okay, for all the “14 out of 15" people who missed the last question, let's just go ahead and give ourselves perfect scores. Unless someone actually picked Billy Graham (and I'm certain no one here did ), one would almost have to have a scholarly background in 18th and 19th century American religious history to know the correct answer. Like, okay?

LOL!

All you people with perfect scores got on Google to look up the answers!

That quiz was easy. We need a quiz thread.

I spent $375 at a restaurant over the course of 1 year.  It's a Mediterranean fast-casual type of place with locations in two food courts near my office.  If I eat there once every week for lunch and spend about $8.50-$9.00 per meal, subtract weeks I don't eat out, it's about $375.  Amazing when you think in those terms.  Calculating in Michigan Avenue's minimum wage of $9/hour, that's enough to keep one person employed at that restaurant for a week.

I lose track with the other restaurants since I don't make it to them every week, or items on the menu vary quite a bit in price.

You guys are making me feel dumb. I only got 12/15. I only know about religion as it pertains to Sociology and American History (which is why I was surprised about Protestants not knowing anything about Martin Luther). I've been to church but I'm agnostic and never felt I had a vested interest in exploring Christianity. I did know about Communion and literally drinking/eating the body and blood of Christ and that's precisely why I always sat at the pew while everyone else did that disturbing ritual.

you still did a hell of a lot better than most people...and agnostics and atheists were among the top scorers.  I guess when people are born into a faith they don't feel the need to explore others or something...and obviously i'm not saying that about anyone on here...just trying to explain the scores.

I'm actually surprised at how many Catholics don't understand transubstantiation.

From a bus, I just saw three 7 or 8-year-olds beating the crap out of another 7 or 8-year old on a street corner.  Made me wonder what I would do if I were walking buy and had an actual opportunity to do something.  Am worried kids are like killer bees or piranhas.

^Hopefully, you called the cops.

If you felt compelled to step in, I would HIGHLY recommend that you keep your hands off the assaulters.  Just grab or cover up the kid getting beat up and try to end it that way.  Maybe some yelling.  But don't touch them unless absolutely necessary.... considering that they are minors.

I have a friend who ran into this very situation.  His kid beat up another after school one day.  The dad for the other kid got there and my friend thinks he overstepped his bounds in breaking up the fight by picking up my friend's kid and throwing him off.  I don't know the specifics, but I sympathize with both sides of the argument.  That doesn't mean that my friend, who can certainly be irrational and hot-headed, is not going to do something about it when given the chance.

^I'm embarrassed that I didn't call the police.  I could easily have called 911 and let them decide whether or not it constituted an emergency they'd respond to. I was kind of fixated on the action, wondering if it was real or only playing around.  I didn't even notice what street corner it was on (I'm on an intercity bus that was passing through a neighborhood I don't know well).  I'm a major wuss, so doubt I would have done anything physical at all had I been passing by on foot, but I would have tried to figure out if it was something real or not.

Correct and Incorrect.  It depends on where the situations turns.  If you intervene to protect the person getting pummeled and the assault turn on you, you can do whatever is in your power to protect yourself regardless of age.

^ I remember in the early 80's I was walking home around midnight on the perimeter of Union Square (when it was unsafe to walk through the park even in during the day) when I saw two guys whacking another guy with a wooden plank (I believe it was a 2-by-4), no doubt drug related. There was nothing I could do. Obviously there were no cellphones back then, and I feared for my own safety if I had gone to the nearest phone booth (another pre-gentrification New York Nostalgia Moment). I hope that guy was okay!

EFF, just got summoned for jury duty.  This has not been a good week :(

Actually, whatever proportional response you can give to protect yourself, you can use to protect others with impunity.  But I wasn't addressing the issue from a legal standpoint.  More from a practical approach to the situation.  In Strap's case, I think a fight between four 7-8 yr olds can be broken up without a grown man getting physical with the kids who are the aggressors.  JMO.  I also think that you don't want to get into a debate, whether it be with cops, a prosecutor, a judge, or the kid's parents about whether your physical actions against a 7-8 yr old was proportional.  Sticky situation.

Yes, that's called a "city."  Though there is an Outback Steakhouse not too far from those digs...

I love Pittsburgh! About fifteen years ago when my employer needed to send a tech person to Pittsburgh for a couple of weeks, everyone else's reaction was something like, "Pittsburgh, eww!" I said, "I'll go! I'll go!" One of my favorite out-of-town assignments; the regional office was in the gloriously Art Deco Koppers building, and they put me up at the Sheraton at Station Square. I had a nice walk to and from work in a great building, and lunch breaks in a busy, thriving downtown with lots of people coming and going.

Ohio should consider taking Pittsburgh by force. It's attainable geographically, and would make a great addition to our 3C-caliber portfolio.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaawd, everytime I have to go away, I come back and this thread has gone of the damn rails.

Welcome back MTS.

i just cant see children toddling over to browns games, malls and high school, etc. in expensive clothes and ridiculous high heels.

well, i guess i could see could see mts doing stuff like that, but not teens - ha!

now is there anyway we can get back on topic? this was a useful thread at one point..!

It's obvious you didn't go to Shaker, Heights, Beachwood or Orange!  LOL

oh please, what kind of 90210 fantasy life are you dreaming about? stop it. does anyone reeeeally need to google image link those schools just to find a bunch of kids in slumpy hoodies and clothes just like any others in suburbia? kids at ny ivy prep schools dont even wear that stuff. bzzzt - class dismissed!

Child boo!  I know what I dressed like when I left for school.  I wasn't in a "hoodie".  I know what my neice likes to wear.  Granted, I'm not saying kids don't wear those things, but I know that going to school at Shaker, Heights and Beachwood was like being in a fashion show.

Kids at NY school underclass wear uniforms upper class kids dress fab.

Obviously our experiences are vastly different.

Kind of a weird story.

Actor Randy Quaid and Wife Claim Asylum in Canada

By Allan Dowd

October 23, 2010

VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Hollywood actor Randy Quaid and his wife, wanted in the United States on vandalism charges, are seeking refugee status in Canada, saying on Friday they feared for their lives.

The couple were arrested in Vancouver on Thursday after police responded to a call and found there were arrest warrants out for them in California. Officials incorrectly said earlier that were arrested on Wednesday.

I have no idea what Randy Quaid is like in real life, but for some reason I can only picture him as Cousin Eddie from the National Lampoon movies.  I can see him standing in that Canadian court room in cutoff jorts, with a beer in one hand, trying to claim asylum.

LOL. That's exactly the image I had too...only he had the hat with the ear flaps on.

Damn, I can't sleep.

Playing with auto-tune on the computer but it's only a matter of time before the neighbor I've never seen complains.  I've discovered you basically have to belt sour notes fairly loud to actually get it the T-Pain / Kanye sound, or maybe its because the microphone is far away.  Anyways, or it could be telling of their musical talent.

Then again, I have none.

Playing with auto-tune as in the actual protools plugin?  Or just an app-type thing?  I would love to set up protools again to play with auto-tune but the plugin is so expensive.

Oh so that's why auto-tune is so "cool". It's expensive like an Escalade and jewelry.

Oh god......

And remember AJ93, masturbation and sex solve the world's problems.  Imagine if Hitler and Genghis all had sex daily or pleasured themselves twice a day.  They wouldn't even care about this whole "taking over the world" schtick.  They'd all ♥ the world.  I support masturbation and sex for all.

And Free Weezy!

I can't speak for Hitler, but I think Genghis pretty much mounted whoever he wanted to, whenever he wanted to, whether it be women or steeds.
