A store gave me back a counterfeit 1 dollar bill. I tried spending it at another store and they said it's fake. I didn't realize that I had fake money until a guy chased after me in the parking lot.  It says it's from 1935 and doesn't have "In God We Trust" on it. There is a pen mark on it, showing that the bill is fake but I'm wondering if it is just really old.

I'd be pissed.  I guess you better fix your process before making more bills.  ;)

LMAO!

I cashed a check once and as the teller was counting the money, he came across a counterfeit bill, mentioned that it was counterfeit and proceeded to leave it in with the rest of the bills that he handed to me.  Confused, I just sort of looked at the money in my hand and looked back at him.  I slid the bill across the counter and told him I didn't want this one, and he looked at me for a minute before taking the bill and telling me that it was no problem to switch it out.

I don't bank there anymore.

I guess he figured you give it to a drunk teen!  LOL

Who counterfiets ones??? I thought the process was pretty expensive, so it was cost prohibitive to do anything less than 10's or 20's.

David, sounds like you need to consult with edale!  lol  cut him in for 10% of your profits!

At my last job, one of my friends was in a hurry and didn't want to wait in line.  We allow customers to put cash on the counter and walk out if they choose not to wait.  But he said he only had a credit card, so what does he do?  He gives me a post-it note with $1 written on it.

Basically, I said "if you don't make up for this at your next sale, you are banned!!!"

I think it might just be really old. It's from 1935. It doesn't say "In God We Trust" (that wasn't added until the 50s). It also says "One dollar in silver payable to bearer on demand".

What?  Why would I give money, counterfeit or otherwise, to a teen, drunk or otherwise?

I know you're queer as a 3 dollar bill but that doesn't mean you can just jump in the counterfeit money conversation.  :jo:

Silver Certificates were printed for a time in the United States as a form of paper currency. They were produced in response to silver agitation by citizens who were angered by the Fourth Coinage Act, which placed the United States on the gold standard. The certificate was matched to the same amount of value in silver coinage. For example, one fifty dollar Silver Certificate equals fifty silver dollars.

In March 1964, Secretary of the Treasury C. Douglas Dillon halted redemption of Silver Certificates for Silver Dollars. In the 1970s, large numbers of the remaining silver dollars in the mint vaults were sold to the collecting public for collector value. Silver Certificates were abolished by Congress on June 4, 1963 and all redemption in silver ceased on June 24, 1968. Paper currency is still valid legal tender without the Silver Certificate, instead being backed simply by the perceived strength of the U.S. economy.

Yeah that's what it looks like except it's E series and has a different serial number. Thanks for the research.

Have you guys ever watched a movie so terrible that you couldn't stop watching it? I watched this dvd called "Grandma's Boy", 3 times. Adam Sandler produced it and it completely bombed at the box office. If you asked me what the movie is about, I couldn't even tell you, but it is pretty funny.

So, is it terrible?  Is it funny?  If it made you laugh, how can it be terrible?  You can afford to rent or buy DVD's?

I'm sure it's not as good as your M*A*S*H Dvd set lolololololol

It's just a funny movie but it's not really about anything. Like Seinfeld, there's just something comforting about a comedy that has no real plot.

I never "got" Seinfeld; that bunch of aimless losers reminded me of too many people I knew when I was younger, who had no clue of what they were doing or where they were going, and always expected someone else to rescue them from the messes they made. I guess that's the difference between Seinfeld and real life; in real life, stupidity has consequences.

"Grandma's Boy" is so funny! It's a great stoner movie, IMO. It's no "How High", but still respectable in that category lol.

Yes! Someone else has seen it lol.

I looked on IMDB and the main character is in every Adam Sandler movie but I don't remember him. He's a good actor. Definitely underrated.

I saw Grandma's Boy.  OK, well I saw about 45 minutes of it.  It was so horrible, I couldn't finish it (and I even made it through Eight Crazy Nights!).

I don't know dude, I guess I have weird taste in movies. I remember when Lord of the Rings came out and I fell asleep in the movie theater and that probably grossed half a billion dollars at the box office but I thought it was just long and boring. People were so excited to see it that they dressed up as the characters in the movie/book and there I am passed out in my chair.

I with you on Lord of the Rings. That stuff is weird.

I liked Lord of the Rings even less than Grandma's Boy, and that says a lot.  I don't know how people can sit through 3 hours of that boring, weird fantasy world crap.

The book was so much better.

That's what I say to anyone that actually likes those movies.  I just find them weird, weird, weird.

So you didn't see any of the LOTR movies in the theatre?

Unfortunately I got dragged to the Two Towers one.  Torturous.

Good for you.

No, actually it was really bad for me.  I can't believe I wasted $8 to be tortured for 3 hours.

"This second installment in the trilogy ends with Gandalf intoning that the battle for Middle-Earth is about to begin. I'm pumped."

- Peter Rainer, New York Magazine

Sorry, I just couldn't get pumped about Gandalf and the battle for Middle-Earth.

I thought it was universal knowledge that the LotR movies were fantastic.  Did I not get the memo, or something?

I almost feel like I should really try to like the movies so I'm not the only one here agreeing with David! :)

Anyone seen any good movies recently?  The last ones I went to the theater to see were Angels and Demons (which was pretty bad), Terminator Salvation (which I liked a lot) and Wolverine (which was awful, but entertaining).

YES!

Sunshine Cleaning (decent), but really want to see Sugar.

YES!

My girlfriend didn't like it all, but I thought it was great.  I thought Bale did a great job of playing John Connor as a grizzled war vet.  And Yelchin's Kyle Reese was near perfect.  Plus, the grainy, washed out cinematography was perfect for the wasteland setting.

HP?  Harry Potter?  I'm looking forward to that one.  My problem with the last one was that it seemed to be a bunch of scenes edited together to make a 2 hour film, instead of telling a complete story in a 2 hour timeframe.  But it was sill entertaining.

They could use more Alan Rickman and Gary Oldman, though.

YES, watch Doubt ... great movie! I forgot the directors name, but I think this is his first film??? He's used to shows on Broadway.

You didn't like Angels and Demons?

Anyone see Valkyrie? It should be arriving today from Netflix on Blu-Ray!

Doubt is on my Netflix list, and should be coming up soon.  Angels and Demons just had a weak plot.  The subject matter is fascinating, but the story they came up with was terrible.

I thought Angels and Demons was ok.

On an unrelated topic, I just got offered a new job. I'm still working at the same place and making the same salary, but its a different department on a different floor. Maybe this means I'll be a little less bored with my work and spend more time doing it instead of playing on the internet.
