If the river water there tastes anything like a Goose Island Sophie, I’m going swimming the next time in Chicago (I’ll just have to keep an eye out for the alligators).

I want a Chipotle Burrito after seeing that! Best burritos in the universe. Oh, and he lives in Chicago, at least he's not drinking that sh!t I had at Northwestern...Old Style or whatever it's called? I'm usually not picky at all about beer but I hated that crap.

I'm having stomach cramps just looking at that thing. So...much....to eat.....

I could eat those all day!

I'm just impressed the food made it on a plate.  I don't think I have ever used a plate for Chipoltle.

So one of my friends started singing the Sesame Street theme song, which prompted me to think about other PBS shows.  My favorite was always Square One TV (1987-1992).  Anyone else ever watch that?  I'm watching youtube videos and I totally remember most of it, hahaha.

 How could you not mention Today's Special, Toronto's own!

That was one of my other favorites.  I specifically remember the episode where the building was gonna be demolished unless they found the cornerstone or something, which they did just in time.

Sheeeeeeeit.  Goose Island is like river water.

holy crapolee someone has drank too much corporate koolaid and needs a craft beer intervention asap!

I never even heard of that one. I guess I was too old at that point.  Anyone remember 3-2-1 Contact? they used to make us watch it as homework back at PS 30.

Definitely. We used to watch those in Science Class some days because the teacher didn't feel like following through with the lesson plan or lab lol. I went to a school that specialized in science though, so I still had another science class in the same day. It was a breath of fresh air. That, and being able to do those easy Dvorak lessons in computer lab which for me, meant I got to use half of the time to screw around, playing Oregon Trail.

Heck yeah!  It was on immediately after Square One in the afternoons in the late 80's.  I was a really smart 5 year old.  I don't know what happened to all that intelligence, lol.......  It got lost somewhere.

Joe Posnanski (great sports writer originally from Cleveland and wrote in Cincinnati) says Cincinnatians don't say Cincy.  I went to UC and I say Cincy, but I'm also not from Cincy.  What do you Cincinnati people think?  Do you say Cincy?

People in Cincinnati talk very differently depending on their social class and race. I think this is because of all the ghettoized enclaves you have there. White People in Cincinnati tend to say "Cincy", as a slang term, and Black people tend to say, "The Nati" or "The Nasty Nati" or something like that. Nasty Nati is something you hear a lot in rap records.

Outsiders tend to use the same words but while I was at UC I noticed outsiders (I was in a program where people came from all over the U.S.) used Cincy, or they would use "Cincinnasty" as a derogatory euphemism.

I guess that's true to some extent in Columbus, too. I've very rarely heard Black People say refer to Columbus as "C-BUS". It's mostly white yuppies who say that and wear those lame T-Shirts.

P.S. The only people who say, "Porkopolis" are straight up history nerds. The only time I've ever heard anyone refer to it as Porkopolis, is when someone asked me at Otto's at Penn State - where I was from, or what school I attended or something like that. She was like, "Ahh Porkopolis!" I'm like "How the hell did you know that?"  You have to be a major history buff and I mean History Buff on individual cities to know that term.

West Siders just call it hOOme.

Also, when Cincinnati people travel, they say they are from Cincinnati. They don't say Cincinnati, Ohio, or just Ohio. They say Cincinnati.

That's what we should do here in Columbus.

That's what we should do here in Columbus.

And people would respond, "Columbus, Indiana? The town with the great architecture?"

which immediately gets shot to ribbons because people say back, "oh you're from ohio!" "hey he's from ohio!"

well they do.

You forgot sweat pants.

I just tore up some really old and ugly linoleum in my front stairwell and found a copy of the Cleveland Times from October 30, 1925 laid under it. FANTASTIC :)

Neat find. Beware old linoleum, though. A lot of it contains asbestos. You should wear an approved mask, and keep everything wet as you go. Best of all, don't disturb it unless you have to.

But...but...if it were wet, he wouldn't have a nice preserved copy of the Cleveland Times!!!

You are right, though.

Naah it peeled up like a giant flake of sunburnt skin. There were three complete pages, one of which seems to be fused with the wood. The other two were held in place with some handmade nails (because the shafts were square ya know!). From what I've read so far NOTHING has changed in 85 years. The political cartoon is about the cops following the laws properly to catch some robbers, and a full page ad for a Ohio State Constitutional amendment to make the state more business tax friendly :)
