. I doubt he would ever foster the kind of hatred GWB manages to. Besides that, it was just a shoe. I wouldn't wish an assasination on him or anything.

Its really not rage, its more calling out the hypocrisy of this board.

Board hates Bush = shoe throwing "light hearted" and no big deal.

Board loves Obama = shoe throwing intolerable (had it been him up there).

Don't be blind to it.

Is that right?  I thought I saw countless "Republicans only spew hate towards Obama" during the campaign yet now you're going to dismiss the possibility of something like this happening to him?  Uh, right...

The President, regardless of whether you agree with his views or not, is still OUR President...be it Bush now or Obama in the future.  The position will always be a lighting rod for controversy but as a citizen of the US, you should not be tolerant of this behavior.

Lmao

So far I've scored 7 hits!

Are you f*cking serious? No other president has ever had higher disapproval ratings than Bush and you're surprised that people are laughing at a shoe being thrown at him at a press conference in Iraq? You are taking this way too seriously. If he was ASSASINATED and a video was posted in which I responded "LOL!!" then yeah, it would be inappropriate. Some of you Republicans are deficient of humor!

I just got the best Christmas present one could ask for.  My friends are all aware of my obsession with Cincinnati.  So Dan, my sculpture major friend, decided to make a flying pig sculpture for me.  He also wanted to give a little piece of "himself" to me.  So here's the result:

Photo31.jpg

Pigs did used to run wild in the streets of Cincinnati. I wonder what it would be like walking down Vine Street in the late 1800s and see a pig walk by.

edit: I guess it would have been the early 1800s:

As salt pork became a U.S. staple during this time period, Cincinnati’s success followed. With pigs transported off ships and herded in the streets, the name Porkopolis became commonplace during the late 1820's. Although the pork packing industry was a source of financial wealth, the images of pigs wandering the streets at times caused embarrassment for the local area. Scandals also existed over the hog slaughtering processes and eventually led to government regulation.

Awe, MTS, I thought you of all people would notice what that pig was molded out of.

Pumpkin, what is it?
