All rainbows do not mean gay.  I think it's a fine tie.  I mean, it's not my favorite or anything, but it's all right.

Airmax 95's - point-in-case. I used to have a pair of those. Best shoe design ever.

I just like basic solid-color ties. I don't really get why guys wear conservative dress shirts and slacks then go f-ing crazy with the ties. I'm not a fashion guru or anything though; just my personal style.

I don't know if it's a "fine tie" but if you like it wear it.

also took me back to HS Homecoming Dance freshman year (1992) match that tie with a colored shilk shirt and some Z. cavarichi pants and you would have been the sh!t.

I love 90s clothes; too bad I was so young back then. People always give me weird looks when I wear my Nautica polo; it's blue and green and one of the sleeves is a different color to the rest of the shirt. Blatantly 90s. I love stuff like that. I'm going to single-handedly bring these polos back. Watch me!

I think the essay is "going viral" as they say. I have gotten close to 400 emails. My blog is blowing up. It's being shared all over LI and the FB sharing is unbelievable. I may have put a nail in the

Having an argument, does a 20s single straight man wear this tie? to a wedding?

I fixed that for you.

What the hell is that??  That has to be a rainbow trout, not a tie.  My nephew and I are just looking at the screen and each other and shaking our heads.

If you see someone in that tie you should set them on fire!

It gave me vertigo when I looked at the full size pic....also took me back to HS Homecoming Dance freshman year (1992) match that tie with a colored shilk shirt and some Z. cavarichi pants and you would have been the sh!t.

Personally I am a little freaked out because the clothes of the early 90s (and my youth) are starting to come

back..yikes

I might have a flat bottomed knit tie left over from HS. You can have it if you want it.

I will personally kill anyone who tries to bring back grunge. I will kill you until you are dead.

I have one of those, bright red. I wear it with a white cotton casual shirt, khakis, and a dressy off-white straw hat when I exhibit/sell photos at art shows, to set myself apart from all the vendors in rumpled shorts and logo t-shirts.

It's more the early-early-'90s neon surfwear-type stuff rather than grunge.

After reading the last few post, I think I'm going to be sick.

Flannel! Flannel! Flannel! Doc Martens!

Actually hipster wear is basically grunge minus the boots and flannels..

Thing No. 1..... Call the fashion paramedics, I think I'm having stroke!

When are parachute pants coming back?

Screw parachute pants, I want my Slick jumper back!

I was born in 1986 and have no idea what you guys are talking about.  Either I'm too young, or I wasn't as fashionable as you guys during my childhood years.

^Both!

Now go out and buy yourself an Adidas Jump Suit and some Reebok's with fat laces.

^^Too young.  We are talking about the fashion disaster that was the late 80's and very early 90's.

And make sure they are the Reebok "Pumps"

I was born in '83 which I guess was just in time to see these things in the wild.  You didn't miss anything

Doesn't every period of fashion go through the "disaster" phase?  I seem to recall that the late 70's/disco look was considered hideous when I was a chillun, but it rebounded around 2000... Now it's time for the 80's to come back for a while and fade in a few years.

Fashion is never a disaster!  It's those who buy clothes in some god awful Casual Corner or H&M who are considered a "disaster"!

...thats all.

I had no idea Chelsea Clinton was a big deal till this week.  I suppose I should just be happy I'm not hearing more about the likes of Lohan, Hilton, the Jersey Shore skank, etc.

Yep.  Big ef'n deal. They actually have the airspace of the city shut down.

I got a terrible phone call today. One of my family members died from a drug overdose. She was really bad on Heroin and Xanax.

It sucks knowing you can't stop people from doing what they do or even make them slow down. No matter how much you try to empower someone, you can't make them change; it's something they have to decide on their own.  :-( Then this happens and I have to live with the guilt.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Addictions, not only affect the abuser, but the entire family.

Barney's or Barney's Co-op?

@David, so sorry to hear about this.  That's so sad.

:-( Then this happens and I have to live with the guilt.

David, you bear no guilt over it. As you've already recognized, often people will make their own choices despite the efforts of family and friends to intervene. When they're insistent upon self-destruction, you're absolved from guilt. It's natural to grieve, no matter what the cause, but don't blame yourself for others' bad choices.

Sorry for your loss David.  It's definitely not your fault.

I said, "oh no.  The french have taken over UrbanOhio"

A new member named "atan" or "antan" posted something in the city section in french.  It was deleted before I could respond or read their link.

It had something to do with gene preservation and human life.

So my girlfriend and I went to State College on Wednesday (sorry no photos, maybe in the fall) to do some last minute campus adventures before she starts in the fall.  We had some extra time so we stopped at the only A&F in the central PA region.  I folded and got their Fierce cologne because the whole store smells like it and I have always liked it.  Gotta admit, it does smell good.  Probably the best 57 bucks I have spent in a while.

:-( Then this happens and I have to live with the guilt.

Yeah. Cognitive distortions I guess.

I love that movie. I couldn't stand that Indian comedian though; the one that kept saying "I'm tweakin', I'm tweakin', I'm tweakin!" on stage. I was like STFU!! Jeez. I wanted to throw a Tomato at him.

That scene where Adam Sandler talks to the doctor is classic. I'm going to see if I can find that.

Here we go.

Pardon the interruption, but I humbly ask my fellow UOers for your votes in a writing contest I've entered.  I am not much for internet "whoring" for votes, but this is really important to me, and I think in order for my entry to be actually read and considered, I will need to achieve and maintain a high ranking, which is dependent upon votes.  You can vote every day until the contest ends on 9/30.

For those of you who are food-minded (mrnyc are you here?) or just curious, the contest is to have your essay appear as the introduction to Tony Bourdain's newest book.  This is HUGE.

You must either have a FB account or create a username and password on the contest entry site to vote, which is unfortunate, but dem's da rules.  I did PM this to a few people but I really need more votes, so I'm posting it here in case others of you will vote.

Will you please consider voting for my essay, today and every day until end of Sept?  Thank you!

I had already voted!  You all should too!

Excellent essay, rnr!

thanks you guys, really appreciate it!

Don't have FB (again...I think I'm going to have to break down and do it), and I can't seem to register on the site at work. I'll vote when I get home tonight. Great essay.

thanks!

I'm so happy!  Mrs. Thing No. 2 just told Thing No. 2 they're going to have a baby!

They went into my conference room.  About 5 minutes later, I heard a "thud" and a "scream"!  Thing No. 2 promptly fainted. ROFLMAO!

The Baby is due in January, although Mrs. Thing No. 2 doesn't look pregnant at all.

I've been asked to be

Thing No. 2 is tears, I had to give him the rest of the day off.

Oy, who would tell their spouse at WORK?  Dang.

Oy, who would tell their spouse at WORK?  Dang.

Her doctor is near our office and she said she couldn't hold it in any more.  She wanted to wait until she was four months before even telling him as they haven't been "trying".

That Baby is going to be so cute and I can't wait to spoil him/her!

So she took him to a room full of chairs and didn't bother to make him sit in one?  That's kinda hilarious.  I think the whole 4 months thing would have done me in, and I'm not one to have ever felt faint.

Wow.  It's one thing to wait until 4 months to tell other people, but to hold out on your husband?

He was sitting!  I'm just so happy for them.  And to think he was too scared to even talk to her.  Thing No. 1 and I had to run a diversion to get them together.  Now they're expecting a baby!  His mother is going to freak.  She's a screamer.

She said she wanted to surprise him, but she wasn't sure because her period skipped 2 months and she has one false pregnancy test. So she wanted to make sure.

I think because they weren't activly planning nor is she showing, she could hold out.
