I love reporters' profound, insighful statements; "This sort of thing is not supposed to happen."

I'm confused. How much does a "sh!t-load" weigh or measure out to? What about a "sh!t-ton"? Are these terms recognized by the Division of Weights and Measures?

In the case of this rig, a sh!t-load comes to 150 bushels. Obviously a semi trailer would hold more. The weight of any given sh!t-load depends on the ratio of sh!t to straw and the moisture content; sh!t-ton is strictly a measure of weight and is approximately equal to 2,000 pounds but in practice is highly subject to exaggeration. :speech:

I usually use "epic shit-ton" in my gross exaggeration.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up Rob. Lol.

Rob knows his sh!t..

Haha.  Craziest questions I've ever had on a test: From a Business Computer Applications class: How far is the Batcave from Gotham City? [either 13 or 14 miles but I think 14]. From my old training class: "What is the airspeed velocity of an African or European Swallow? [24 mph or approx. 10 feet per second].  Btw, no way a 6 oz. swallow could carrying a 1 pound coconut (it's simply a matter of weight ratios). From the same training class: "What was the first city to have ambulance service?" [Cincinnati!].

I love that basically everywhere in downtown Chicago there is free and fast wireless Internet.  The people here in this doctors waiting room look really bored.

$500,000 house in Chicago to $200,000 in just 3 years. Foreclosed property.  I'm sure MTS would enjoy this fixer upper, where is he

Actually maybe I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

...Bueller? Bueller?....

I just mailed my first rent check.  I think that makes me officially a resident of Cincinnati.  Cheers!

Wha? You're done w/ school?

Congrats on the move. I know you've been dreaming about this for a while.

What neighborhood?

Congrats on the move. I know you've been dreaming about this for a while.

Lol, I'm not done with school actually.  This is my last semester.  My lease on my Milwaukee apartment expires in mid-April so I'm moving all of my stuff to Cincy over spring break and crashing on friends' couches for the last two months of college.

I've been waiting 6 years to make this a reality.  I can't believe it's actually happening.

Prok looks like you've got a UO crash pad.... I say Indians/Reds games this summer? No?

Anyone know a good bike ipod attachment?  This is unacceptable (attached to my coat)  I wanna make some good videos.  The ones people have of Chicago on youtube look like terrible 90's family videos.

Crappy vid I made leaving for work

^^^WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!  I don't know the bike laws in Illinois, but that is most definitely illegal in Wisconsin and I'm sure equally as dangerous in Chicago.  Stay off the sidewalk and follow traffic laws.

As for the mount, there are plenty of expensive attachments (just Google "iPod Bike Mount") but my favorite homemade solution is to just wrap it to the handlebars with a bunch of twine or rubber bands.  I've found that videos made from cameras attached directly to the bike are less jittery than ones attached to the helmet or shirt.

Yep, stay off the sidewalk and don't go the wrong way down a one way street. Most places bicycles are supposed to follow automobile traffic laws, right?

In Ohio it's legal to ride down a sidewalk, it's dangerous for you and pedestrians, but it's legal.

Wow chill, I rode my bike like 20 feet on the sidewalk along the curb.  That's like 0.3% of my entire journey.  Unless you are complaining about the gangway, which is private property and really under no restrictions.

Riding a bike on the sidewalks is not recommended when pedestrians are present, but it's only illegal where signs are posted.  The one-way thing is my own risk I choose to take.  It's permitted in this city, and I highly doubt after 2 years of commuting people will stick to walking their bike those couple of blocks, especially when it's in front of where you live.

The only person breaking a law was the taxi driver that ran the red light.

Regardless, I don't regularly ride on sidewalks, just occasionally to get around something and when people aren't present.  It's not my purpose to make people feel uncomfortable or annoyed.

Dont even risk riding a bike on the sidewalk because police don't even know bike laws. I did that and an officer handcuffed me and searched my backpack I had on. I asked if he had probable cause to search me and he said yeah, you rode your bike on a sidewalk. I had a pill bottle with 2 meds I consolidated into one of my bottles inside there and he told me that was a felony to have a pill in the wrong bottle. I said you have got to be kidding me. So I'm sitting in the cruiser with handcuffs thinking about what kind of book I should write in jail while he's having some guy look up my meds to make sure they were what I said they were.  It was a big fiasco all because I rode my bike on that wide sidewalk by the Convention Center on High St. Thank God he let me go.

I'm so sick of all this rain. It has rained constantly the past 2 or 3 days and if its not rain, its snow or cold wind. I can't wait for the weather to get better. Honestly, whats's the point in watching the weather channel? Your day is going to suck regardless. If the weather were nice this time of year, it'd be worthy of headline/breaking news. Outside of that, it's all sh!t and you have to go to go to work in it regardless.

I'll take frozen tundra over every inch of grass being a swamp any day.

What's the point in watching the Weather Channel? Waiting for them to play Pink Floyd during the Local Forecast and having your stoner friends go nuts when they do.

Holy Sh!t You noticed that too!? Hahaha. Channel 10.2. 'Regular tv' is so weird now.

Makes me feel bad about complaining about the snow this morning.

I watched Robin Hood (Russell Crowe) last night...and it made my history degree hurt.

Nah, the vid is from the old-fashioned cable Weather Channel.

Worse than Kevin Costner's did???

Did you know that Robin Hood's father developed the Magna Carta? Did you know that the French invaded England? Did you know that English Archers were mounted and found that their long bows would work wonderfully in close quarters instead of at a distance and they frequently engaged in hand to hand combat? Most amazing...did you know that the French used Higgins Boats for military landings (as the Allies did on D-Day)?

It's a movie and i suspend my disbelief most of the time...but give me a break. that was appalling.

^I overlooked most of it till the boats used in the landing. I couldn't stop being destracted by the boats.

i get that Ridley Scott was going for a Saving Private Ryan type scene...but do something else. that was so out of place.

^^^I hadn't seen it (nor do I plan to). It sounds sh!tastic, doesn't sound like you even need a history degree for that one to be painful.

Russel Crowe does tend to have a Nic Cage streak in his selection of roles sometimes...

yeah, i haven't seen a lot of Crowe's recent movies, because most of them really look like they suck. I was going to watch an episode or two of Firefly on Netflix but my PS3 needed an update...so, instead i found that movie on HBO.

It was awful.

The last Crowe movie i saw was A Beautiful Mind. I wonder where that actor went.

A Beautiful Mind was an awesome film

A Beautiful Mind made me wish I was better at math. Crites, what song does it play? Is it Brain Damage?

So we found out today that my compay wanted to lease a vacant floor in our office building and the landlord said no.  They also denied another company a renewal of their lease for 7 floors.  Glad I don't own a company.  What the hell do you do when you are sticking people in conference rooms and closets and you still got years left in the lease?

You have your lawyer(s) go over the lease with a fine-toothed comb to see if there are any loopholes that will let you break it without penalty, and you evaluate the cost/benefit of paying whatever it costs to break it. The landlord must have a big, lucrative prospective tenant on the waiting list for a near-term vacancy, and they're working at clearing out space. If that's the case, they may be willing to negotiate on a break-lease.

In this case, it's "One of These Days"

Not much of a loophole, the lease is pretty short and straightforward.  We did get the building to pay for our buildout years ago, which appears to be the last year they allowed it.  But you are right.  Currently they are in the process of emptying the entire building for a proposed conversion into a hotel / condos.  Which is a terrible idea IMO.  I think the loop should remain strictly commercial.  But you can't stop the demand.  The loop is one of the hotpots for new residential development right now.  But hell, I'd love to have this view from my living room

^ When I was there, the loop seemed to get pretty dead at night, while north of the river had a lot of life.

Yeah that's why the city is trying to push for residential development and shift office towers Westward into the west loop.  They want to diversify the loop and make it more lively.  But I don't see why it's a bad thing the loop is dead at night.  It's the product the city had always wanted, a huge office tower district.  That's one of the drawbacks that come with it, but something the city needs to accept.

I think it'd ensure that The Loop stays vibrant. Strictly commercial didn't work out so well for The Financial District in Manhattan.

Chicago was a fun trip. Id definitely recommend staying north of the river though. Also I love their river. If I ever had to move, I would definitely choose chicago.

That's true.  It should be interesting to see though where expansion of the city's financial district occurs though.

Just a noticing I've had lately...are people who take the elevator to go up a few floors after they exit the gym in our building.  So running on the treadmill is exercise but going up the stairs is not?  This is exactly the issue here.  American's still don't live healthy lifestyle to the fullest.  It's all about "going to the gym" and dieting, but rarely walking to the store, taking the stairs, jogging or biking through the park.  It's as if exercise is a task or daily chore as opposed to a way of life.
